I've been here before with the same person but this last time was a total disappointment. Because of my schedule I'm only able to go in on Saturday. Last Saturday i called to make an appt and was told they had availability in the moment so I went in as soon as we hung up. There was one person before me and one hairdresser available. I think the fact that the client before me didn't wanna get their haircut by that hairdresser should have been my first clue. I brought several pictures because last time I was told I didn't have enough reference. But i mainly showed him a picture of me (#5) and most of what I said was pointing to that picture. I repeated myself multiple times. Told him over and over that my hair would not look the same afterwards. He asked me if i meant that it would shrink (I have curly hair) I said yes. I told him this many times. This is basic knowledge, even someone who doesn't cut hair for a living knows. He said he was cutting my hair dry and that it would fall the way he cut it. That should have been another red flag. I understand curly hair should be cut dry, but to say that it'll stay the way he cuts it is straight up wrong. I told him 1. I wanted my hair longer than it was in the main picture I showed him (#5 in this review) 2. That i wanted a faux mullet 3. That i wanted to top and bottom longer than the middle (as a faux mullet should be) 4. I wanted the bangs layered and 5. That i wanted to bottom to flip up like in the picture 6. That i wanted the sides to be long enough that i have sides but short enough that I do not have to be putting my hair behind my ears to achieve the mullet look (as in picture #5 where I had pushed my hair behind my ears) I said this, especially the last point, so many times. Most of the consultation was about this/the middle/side of my hair. You can see in the pictures provided that i did not get a single thing I asked for. He trimmed the bangs which he said naturally layer it and that may be the case but i was asking him to layer them more and he didn't understand. He didn't know how else to do it other than how he had done it. I told him the lady that usually does my hair there layers it more. He asked me who it was but I don't remember her name but she wasn't there. So he kept asking me when was the last time I was there. I am bad with dates so I didn't remember and told him so but he kept insisting. I'm not sure why, knowing when I was last there wouldn't teach him how to cut my hair. He also had me tell him how she did it and i tried explaining but I didn't do a good job as I'm not a hairdresser nor should it be my job to teach him how to do it When he was done he asked me what I thought and got upset when I was honest and said that he cut the bottom too short. It was shorter than in the picture as it was, and having curly hair it was going to get even shorter. He kept saying he gave me exactly what we discussed and exactly what I asked for. The pictures I've provided show that is not the case at all. I've had bad haircuts before and im used to people not knowing how to cut curly hair so i would have gotten over it. Also not the first time I get it cut way shorter than I asked for, but getting mad and telling me this was what i asked for was incredibly rude. He refused to cut any more after that Before he started he suggested cutting half the length of the side/middle and i said no because that seemed too drastic and i wanted to see first how it would look if he cut less. He complained about how it would take more time but agreed to it. Once he was done he refused to fix it, said he wanted me to be happy with my haircut. That ship had long sailed. He offered to wash my hair and i do wish I had accepted the offer so he could see how my hair was gonna look after but at that point i just wanted to leave Picture #1 is what I left the salon with. It's cute but it wasn't gonna stay like that nor was it what i asked for #2 is what it looked like after i washed it #3 shows it's uneven and #4 is today I'm still struggling to style it to make it look nice. The only way is to push my hair behind my ears which I specifically and repeatedly said I didn't wanna have to do #5 is the reference picture and #6 is what my hair looked like before the cut

This was my first visit as a client to Hair Masters which my daughter recommended. I got my hair styled and retouched with Martha. Martha and the ladies are very nice and friendly. The place is nice and clean and they were very kind to offer me water or coffee, I chose the coffee, it was a great choice. Thank you.

So I was really scared to look for a new hair stylist and my hair was badly damaged due to repeated bleaching but I got an appointment same day with Martha. She really made me feel at ease and made me feel beautiful with the cutting of the damaged hair. I've never had my hair at this length but I'm loving it so far and I feel so much better and healthier. Thank you Martha!!! I will definitely be back. I also have to add that I loved how inviting, sweet and attentive the service was from all 3 ladies working there.

