This was our first time here-- the food was amazing and the staff were helpful and courteous. They all wore face masks and gloves, and helped with social distancing in the outside seating area. We ordered the salmon teriyaki and California roll combination plate for dinner, along with a great crunch roll (highly recommended!) and a salmon skin salad with a generous portion of avocado. The rolls were fresh and perfect, especially the spicy tuna rolls. Upon learning it was our son's birthday, they brought out these stuffed jalapeño crab apps with a candle! It was unexpected and thoughtful. We will definitely return here, for the great service and quality meal. read more

A cute little hole in the wall for Lake Forest people to get sashimi and sushi. Their service is awesome! There were only two servers that night and all the tables were full, but they tried their best to be as attentive as possible! I have t had a fried roll in a long time, so I thought their Las Vegas roll was great! I also had one of their special "Jumbo Scallop" sushi, but I thought it tasted a bit fishy and there were too much black pepper for me. Would love to give this place another try sometime! read more

After moving to the area and looking for a new a sushi place, I was starting to get discouraged that I would be able find a decent sushi place. Many local sushi places have hundreds of raving reviews, but fail to provide good food or good service, many even failed to provide both. What relief it was that we tried this place on a whim. My search for a GREAT sushi joint is over. We were treated by a friendly staff and realized quickly that the place was fairly busy considering the time and day we got there. In talking to the people next to us we quickly realized this was a local spot for many and most come on a very regular basis. The food was top notch and was on par with some of the best sushi I have had. We tried the typical items to feel the place out and were beyond happy with everything we had. We then got a little more adventurous and asked the chef to create items for us.....WOW, no need to order off the menu. He nailed it. If you enjoy oyster shooters (like I do) you must try it. The marguerite roll, the martini and the Caribbean roll are also must haves. The sushi was great as well. Honestly nothing I had was short of great. The pricing was slightly on the high side, but for the quality of food I would say it's a value. If you're looking for cheap prices, and mediocre sushi, this is NOT the place for you. So I wanted to like this place. Online info and pics looked great, reviews were great. The gentleman serving (maybe the owner?) was very friendly and polite. I thought highly of him. The food, unfortunately, suffered. I started with the Hanna roll, a great concept and was actually pretty good but with two flaws. The avocado pieces in the roll were almost all black, not good. The salmon and crab portions of the roll were good, but there were a couple of bites of the tuna that were borderline, another day or even 1/2 day and they would have been bad. Had everything been fresh, it would have been awesome. Oh, I must say the portions are generous and the meat to rice ratio on the sushi is good for me, lots of meat, not too much rice (with one exception). Then I had yellow tail, nice size on the meat, but again it was in the same state as the tuna I mentioned above. The spicy tuna hand roll was actually good, but too much rice on that one, and I could not finish it, but again, portions are generous. To be fair, I have seen similar issues at other places that I have been going to for years, post-covid quality is just not there and supply may be an issue. Sashimi has easily become a favorite sushi spot. The entrance to Sashimi through me off because the location seems somewhat abandoned. There are no other major stores nearby and the smaller businesses seen are 'mom and pop' and are spread out along the shopping center. But once we entered we were greeted by a server and the sushi chefs. We sat at the sushi bar and were treated to continuous and thoughtful service. We ordered the Scallop hand roll, Philadelphia roll, Joe's roll, and the Tiger roll. We also got iced green tea drinks. The environment was cozy and although the location is but secluded, there was never a shortage of patrons. This speaks highly of their quality of food. They offered us a discount card that can be stamped after visits to eventually receive 15% and 20% off a future meal. read more

My absolute favorite sushi place. It's a super sweet, welcoming atmosphere and the people who work there are extremely nice. Not only is service very attentive, but this restaurant has many unique rolls. Some of my favorites are the shrimp boat that has a raw quail egg on top, the "don't forget me" roll, and the "remember me." They are different and I attached photos as you can tell. The food and atmosphere was great, but I want to give a 5 star rating for the service. Extremely attentive and friendly, even during the busy dinner rush. I had a bit of sticker shock when I saw the menu prices, so I only ordered a few items. Speciality rolls range from $11-$18. Most of their rolls do not have rice- which is great if you're looking for a lighter type of sushi experience. The way they create and present their rice-less rolls is very creative. My absolute favorite was the "Remember Me" roll, which is spicy tuna and avocado on top of a fried Gobo leaf, which seems similar to a perilla leaf. This is a great place to come alone for lunch or dinner as well. That atmosphere is very relaxed and comfortable. It's a shame that almost everything else in the same shopping center has gone out of business. I really hope Sashimi is here to stay! read more

