First time me and my family tried Indonesian food and didn't disappoint. I have some dietary restrictions and our server Maxey was insanely helpful and super passionate about the food when helping us out. Place was also aesthetic and very clean. Thank you Maxey!

One of the best Thai restaurants around. It is very affordable and has great dishes. We ordered different types of satays, noodles and rice dishes. We ordered the fish special, which is only available over the weekends. Everything was delectable. This is not your average Thai place. It is authentic and run by a Thai chef and his family. The service was fantastic as all family members came to check up on us and made sure we had everything we needed. The restaurant is small, but there is seating outside. It is very clean and tidy. Parking is available around the corner. A great place to go for more intimate dining.

Parking was very convenient as there is 2 hrs free parking if u eat at the restaurant. Staffs were friendly, as you entered. I think it might be a preference thing but the place doesn't place exactly screams Indonesian restaurant. To me the place had a lil cafeteria feel. A couple bar top, long tables... the main cafe feel is the utensils are just at the one of the walls and whats holding those is the typical grey plastic separator... lol The food was amazing. The corn fritters is literally a fritter there is "dough", honestly i think i prefer if there were more corn... The mix sate was great you get 3 chicken and 3 beef skewer. They were cooked perfectly nice n tender and juicy!!!! And the bottom of it lays a tasty peanut sauce yummy !! The coconut milk beef soup was interesting, a couple slices of uncooked tomatoes, beef and stirred potatoes. Chicken fried rice has a little kick to it but delicious!! The coconut mill soup helped me lowered the spicy kick from the fried rice

Was looking for a new place to try and had this saved a few months ago so decided to give it a try! Price $15-$30 per person Items ordered: -Nasi Goreng -Chicken Sate -Ayam Penet Food Quality (Menu, Taste, Portion size) - 5/5 The food blew my mind. The Ayam Penet (smash spicy fried chicken) was full of flavour but warning it's pretty spicy so be prepared. The chicken sate was the star of the show, perfectly cooked and the peanut sauce was a perfect combination. The Nasi Goreng wasn't as flavourful as I would have hoped, but it did pair really well with the Ayam Penet to balance out the spice. There is a lot of other options on the menu, and the portion size was perfect. We got 3 dishes for 2 people and only had a bit left over. Atmosphere - 4/5 It had a very nice small restaurant vibe. Its good for a relaxed hang with friends or a a family dinner. They have cool artifacts on the wall and a good amount of seating based on the size Service - 4/5 The waiters were super nice and very helpful. Gave great recommendations and were always checking in on us. There isn't many staff so i can see it being a bit slow when it's more crowded. Will I go again? Absolutely! Especially with a small group of friends so we can try more of the dishes Lash's Recommendations -Chicken Sate -Ayam Penet

It was my first time trying Indonesian food but was very surprised at how much options and how familiar the items were. Staff were helpful with explaining the menu items and the interior is almost like a cute little cafe. There's a little neon light you can take selfies at but the position of the garbage cans in front ruins the vibe so if you're trying to post something cute on socials it's kinda impossible Lol I'm a fan of southeast Asian flavour and this was a nice introduction to something new. The spice level is adjustable if you ask the staff. I recommend getting the noodle and the curry. The coconut pandan drink was good but found it too sweet for my palate - if you have a sweet tooth I would recommend it.

A surprisingly amazing little spot in an unexpected area, this has become my new favorite place in the city! Very friendly service from beginning to end. The atmosphere was pleasant and not very loud, the seats were more comfortable than they looked and two hours passed by very quickly. We had Chicken Gulai, Mixed Skewers, Steamed Rice, and Tofu Spring Rolls.... all were extremely delicious and I don't normally like tofu... the spring rolls are well seasoned and delectable. Reasonably priced. The Restaurant is attached to an above ground parking complex which is convenient on cold, rainy days, and they validate your parking. I'm already planning my next meal here... this week for sure!

