Ultimately we went with a roofing company for the roof and haven't hired anyone to work on the rest of the house, but I would definitely call him back when I get around to the rest of the house. He even took a quick look at our puddled basement and saw immediately that there was some little steam exhaust tube thingy that was disconnected and popped in back in place, ending two years worth of moldy buildup, just like that! I was expecting some long extensive repair plan because it looked awful, but in a matter of minutes he fixed it, and didn't even charge. He took a really good look at the whole house, at least an hour of his time spent just checking it out and figuring out what needed to be done. Not sure what happened with Josh A. to garner such a bad experience, so I wanted to post my experience and give the guy some credit. He followed up with me every time we communicated before and after the estimate.

As it's…read morea TOS (violation of term of service)so I thought I'd paraphrase the review to give Yelpers a sense of my experience with Mr. Ritchie. Here at Casa Canine we did not have a negative experience with Mr. Ritchie. We contacted him when he was doing extensive work to the house next door and asked him to do an estimate on our house for various repairs. As we'd never used him before, our neighbor (for whom Andrew was working) allowed us to see the work that had been performed; we also chatted with Mr. Ritchie in person. The work next door was quite nice, Mr. Ritchie's background as a historian, author and avid bicyclist was quite interesting and we drew the conclusion that he was the type of person we would feel comfortable with working in our home. (We have dogs and therefore are careful about who gains unfettered access into our curtilage. ) I wrote the Yelp review based upon observation of his regular attendance for work next door, his conscientious personality and his reasonable hourly rate. ($35 to $50 depending on the type of repair work.) We were satisfied with both his craftsmanship and his work ethic. Other reviewers apparently have had different experiences. We had a positive one. Obviously, Yelp readers should check his references and make up their own minds before employing Mr. Ritchie. Exactly why my review was TOS'd several years after being written, I do not know. But this I do know...I would never intentionally violate Yelp's guidelines. Nor do I have an agenda with this review or any other...I'm a real person, with a real picture, writing real reviews about real experiences. Without accepting remuneration from any source...though no one as ever offered! Darn! I call 'em as I see 'em. Perhaps through rose-colored glasses, some might say...but that is my real point of view. ..and Mr Ritchie was fine for us.

I was impressed with the quality of his workmanship, and the breadth of his experience. I had a leak in a window that has been worked on by myself and 2 other people without success. Andrew, methodically tracked down the source of the problem by careful trouble shooting, then did the necessary repair. I finally have a window that should not leak this winter! And I have Andrew's talents to thank for that. He was punctual, communicative and most helpful. He also knows and has worked with licensed contractors and offered names and contact information for other jobs I am considering. I am extremely satisfied with his work and will ask him to return for further work as needed!