My friends have been raving about Sashimi for months. They toted that it was some of the best sushi they've ever had. Luckily, they took me here for a birthday dinner and I was blown away by the quality of the fish and how amazing everything tasted. We got the Tuna Tataki, Salmon, and Albacore sushi. Reading all the reviews here, I was really disappointed with the food here. We ate in the dining part of the restaurant not the sushi bar because we wanted to get Japanese food and sushi. As far as the food goes, nothing was really spectacular -- just meh. I ordered a combination dinner with sashimi and udon. It came with 3 tuna, 2 albacore and 2 salmon. When I get sashimi, I take after my Japanese grandma and prefer the cuts of fish not to be really thick. These were really thick cuts of fish. It is harder to eat and in my opinion, harder to savor the flavor of the fish when it is cut this way. Maybe it's me being really picky, but for as long as I have been eating sashimi and, I have been eating it since I have been a child, I prefer it cut thinner. The udon was not a huge portion and came with rib eye beef on the top. It was good, but I wish it was a larger portion. The combo was $16.50 and too expensive for what it was. Robyn got crab and cream cheese wontons and the Oriental Express roll which was CA roll with spicy tuna with deep fried unagi on top. This was $13.50. She liked her crab wontons but didn't finish the entire portion of her sushi and thought it was just okay. BF got an order of gyoza and a beef bowl. He enjoyed the gyoza but when he got the beef bowl, he wished there was more fried beef that came with the dish. The other thing was there was one waitress who was serving the entire restaurant, meaning the dining area and sushi bar. She seemed overwhelmed. It was too much for one person to handle even though the restaurant was small. I sat with an empty iced tea glass for a while, and Robyn and I ended up getting our food before my BF got his beef bowl also and we were trying to share our main dishes with him since he had nothing to eat while he was waiting. We were all a little puzzled with the Yelp reviews when we left here. There are so many great places to get Japanese food and sushi in South County and with the prices at this restaurant being a bit high for so-so caliber food, I really don't think we will be back. read more

Definitely 5 star for food, but had to knock a star off for service. Considering this place is in Mission Viejo, this is a stellar place for Sushi. When some friends couldn't make up their mind on what to eat, I just yelled out for Sushi and did some Yelping, found this place, jumped in the car and came here. This place is literally a hidden Gem. I was just there 30 minutes prior and didn't even see this place. Place was pretty crowded, but it is a bit small. A few tables, and of course the sushi bar. Nicely decorated and very quaint. We didn't sit at the bar, but yes, the changing color of the lights can be a bit annoying. We sat down and were immediately given warm edamame. Prices are a bit higher than other places, but believe me, well worth it. Everything was fresh. I like that this place doesn't pile up the rice like most places. Soft Shell Crab - Crab was cooked to perfection. Pieces just came off and taste was delicious. Caterpillar Roll - My favorite. There is a sweet glaze drizzled on the plate, along with siracha. Can we say this was mouth watering... Rainbow Roll - Very fresh pieces of Sashimi over the roll Alaskan Roll - Salmon was sweet and fresh BSCR - Had the right amount of flavor Agedashi Tofu - The texture of the fried batter was perfect. Maybe next time, we'll order it with the sauce on the side. Definitely a must for Tofu lovers. Albacore Nigiri- AWESOME Service isn't that great. It took a while for us to get our Sushi. But the server and sushi chef's are awesome. Definitely service with a smile. Just don't go in thinking that your order will be served immediately, even for sushi. They did give us complimentary pieces of Yellow Tail and Salmon Nigiri. The Salmon Nigiri is definitely something to order and was almost orgasmic. As I bit into the Salmon, the flavor burst in my mouth and I was a state of Euphoria (yes, this was food)... mmmm. so good.... Prices are reasonable, not extremely high. Most rolls averaged between $10-15. Bill for the above came out to just under $70. read more

Cute little sushi bar in the middle of nowhere. I have come to Sashimi twice in the past year when I am house sitting in Rancho Santa Margarita. Sashimi is a very intimate sushi bar that delivers great service and food. Being a vegetarian, I can only speak for their veggie rolls/options which are really great. The cucumber and avocado rolls were fresh, their veggie speciality roll was delicious (the sauce is amazing!), and the seaweed salad is out of this world good. The sushi chefs are very welcoming and quick to serve food. However, I have always come in as a dyad well before the evening rush, so maybe that has something to do with it. Whenever I am in the area and I want a special dinner treat this will surely be the place to go. Now to convince my carnivore friends to sample the fish to see if it is just as amazing as the veggie sushi! read more

Since it was fairly empty when we walked in on a weekday for lunch, the two of us were sat at a larger table, which was nice. Then we started off with some hot green tea and complimentary edamame while we perused the menu. They have so many types of rolls, we took our time. They have many which include shrimp tempura for those who are a big fan. We went with the power roll, shrimp lover roll, and spicy dragon roll. All of which turned out to be fantastic. They are large rolls with substantial portions of raw and cooked fish. Each roll has its own distinctive delicious flavor, with not too much rice padding. We were so full afterwards that we didn't end up ordering our salmon sashimi as planned. We will have to order that first, next time! The staff is very friendly, and our service was great. We were given a card for discounts at the restaurant as we continue to visit. Overall, I was looking forward to some fresh California sushi (I'll have to save sushi in actual Japan for when I have more funds), and my expectations were exceeded! Another hidden gem in OC, probably one of the best sushi joints in south county. The prices are good and the atmosphere is quaint, and as other reviewers have said the vegetarian rolls here are so good and so tasty they make you forget about meat.
