Meat party in Sasta's deli case!
    Rachel F.

Oh hi, secret little Indian/Pakistani grocery store right next to Anmol. I had no idea you even existed! But you do, and I really, really like you. Here's what you do: 1. Go to Anmol. Peruse their shiny, newly printed menu complete with pictures, or order what you know you love (in my case, I'm still exploring, but the chicken makhani, the okra masala, the chicken biryani, the chana dal and the palak paneer... all winners) and get it to go. 2. Tell the nice folks behind the counter that you're heading next door to Sasta to check out the following: -a bazillion kinds of rice -various fresh meats from their deli counter including goat and mutton -crazy spices -frozen delights -lychee jam/all sorts of jams -curries -refrigerated desserts -cookies/baked goods -drinks -lots more... This grocery store isn't huge, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in interesting/fun/super cool Indo-Pak stuff. Try your hand at making chana masala at home, perhaps! They've got what you need, much like Biz Markie. I wish that I hadn't been in a rush to get home, because I would've gotten the name of the really nice guy behind the counter at Anmol who gave us the heads up on this place. He was so nice! Next time you head to Anmol, make sure to pop in and check this place out. You won't be disappointed!

These rice bags are so Posh. All this beautiful rice for 14.99. Like dude this bag even has a zipper.

Where has this dosa been all my life? Having read a recent article about this restaurant, BF and I…read morewanted to come try it. I was concerned about the availability of vegetarian options, but there are a few options and they are accommodating. The space is fairly basic, but it has what you need. There are several tables available. They have a TV playing Bollywood-style videos. Parking is on the street. I saw a counter where it said you should order and pick up, but we had our order taken at the table and our food was brought to us. Everyone who worked there was very nice, but they did not speak a great deal of English. I ordered a cheese and butter non-traditional dosa, but I received a veggie dosa. I was not mad about it at all. The dosa was amazing - crispy and light and perfect and stuffed with veggies that were somehow still crunchy, but infused with great flavor, as if they'd been cooked for hours. The dosas come with a dal type of sauce, something quite hot and another cold sauce we couldn't identify, but it was good. BF had a masala dosa and it was divine as well. Great potato filling, amazing flavor and the same sauces and superb dosa texture and flavor. Not understanding the generous size of the dosa, I'd ordered a veggie fried rice as well. I just barely tried it since I was stuffed, but it was excellent as well. Fresh flavor, which was complex, despite the veggies remaining al dente, with a short grain rice that I haven't identified. The dish does have eggs, which the cook/server/owner cleared with me when I ordered. I look forward to having this food again and again, but I'll be hard pressed to order anything other than the dosa. It's all about the food.

It smells great and is clean. Watching the roti process is mesmerizing. We likely over ordered out of anticipation from how long we've had to wait to find another Malaysian restaurant. The roti stuffed with onion and spices and chicken with the curry sauce was delicious! Amazing flavors, not too spicy, so tasty! The spicy squid dish was warm and the flavor went all across the palate. Asked my date and heard "The noodles are so good!!" Please give this place a try.

    - great good, nice ambiance, good service - reservation…read moremade, not too crazy on a sunday evening - always looking forward to another visit! This is our 3rd visit for our 3rd birthday spent here! Love the food and had excellent service this time with Javier! To start, we ordered the Truffle Lamb Keema Sliders and Gunpowder Calamari. The sliders were very tasty and the buns were nice a crispy to contrast the soft meat inside. I didn't really notice any truffle flavor, but the pickled onions were perfect for the meatiness of the lamb. A great start to our meal! The calamari was crunchy and served in such a cute lil pot. I was thinking that a dipped sauce would be nice, but there was a small spread across the bottom of the pot. I think it would have been nice on the side so I could dip each piece, and because there didn't seem to be much at all on the bottom. For my main, I got the Branzino Malabar Curry. It was a delicious fish with a nice pour over table-side presentation. Not spicy, but very flavorful and plenty of fish and sauce for each scoop of rice. M'lady got the Saffron Butter Chicken, a classic choice! The chicken was moist and flavorful, with big chunks being served. She ordered it with Butter Naan and enjoyed each handheld bite dipped in the rich sauce. As our past birthdays have been, we had an excellent meal on our visit. We did not receive a birthday treat, but I account that to me rushing the process to get on out of there, so no worries there. I fear I am running out of new items to try! Hopefully in the near future I can see some new items being introduced!

Very nice setting with very good selection of traditional dishes. Great presentation and modified for the local tastes. I do have a crave towards goat curries, dosa and Biriyanis. Saffron is really good with those but lack a bit kick for me. If butter chicken is your favorite dish, you'd enjoy here. If you want a fine dining with Indian food, this is a great place too. Services were great too.

And we always try to get a lot of different dishes around the table so everyone can try something different. The food was as usual, delicious! We were in the back room due to our large group and were concerned that service would be impacted, but they were attentive and energetic. The owner came back to check on us as well. The large round tables were comfortable for our group of 8, and we enjoyed our evening. We'll be back next Christmas Eve ( and likely sometime in between)! One thing I noticed that was new (to us) was the open to pay the bill via Toast QR code. I'm starting to really appreciate that as I think it takes a load off the server and allows us to close out quickly. Thanks to everyone for taking great care of our family for the evening!!

We enjoyed the complimentary chips and dips and we both enjoyed our entrees. The chicken was very tender and the flavors were delicious. The food did take very long to come out and it also took a while to pay as it looked like one woman was doing most of the table service. We were also a little surprised to see each drink was $12. We just got a single rail vodka soda which came in a small glass. That price seemed a bit steep for that.
