SassClass has become a huge part of my life. It went from being a place I wished my overworked personal schedule would allow to one day take a class to my community center where I meet my girlfriends weekly to recharge, have a great workout dancing and feeling inspired by the instructors, and finally being a place where women uplift & motivate each other with ego and outside judgement left outside the door. I started coming in January 2019 And came to a preview week where through ClassPass I could sign up for an hour long drop in class. I did the Sexy Stilettos preview with Sofia Marrapodi-bove and her energy and excitement and overall encouragement of the women in her class made me fall in love with her teaching style. So I knew I had to sign up for her Move to Miami video program. I didn't know anyone else in the program but I came to love everyone who participated. I felt like ai truly had a role in a group and came in excited every week to see the girls, to put in the work to dance and encourage all of us to be the fierce feminine goddesses that we ARE but that our every day life can often make us forget. The 5 week program gave me something to look forward to weekly while I was figuring out my new job situation, challenged and motivated me to learn choreography and moves I wasn't used to (for someone who has always loved to shake her booty, I finally learned how to twerk here! Haha) , & made amazing girlfriends that I look forward to seeing every week at drop-in sessions and get so excited with when we hear there's a new video program coming up! Fast forward to today. I'm now starting my 4th video dance program this week. I did two Fierce Feminine Hip Hop videos w/ Sophia: Move to Miami & 7 Rings which had two every different vibes but both were so fun and let me express different parts of myself. I also loved working with Sophia so much I decided for my birthday in July I wanted to host a private birthday music video for me and my friends in the SassClass Studio where Sophia choreographed a Sexy Stilettos dance to Sua Cara by Major Lazer featuring Anitta & Pabllo Vittar. I had SassClass sister participate as well as girlfriends who have never been to a drop-in class and they all raves about the idea of doing a video for a birthday party and we all had so much fun learning the dance and making the video come to life. Outside of that, This week I'll be starting my first Sexy Stilettos dance program with Emma Rosa Bigelow! I am so excited to do programs with all of the SassClass instructors and even more hyped that most of the girls in this group are ones I've danced with in my previous videos and it excites me because it's incredible to watch yourself AND your sisters (bc this place truly makes you feel like family) grow as dancers and as empowered kick butt women! We will be doing Señorita by Camila Cabello & Shawn Mendes and I don't know what could make this more of a #HotGirlSummer then doing as much SassClass's video programs as possible! read more

SassClass is the most amazing dance experience in NYC. I've tried my share of classes all around the city for the last couple years, bouncing between studios and instructors. Now I'm so happy to say that SassClass has become my home. They offer an amazing selection of classes and dance video programs between Sexy Stilettos, Fierce Feminine Hip Hop, Burlesque, Chairography, and Contemporary Fusion. I've tried mostly all of them, and I LOVE them. The instructors are ALL top notch, the studio is absolutely beautiful, and the energy in this place is amazing. There is no other place that I've ever felt such support from the staff and my fellow students. I've seen girls who have never taken a dance class before walk out with more confidence in their movement. I personally have found a stronger confidence in myself after joining these programs! I am living my best life here. Dance Video Programs: These are simply MAGIC. After 5 weeks of learning choreography, we make a music video on the 6th week. SassClass brings in an amazing videography and production team, photographer, and lighting director and the studio is transformed. We all get dolled up according to the theme and we slay the game. This one hour allows me to explore movement, improve on my dance skills, and get my weekly werk on. I even hosted my birthday here where SassClass provided a private one hour class for my friends and I, and I added on some time for photoshoot fun afterwards. I don't think I can begin to explain how happy I am that I found this place! I did not grow up dancing and have been trying to get out of my comfort zone over the last few years, taking drop in classes here and there but never really sticking with anything long enough to make any real progress. Part of what makes this place so great is the supportive, welcoming environment that Julia has created- I never once felt intimidated or like I didn't belong there. I am a singer and actress but I never felt very in tune with my body and after taking my first video program at SassClass, I totally felt like I was able to break through a lot of things that had been holding me back. I would 100% recommend taking a video program at SassClass, even if you don't think of yourself as someone who would want to be in a video. It's so helpful to be able to see yourself and it's something you will have forever. Plus if you have issues following through and busting through learning curves like me, it will help keep you motivated to stick it through to the end. Also, Julia has brought together some amazing teachers! Everyone I've taken classes with there has been so awesome and there are a bunch of different styles so there is something for everyone. I've now taken 4 programs here and had so many magical experiences and met so many great people! So if you are looking for not just a great dance class but a positive emotional and empowering experience, go there! You totally will not regret it and probably become addicted like me!!! read more

