I had to find the Yelp page for this amazing business in Oakland's Chinatown, Sasha's House. I didn't realize they also sell traditional Chinese clothing for all sizes (including kiddos), because we've only frequented their outdoor tabling. I recently attended my first mahjong experience and purchased the coolest pair of mahjong tile earrings here. I also purchased a mini capybara with headphones, which is taken to most restaurants now as the stuffie of choice. The staff is so kind here and I can't wait to come back to the Pacific Renaissance Plaza soon. There is a special parking garage located conveniently underneath the plaza, pay before exiting/using the elevator. I found my qipao for my Tea Ceremony at Sasha's! The staff were friendly and patient with my sister and I as we tried on a large selection of their qipaos, which were all reasonably priced. I bought my qipao a year in advance and lost a bit of weight by my Tea Ceremony, but they were able to do a quick alteration and it fit like a glove. I wanted to lift the Phoenix design so it'd sit higher on my bust, but it was too complicated of an alteration and they warned the neckline might not sit as straight if they took everything apart. She has fantastic memory and remembered me and my mom from months ago, and she was just as candid, patient, and funny as we chatted in Cantonese. She seems to have even more selection than before and spoke to us more about the whole qipao creation process, from deciding fabric to design, even considering how the dresses will look in photos and what occasions they'll be best suited for. Very good selection of qipao. There were traditional qi pao, on the lower budget, and then higher end qipao for nicer occasions. They also had the traditional two piece wedding outfit. Many different colors. Modern designs. I tried on a halter qipao and I saw a few qipao with lace and fishtail design. I ended up purchasing a really nice bridal one priced at $300 which ended up being discounted. It was red lace with fish tail bottom. I tried on about 5 dresses. The owner was very patient. My mom then tried on about 5 dresses. Very fun occasion and I greatly enjoyed being in the store. We each bought a dresss. Happy to support a local business. I shopped online for qipao but honestly the pricing at Sasha's was comparable if not better. Very happy I got to try on the qipao in person because the fit is so important. read more

Great place to find a quipao! I came to find something not too expensive for my Chinese tea ceremony, since I'll be in it an hour max and I went over budget with my white bridal gown. I had been looking at Etsy and few other websites, and they'd either be outrageously expensive, or I was worried about fit (particularly when a lot were not refundable). I googled and found Sasha's house. The shopkeeper (who I assume is Sasha) was super sweet and patient. I tried on three different quipaos and was really indecisive. I am a size XS/0 and for her dresses, was a size small. They all fit good, with plenty of room to move. It was great to be able to try on a variety of them and move around and kneel, to get a feel of it. What's great is even though I'm insanely short, with heels, all these dresses would work. The prices for her quipaos range from $45 to $78 to $288--it all depends on the fabric and if it's got a lot of gold (vs "yellow) or if it's lined, etc. Prices are on the tags too, so you know she's not coming up with a random number based on clientele. I ended up choosing a beautiful dragon one, mid-range in price, that I don't need altered. My fiancé went with a blue suit jacket with gold dragons and gold cuff sleeves. We were hoping for black and gold, but she didn't carry it. We could've found one online, but the shopkeeper was so nice and spent so much time with us, we wanted to support her and purchase locally. We went with blue and it works with some of the blue on the dragons on my dress. Please patronize this place if you're looking for any Chinese outfits--whether simple or luxe, she really has such a great range. And much better prices than SF Chinatown where the $45 quipaos at Sasha's are $110+ there. read more

Sasha the owner was so patience with us, My daughter must have tried 10+ cheongsams. Sasha removed over 5 dresses from the mannequins. She worked hard to make a sale!! I thought Sasha was going to give up but she kept pulling out more dresses for my daughter. It was a lot of fun. We didn't feel pressured to buy. After a few hours with Sasha, my daughter found the perfect cheongsam. Not too glittery and overpowering designs. Also her shop was located in a safe location. I needed a qipao for my wedding reception but didn't want a typical traditional one. I had originally bought one online and came to Sasha's House with my mom to just help her find a qipao to wear. While my mom was trying on her outfits, I saw this red lace dress and decided to try it on just for fun. I immediately fell in love with it! Even though I already had a wedding dress, I decided to get this one and wear it instead. I'm so glad I came here and found it! My mom also got a nice qipao as well. The owner was very nice and helped us find dresses to try on. She let us try on as many as we wanted, and her prices seemed pretty reasonable. Although I hung out in the renaissance plaza a lot as a teenager, I never paid attention to this apparel shop. Fast forward to now - I am looking for a red cheongsam for my wedding, and my friend recommended me to check it out. It is a HIDDEN GEM in Chinatown! They have a great selection of Cheongsam of many styles and sizes at very a reasonable price. The boss lady pulled out like 10 dresses for me to try on and patiently waited for me. She cares about what fits me the best, even mindful of my budget. I ended up picking this one (pictured) that's on the cheaper end ($35) and paid a small fee for alteration ($10). She gave me a discount cuz it's the last one. In general the price ranges from $30 something to the hundreds. After trying on many, I settled with this one which the fabric is soft and I feel comfortable in. She has an in house seamstress who specializes in cheongsam alteration - sometimes it's free and sometimes you pay a small fee depending on the dress. I'd recommend going in person here instead of purchasing one online somewhere because you can feel the dress and can adjust it to your fit. The nicer cheongsams are in the hundreds online but here you can find one thats way cheaper and fits way better! read more

I had an all black attire event this past weekend for New Year's eve, and decided I wanted to wear a Chinese dress. The lady was really nice and very helpful.