There aren't many Indonesian restaurants in Toronto, and of the one that exists, I think Satay Sate is a hidden gem that everyone should try. My wife is Indonesian and she comes here for the food, which she finds very authentic and reminiscent. We ordered the Bubur Ayam (chicken porridge), Nasi Kuning Combo (yellow tumeric rice with rendang and fried chicken), Pempek (fried fish cakes), Cendol (Pandan jelly with coconut milk and palm sugar), and the Bakwan Jagung (corn fritters). The food was fresh, flavorful, and reasonably priced. The Bubur Ayam was especially comforting - the porridge (congee) was silky smooth and combined with the peanuts and garlic crackers, it had an amazing texture and taste. I would highly recommend everyone try this dish out, which is only available on the weekend. I also enjoyed the Cendol - I have a sweet tooth and this drink hit the right spot. Cold, sweet with a bit of chewiness from the jelly, it went down very well with the rest of the meal. The staff were also friendly and attentive - we were seated immediately and provided with a menu to peruse. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a delicious and affordable Indonesian meal.

Most delicious Indonesian restaurant outside of Indonesia. Everything we ordered was good. Highlights are the satays, fried chicken, penyet chicken, grilled chicken, Balinese grill fish,, dadar gulung dessert, cendol drink. The soups are not their strengths. Portions are pretty good size. We ordered too much sharable since everyone ordered more individual dishes. Service is pretty good. We had large group. Restaurant is airy but has limited tables. The handicap restroom doesn't work as expected. It seems locked but all you need to do is hit the button to open the door.

Satay sate is an unexpected find in a mostly business offices and care dealership area near Fairview mall. We have been three times since we discovered the restaurant and have enjoyed every meal that we have had here. A continual favorite is the Ayam Penyet (a smashed fried chicken with chili sauce) and recent standout was the Nasi Bakar (rice steamed in banana leaf with chicken). Their sambal has become a household staple, so definitely try it and buy a jar to go home with if you like it! The owner is super friendly and likes to come out to chat with customers at the end of the night. We've had several chats with her and she is always excited about the items she is experimenting with and adding to the future menu. Looking forward to future visits!

It was my first time coming here and I must say I was impressed. The food is great and very flavorful. I ordered the Krupuk and Nasi Kuning Combo (weekend special). The Nasi Kuning was amazing! I loved the little salad - YUM! The restaurant is average size. Not too many seating options. They have regular eating tables and high seats. Free WiFi available. The parking garages right next door. Remember to ask for your parking chip when leaving.

My cousins came over to my house thinking that a family party was taking place. However, they were off by a week, and to make them feel better I brought them to one of their favourite places to eat. Since I had a big lunch earlier I decided to eat something light for dinner and ordered the tempeh satay with a side of white rice. You get 2 decent size skewers of tempeh with peanut sauce. It was good, but next time I think I will order extra peanut sauce as I felt it was not enough for the tempeh. As it was a weekend when we went they have a special weekend menu, and so I opted to try the kue talam for dessert. I highly recommend. These came out fresh from the kitchen. Beautiful chewy texture, and delicately shaped. I loved the taste of the yam interacting with the other ingredients. They also had a beautiful perfume.

Satay Sate can satiate my hunger any day. It's amazing value-for-money with the portion size and quality of the food you get at more than reasonable prices. While the Indonesian dishes might be a bit toned down to accommodate different tastes, the food is still flavourful. Stopped by for dinner and got the gado-gado (refreshing veggie dish, though a tad bland), beef rendang (good chunks of beef smothered in a rich and hearty sauce), and ayam penyet (super tender chicken, great heat on the spices). Place is well laid out and well lit. Owners have a great positive vibe and are quick with service. Stop by if you want some tasty food at great prices.