If you have been thinking about taking a class, DO IT! I just completed the 2018 Winter Burlesque dance video session with Tony Guerrero as the instructor. I do not have a professional dance background, but I do take dance fitness classes often and I would highly recommend taking SassClass' drop in classes or completing the dance video series. The sessions are structured in a way that everyone can succeed and feel sexy and empowered no matter your background, shape, or size. Julia has really created a sense of community that makes you feel like you can accomplish anything once the music starts. I chose the burlesque style because although I have taken a few heels classes, I thought adding the theatrical aspect would bring a welcomed challenge and push my comfort zone. Going into the first session, I was quite nervous, but my nerves were eased the moment I stepped foot into the beautiful and tranquil studio space. Julia greeted me at the door and her welcoming presence put me at ease. It was awesome to see the number of ladies that had been a part of the SassClass community for various sessions and had taken some of Tony's classes. I truly feel like the class sessions and the video shoot itself played to the strengths of each us on an individual level. Omg - just do this! This is the - by far - best dance experience you can find in NYC! A perfect opportunity for people with or without former dance experience to dance and perform in a music video in a very safe, friendly and welcoming yet sassy atmosphere with Julia at SassClass! She does the most amazing carefully thought through sassy and sexy choreographies and it all ends with a music video shoot - with professional people that will make the end result AWESOME! I did the two last series (yay!) thanks to a post from a former participant - and thought that I would do the same to spread the word of this amazingly fun experience! If you are curious about dance, wanna strengthen your inner confidence or elevate your sass - this is so worth it! Not only so you get to learn choreography, practice with an amazing teacher that make sure you know it and feel confident before the music video shoot - you also get a SassFamily for life that consists of the other - present and former - participants of the SassClass! Literally life-changing. I moved to New York from SF about 6 months ago and I was feeling lost and lonely here. That all turned around when I joined Sass! The women here are amazing - I love the team who runs this place and everyone who works here! You can feel the good energy the moment you enter the door. (Also, did I mention the studio is gorrrrrgeous?!) I've taken Taste of Sass which is the program for absolute beginners and also a bunch of drop-in classes in the fierce feminine hip hop and the sexy stilettos styles. All the teachers have their own little magic sauce that they bring to their classes so there's something for everyone - whether you're looking for inspiration, great choreography, amazing community, and positive vibes and energy, you'll find it all here and more! Next month, I'm hosting my birthday party here and I couldn't be more excited!! Me and a bunch of my friends will be doing a private class and video shoot with my favorite instructor Emma. About 6 months ago, I felt like my life was lacking something, but I wasn't quite sure what it was. I started researching dance studios in NYC since I had danced all my life until moving to NY and after continuously searching and being nervous to step foot into intimidating dance studios, I came across SassClass on instagram/yelp. Let me tell you guys, it has been one of the best gems that I have found since I moved to NYC 4 years ago. Walking in there for the first time, I was a nervous wreck and to be honest, there was no reason to be! All of the Instructors at SassClass were so welcoming, helpful, inspirational, and truly go out of their way to ensure you feel confident, empowered and are having an awesome time. Since I joined, I've now met a ton of amazing girls who have become friends, and I genuinely feel like I've become part of a loving family/community. Go to drop-in classes to get a feel for it, but my recommendation is to join their programs to really reap the full benefits of what truly amazing things this community has to offer! read more

My favorite studio in NYC... and beyond! I've tried my fair share of dance studios here and in Boston and Philly where I used to love. I danced most of my life but gave it up when I entered college. I was hesitant to get back into it but SassClass is the perfect place to train and expand on my skills without feeling pressured, intimidated, or compared to others. The Instructors are seriously the best, they work with the best choreographers in the city and they're not just super talented but are also all such amazing warm friendly people. The studio is also so beautiful, I love coming here after my crazy work days - it's a breath of fresh air just to walk inside this studio! Make sure to check out their dance video programs and workshops. There's nothing else like them out there. I mean, really, what else can you ask for?! I recently explored SassClass Studio with excitement, but unfortunately, my experience as a new client felt impersonal. While I understand the importance of policies, I believe that when a new customer expresses interest, there should be more attentiveness and personalized care. The studio's approach felt rigid rather than welcoming, which was disappointing. I respect the structure businesses need, but in service-oriented spaces--especially one built around creativity and self-expression--human connection matters. I wasn't concerned about the financial aspect, but I did expect a level of engagement that acknowledged me as more than just another transaction. While the studio may work well for returning students familiar with the system, I would encourage them to consider a more thoughtful approach toward first-time clients. A bit more flexibility and warmth could make all the difference. read more

I LOVE this class! The way in which Julia ( the lovely instructor) teaches the class makes everyone feel welcome and included. This class is comfortable for all levels. If you have never danced before and are looking for a safe judgment free place to start then this is the class for you! BUT don't think that since you are an experienced dancer that it wont challenge you. I have been doing dance and cheerleading for the last 10 years and the choreography that she comes up with is unique and very expressive. Not like any I have done before. Oh and did I mention the video shoot and photo session that you get to do?! Such a glamorous feel and so much fun. You get to see all of your hard work come together in this video and its yours to have forever! I participated in the Hip Hop class and am now doing the Burlesque series and both are so very different but equally amazing. YAY sass sisters :) read more