They are one of the few haircut places open during COVID. Not only do they give great haircuts, but they are nice and I wouldn't hesitate to come back. During COVID, they've opted for haircuts in salon chairs outside with mirrors. Even in this 100F weather, I didn't feel the heat as they are in a shaded area. Showed what style and cut I had wanted and Maggie helped explain the process to me. As a very anxious person, I felt automatically comfortable with the service and energy from the start. I've been coming here for three years and I can't imagine going anywhere else! Martha somehow always knows exactly what I want -- sometimes even better than I do. I can walk in with a vague idea and leave with hair I absolutely love every single time. Beyond her talent, appointments with Martha feel like catching up with a friend. The whole experience is relaxing, fun, and honestly therapeutic. Hair therapy really is the best therapy! Went in for a trim then decided on a toner, had just gotten my hair back to blonde and I thought the toner was just going to even out blonde, well I'm not blonde anymore. Not sure what color it is but all that work I did for nothing. Just be sure you know what you are getting. A high price to pay to have to redo it all yourself. $180 for a damp trim to ends, toner and not even a full blow dry. Just know what you are getting. Service was March 10th read more

No stars. Went to this place for the first time. I read the reviews and chose Martha to cut my hair. I felt she was rough when she washed and cut my hair. She seemed rushed during the whole process. When she finished cutting my hair, I looked in the mirror and saw it was uneven. I brought it to her attention and she said it wasn't. It just didn't look like a clean cut. I went home and my mom looked at my hair and said it was uneven. $70 for a bad cut. Now I have to pay to get it fixed. I guess you get what you pay for. read more

Maggie is so incredibly sweet and so nice! This salon is filled with so much love. 100% recommend this place. Everyone is so genuine and nice! I called in, not expecting much, to see if they could help with a color correction last minute and she said to come in and we'll see what we can do bc she had an opening. I came in within 10 minutes and sat in her chair and she instantly made such an impression on me, I definitely will be back! I had my cut with Maria. She offered me water as soon as I got there. She has a great personality it's like talking with your best friend she is so easy to talk to. I told her what I wanted and she gave her opinion and also recommended more so my hair would look better. I've gone with her twice. Recommended by my daughter and I recommend her to you as well. I've come here a couple times and this morning brought my daughter for a haircut. Every time I've been here, they've been quick and I've walked away happy with my hair. Convenient and inexpensive hair salon in La Verne/San Dimas area! I've gone a few times now and had Maggie trim my hair, and I've been pleased every time! She makes sure to hear what you want and checks along the way to make sure she's doing what you wanted. I had thick medium-length hair and trimmed it to collar bone length, and I was in and out in under 30 mins. As of this date, it cost $30, which you really can't find anywhere else for that quality for women's haircuts. So happy and I'll keep coming back! *Cash is preferred. Otherwise they accept online forms of payment like Zelle and Venmo. No cards read more

Martha to the rescue!!!! I got a bad haircut a few days earlier from someone who said she had been cutting hair for over 10 years. She was referred to me by a close friend so of course I went for it. Boy oh boy...what a disaster! It was probably the worst haircut I had since the time I cut my own bangs when I was in elementary school. What to do! What to do! The sky opened up and that led me to Hairmasters in La Verne. I called and was able to get an appointment the very next day. I was welcomed by Martha the owner. She assessed the situation and went right to work. It was like watching "Edward Scissorhands!" I was so worried I would end of with a pixie in order to correct the damage but nope...she made chicken salad out of chicken s$&@! My hair came out beautiful! Martha is a true artist and a ROCKSTAR and I can't thank her enough! P.S. Just to add, the salon team was so warm and welcoming. They complimented my new do and I walked out feeling amazing! Almost gave a 5 star.... Was nervous in the beginning, so then i said the hair will always grow back. Reading that this place over books in this case overlaps the booking. Not a problem. Arriving to the appointment i didnt sit past the appointment time too long. She was able to juggle the other person and i. Showed her the picture. She asked a few questions really fast. I really caught a part of the question. Oh well and just agreed assuming she new what she was doing. I even added a curl for an additional $20. At the end looked cute. Two weeks later decided to straighten out the due to find out one side was cut about two inches shorter and layered more on the right compared to the left. She was nice but im no longer returning anymore. I use to pay $60 in pasadena and was always satisfied only my salon lady retired at a young age. read more