We ordered chicken and beef on the stick along with the coconut rice wrapped in banana leaf. They had just open so service was kinda slow. Great ambiance, very cute inside. If you have a larger bottom try to ask to be seated on the bench. I feel that the chairs at the table are way too small and uncomfortable for a larger back side person.

I don't recall NaiNai being here the last time I visited so I gave it a shot. I went with in my mind the safe option of Stir Fried Rice Noodles (Kwetiau Goreng) which is a flat noodle. The dish reminded me of pad seew which I love. I ordered it with the chicken and overall the dish was flavourful with a slightly sweet taste from the sweet soy sauce. Again it reminded me a lot of pad seew and I would put it above a food court joint like Thai Express but not quite as good as some of the pad seew at some of the Thai restaurants in the city. Service was friendly and they give you one of those buzzers to alert you when your food is ready. It was pretty busy when I went so my food took more than 10 minutes to be ready but not too bad considering how many people were ahead of me. Overall not a bad choice if you're looking to grab something in the food court. Looking forward to coming back and trying some of their other offerings.

I ordered their IndoMie Rendang which is a seasoned instant noodle cup topped with beef rendang that was so flavorful and tender. To go with this, I enjoyed Thai Milk Tea as a refreshment. The only thing I would knock is the IndoMie cup portions are small when the food tastes so good! Even though it was a jumbo cup, it was only slightly bigger than the drink cup. The shop feels more like a convenience store so there's not much ambience. The service was quick and friendly for takeout. Skip it or hit it? It's a good place to try for Indonesian food but I haven't been back.

Decor isn't really anything to write home about, it's not why we came here. The roti canai was super delicious. Roti was flaky and buttery, the curry nicely spiced and waiting to be sopped up by the roti. The Indonesian fried rice was recommended by the staff and it didn't disappoint. Char Kwei Teow was nice, the wok hei was very apparent here as well as the Kang Kung Belacan (water spinach). The hainanese chicken while tasty was very bony (menu said it had bones). There were a lot of ingredients: cabbage, carrot, choy sum, shrimp, chicken, fish cake & squid. The squid was quite rubbery. The fish cake was not springy. There was a lot of it, maybe to replicate the look even if not the taste & texture of pork. Apam balik was good: pretty thin & crispy, though stickier than average. The filling was quite generous & tasty but the peanuts were pale & tasted a bit raw. Ayam percik: the chicken itself was very tender & juicy & pretty tasty. The curry was rich but a little generic. Char kway teow was good: quite flavourful though it could have a stronger flavour. There was some wok hei. The fish cake was slightly springy & there was quite a bit of squid. There were some chives but they don't serve it on a banana leaf anymore. Fried squid in nonya sauce was pretty tasty & quite spicy. It'd be better with okra or eggplant, not peppers. There was quite a bit of dried shrimp in it (fried squid is stir fried & crispy squid deep fried). Chicken rice rice was pretty good: moist enough & quite gingery. The chicken flavour could be stronger. Chendol was pretty good with rich palm sugar & coconut milk. There were green worms & grass jelly but no red bean. Nonya kueh was pretty good: they looked dodge but tasted about right though they were a bit soft. They have 2 versions of Nasi Lemak. The more expensive version has curry chicken, keropok & peanuts unlike the economy version (which does come with a banana leaf, though). The rice was not very fragrant but the curry was very rich so the smell kind of made up for it. It was not super tasty but was above average & moist enough. The curry was tasty & very rich but had a lot of bone fragments & was annoying to eat; the majority of mouthfuls had at least 1 bone fragment. It is a bad idea to put the curry & peanuts in your mouth at the same time. Sambal had a lot of ikan bilis with some onion but little liquid. It was pretty good though if you like to put it as a paste on your rice you will be disappointed. Keropok was very crispy & pretty tasty.

