I haven't had my hair done professionally since maybe last year in August. After my stylist moved to Torrance, I couldn't find anyone else to color my hair (as a Leo I tend to change my hair a lot). I've been to numerous places around the area, paying up to $600+ for hair color that was horrendous and even one stylist who pricked my scalp so bad with the application of dye that I think that's where I developed a dye sensitivity afterwards? (More on that later) and finally I found someone who actually gave me what I wanted! I was nervous to try maybe a 4th stylist again after my horrendous experience. But I wanted my hair done in time before my birthday. I had settled with Japanese Box dye because they actually lifted my hair color and not just deposited hair color but as someone with EDS, dying my own hair is tiring and it hurts my joints. And then with a toddler, it's hard to have time and also not be disturbed by my little one. I found Alexis on Instagram and I DM'd her for a consultation and she set me up with an appointment. I told her how my hair color tends to take in browns as black, since my hair is super porous (I have wavy hair & anemia) so she did a test strand on my hair and then we proceeded to get an appointment set up. I told her I wanted her caramel brunette hair color that I saw on IG except more warmer and she delivered. My scalp started to get very itchy during the toner process (this was something new to me since the previous hair stylist) and Alexis asked me if I wanted to wash it off but I told her I'll hang onto it for a little while more and she told me she'll check in 5 minutes. She checked in and I was hanging on and thankfully by the time I called her over she was on her way to check in on me cause my scalp was now on fire (I probably developed an allergy from the previous stylist who burned my scalp with dye by poking my scalp with the brush hard) She washed it off and my hair color came out exactly as I liked. Even my husband was so surprised at her age and skill and said "she's 20 years old? When did she start doing hair? 5 years old?" He was super happy that I actually came out happy and not crying or upset. Thankfully I'll be going to her again and now that she and I are both aware of my sensitive scalp now, we'll both be more prepared for the next sessions.