My 17 year old son wanted a "wave" since his hair is straight and hard to manage. Found Hairmasters on Yelp and decided to call for an appointment. Explained to them what my son wanted and an appointment was made for him super fast! Got there got greeted by Martha and everyone else was SUPER nice and friendly. Can't tell you how many times I've been to a hair salon and they cut my hair too short even though it was down to my waist when I walked in. I did not have that problem with Maria. She listen to what I wanted, ask questions and did a fantastic job. read more

I need a hair cut so bad since during Covid Personal devices were closed for a while. So I wanted to try out for the 1 st time Hairmasters. I called in got an appointment right away with Maggie. I did look at their ratings and she really did have mostly good ones. So I got the cut and shampoo and was a nice experience. And I probably go back to get my kids hair done as well. read more

Maggie did my hair and she gave me a beautiful gray blonde balayage! I had virgin hair so Maggie was able to get my hair very light to get the nice color I was looking for. I had a really great experience at this salon, everyone was very nice including the owner Martha. They were also very careful following covid 19 procedures. They all had masks and gloves on and were cleaning frequently. They also had the door open to let air in and they had some hair cutting stations outside for social distancing. Came in after getting a flyer in the mail stating $10 haircuts for first time customers. I'm always on the lookout for a good stylist and always willing to try someone new. Maggie cut my hair and I loved it. She asked often how I wanted things, and was quick and full of experience. I also brought in a picture but mainly we communicated how I wanted the cut to be. Pretty much took off 4 inches and felt so relieved and happy with my hair. Maggie gave it volume and life. Came on a weekday, made an appointment and didn't have to wait. I originally came to her for color and highlights. The first appointment was over $500, and while the dimension looked nice when I left, the color faded extremely quickly within just a few washes. I reached out politely to let her know, and she offered to gloss it , which I understood as simply refreshing the tone. Instead, my entire head was turned into a single dark chocolate color. All of my highlights were completely covered, my hair became several shades darker than what I originally paid for, and the dimension I loved was gone. None of this was discussed with me during the service. She didn't even fully dry my hair before I left, so I couldn't see the true result until I got home. My hair was already dry from the first appointment, and this additional processing made things worse. When I reached out to express confusion and concern, she did not take responsibility or apologize. Her responses were dismissive, and at one point she simply replied "Ok," which made it clear she didn't care about the impact the service had on my hair or how I felt as a client. It was deeply unprofessional and left me feeling unheard. Throughout all of this, I remained kind, calm, and respectful. I work in the beauty industry myself, and I believe strongly in treating clients the way I would want to be treated , with care, honesty, and accountability. When a mistake is made, it's our job to take responsibility and make it right, unless a client is being truly abusive. That wasn't the case here at all, which is why her coldness and lack of remorse were so confusing and disappointing. Weeks later, my hair is still not the same color or look I originally paid for. I had a future appointment booked, which I canceled with plenty of notice, and politely asked for my deposit back. Only then did she inform me that deposits are nonrefundable , something that was never communicated at booking. She insisted the policy had been stated, but it absolutely was not. Keeping a client's money when they cancel days in advance, especially after a service that went wrong, is not ethically or professionally acceptable. Overall, my experience with Diana showed: Lack of communication during the service No accountability when the result was not what I asked for Dismissive responses when I expressed concern No empathy or care for the health of my hair Uncommunicated policy used to keep a deposit after poor service A cold, unprofessional attitude toward a client who was nothing but kind I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was stressful, expensive, and handled with very little professionalism or integrity. I would not return and cannot recommend her based on how she treated me throughout this entire situation.

For years the Owner, Martha, cut and colored my hair. One time I needed a cut on that day and she wasn't working so I asked another stylist to do it for me. I had had decent service over the years with Martha but my last three with her left me a bit unsatisfied. The other stylist did such a noticeably better job that I wanted to continue seeing her which I did 2 more times. After the last time I was told by that stylist that it was too uncomfortable a situation and she just could not see me any more. So I thought I'd give Martha a try again when I was informed by her that I was no longer welcome in her shop... Talk about petty. Take from this what you will but I will NEVER recommend a person with such thin skin to provide a service. She put me in a bad position blocking the other stylist from seeing me and then banned me like a scorned lover. Not a way to run a business! read more