This year it was held on 2025-07-26. It started in 2016, but was suspended in 2020 and 2021 because of the pandemic. Most of the stalls sell food but there is one for the consulate and one for indigenous art. There are live cooking demos from Indonesian chefs. The main stage is for cultural performances, martial arts, and trivia contests. Some vendors only accept cash while others accept debit/credit. Food vendors include Kopi Thyme, Dapur Gembul, Happy Hot Canada, Highly Likely Coffee, Indomie, KAMU, Coreta Indonesia and Azima Tempe, among others. Performers include Zapin Melayu, Senandika Band, Lintas Nusa and Swaragita Angklung. There is definitely a wide variety of food and drinks but many of the lineups are long. It was a hot day, 26C feeling by 36C. We ordered several food from various food stalls. Some of what we ordered was: 1.Satay Combo ($30) with Nasi Kunig (yellow rice) and Corn Fritters from Warung Du Yatie. 2. Siomai Bandung ($15) from Happy Hot Canada. 3. Kari Ayam (Curry Chicken) Eggrolls ($10), Laksa Butter Cookies ($10), Savoury Kari Butter Cookie ($10) from Kopi Thyme. 4. Butter Mochi (2 for $6, chose Golden Mango and Ube Velvet) and Beef Rendang ($16) from Basil King. 5. Iced Cendol ($8) and Ranginang (shrimp chips) ($7) from Dapur Gembul. There is free WiFi. The are is wheelchair accessible. There are no washrooms but you can find them in neighbouring Eaton Centre. There is paid neighbourhood street parking and a Green P parking lot under the Square. Can't forget the goi thai dumplings either, wrapped with chicken and scallops - a personal fave. Salads didn't hit the mark for us. This place is a gem on the Danforth - small, cozy, intimate, and perfect for small gatherings and private events (they routinely get booked for private events). Once a month, they host rijstaffel ("rice table") which features an elaborate selection of Indonesian dishes for sharing (need to be booked in advance). Booking process is via email. They usually respond within 1-2 business days confirming your reservation. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. There are various Dutch memorabilia decorating the walls and shelves inside the restaurant, making it feel very 'homey'. There is also a full bar with small TV screen. Food is excellent - both the Dutch and Indonesian options are traditional and delicious. They have traditional Dutch dishes such as bitterballen, krokets, borenkool, snert, and poffertjes, as well as Indonesian classics such as nasi goreng (fried rice), bakmi goreng (fried noodles), satay, gado-gado, and krupuk. The best part about this restaurant is that they can make all dishes vegan! They also tend to have specials (usually 1 drink and 1 food special that are not on the menu), so ask the waiter / waitress what the specials are for the day. Dishes that we tried: DUTCH 1) Boerenkool (Holland's most traditional dish - stewed kale and potato mash with vegan smoked sausage and gravy) - Very hearty. The vegan smoked sausage was slightly crispy on the outside. 2) Vegan Snert (Dutch pea soup with king oyster mushrooms and vegan smoked sausage, served with dark rye bread) - Perfect for winter. Soup was thick, filling, and flavourful. It was interesting to see the king oyster mushrooms made into pulled pork-like texture. The vegan smoked sausage was a bit salty. 3) Poffertjes (Dutch mini puffed pancakes with icing sugar and butter) - Light and not too heavy for dessert. It would've been better with cheese, yogurt, or berries / fresh fruits instead of butter, in my opinion. INDONESIAN 1) Nasi Goreng (Indonesian fried rice with fried egg, sambal, seroendeng, and pickled cucumber) - Our favourite dish here! It tasted authentically Indonesian with the sweet soy sauce. Loved the fried egg on top with runny yolk, and the toasted coconut and peanuts that added a nice, flavourful crunch to every bite. 2) Gado-Gado (Indonesian salad of seasonal vegetables with tofu, hard-boiled eggs, and peanut satay sauce) - I liked that this was light (the sauce was not overdone) and the vegetables were still crunchy. The vegetables were not really what's in a typical gado-gado, but I still enjoyed it very much, that we ended up ordering 2 of this same dish to get extra veggies!
