When I first started coming to Sarton for pelvic floor physical therapy, I could hardly use the restroom without a burning sensation and not being able to fully empty my bladder. My muscles were so tight and contracted. After seeing Joanne (JoJo) I can now pee on my own without any pain and I feel as if my bladder has been empty. Also, I no longer have pain during sex. My muscles are pretty much healed and back to normal. Joanne has been such an amazing therapist. I couldn't ask for anything better :) I feel like I am starting to get my life back together after 2 years of pain and constantly feeling uncomfortable. The staff here is wonderful! The ladies at the front desk know me by name as soon as I walk in. They always have a huge smile on their face and make me feel welcomed. I would also recommend Becky as well. All women should get pelvic floor therapy after having a baby (even before can be helpful). That's the standard of care, something like 8 sessions in France and other European countries. I had the pleasure of working with Lisa, who is the Pilates instructor at Sarton. As I was 23 weeks pregnant at that time, I needed help in strengthening my core to prepare for baby's growth (and increased back pain as a result!) as well as help with better blood flow to minimize swelling. Lisa really took the time to understand my unique needs and situation, and created a customized program for me. I have worked with personal trainers before that I felt were merely trying to kill time during our sessions. Lisa, on the other hand, provided me with as much information as possible during our time together, so I never felt like my money and time were wasted. Unfortunately, I only got to work with Lisa three times as I was temporarily visiting California from out of state. (My sister, who is a Sarton patient, recommended working with Lisa during my visit). I have spent the past decade+ dealing with endometriosis, multiple surgeries, and constant pain. I have been a patient of Sherine's for several years now, and cannot begin to describe how much pelvic floor physical therapy has helped me -- more than any other medicine, treatment or physician has helped. Physically, my pain and muscle tightness/scarring has improved vastly, and I know how to deal with flare ups when they do happen. I have dealing with pelvic pain/issues after a hysterectomy 10 years ago. I tried many PTs and through my search I found Sarton Physical Therapy. Since I live out of state, but have family in California, I decided to set up appointments with Julie when I was visiting. Julie is very friendly and very knowledgeable--sharing so much information. She truly wants her patients to learn and heal. I know that I will be able to move forward. Julie showed me what I can do when I am home and what my therapist can do as well, until I return and stay for a longer period of time. I regret that I did not set up appointments sooner with Julie and that I didn't stay for a longer than a week this past May. I cannot thank Julie and her team enough for giving me my life back! A few months after a major surgery 5 years ago, I began to have pelvic pain symptoms that felt like a bladder infection with no infection present. After a series of humiliating tests and misdiagnoses, I was finally referred to pelvic floor physical therapy. I was scared, in lots of pain and had no idea what to expect. Not only did Julie's team ease me into the process at a pace that was comfortable for me, but I saw real results and significant decrease in my pain within the first few visits. I started with weekly appointments for the first few months, then was able to decrease the number to bi-weekly, then monthly as the time between my appointments and the return of the pelvic pain increased. After I had my first baby the nurse at the hospital told me if I was experiencing any pain after my recovery period was over, that it was not normal and to seek help. About two months later I found myself searching online for answers and stumbled across Sartan. Went to Sarton Physical therapy after 5 years of pelvic and back pain following my hysterectomy. After only a few weeks my pain has improved immensely. They have taught me several things I can do at home to help maintain the improvements they have made. I have seen different therapist there and all of them have been top notch. This review is long overdue. If it wasn't for Sarton, I would still be in pain. I came here after the birth of my second child because I was experiencing constant back and pelvic pain. It was affecting my mood and my ability to care for my kids. Julie Sarton is great at diagnosing your condition and is just a wealth of knowledge. Every time I meet her, I feel like I am getting a crash course on human anatomy and body mechanics. I hope she writes a book one day. I have seen almost all the therapists at Sarton, and I can honestly say that each one is fantastic. They have worked on my weak core, my tight pelvis, and have given me tools and exercises to "be my own therapist". Lisa, the pilates instructor, really knows her stuff and I look forward to seeing her. She is kind and doesn't judge my wobbly body, and makes each workout interesting. So excited my midwife recommended I come here for physical therapy with Whitney! I finally feel like there is some hope for my core strength (or lack thereof after having my babies Jan '14 & Sept '15). She's super knowledgeable and really understands all the changes that take place during and after pregnancy and labor. I only wish I had found her sooner to start the rehab process of my super stretched abdominal muscles, and that I had known to see her during pregnancy to strengthen but also learn to relax my pelvic floor during labor. Anything that could have helped me have an easier shorter less traumatic labor would have been worth its weight in gold. I recommend any mamas to be or recovering mamas to see her right away , I'm sure there's some aspect she can help every woman with. I can't say enough about Dr. Sarton and her wonderful staff. I have a very popular California HMO and was first referred to physical therapy by a Urologist who (after 6 months of going round and round with multiple doctors at said HMO) finally diagnosed me with pelvic floor dysfunction. I was finally happy that they figured out what was going on with me but I could not get my first PT appointment for 9 weeks! This is when I went outside my HMO and found Sarton Physical Therapy. I finally did try my HMO PT and then couldn't get my second appointment for another three weeks! Not only that, I was just disappointed with the whole treatment. I think she did an actual 15 minutes of actual physical therapy so I went right back to Sarton. This is what they specialize in and after just 4 sessions, I feel 90% better. I've seen all three therapists from Sarton Physical therapy (Julie, Nicole and Mona) since March 2014 and I've only had positive experiences. They're all knowledgeable, friendly, and make you feel comfortable during your ups and your downs. Professional on all levels, they will go above and beyond to make you feel better. Regardless of how you're hurting, they'll make suggestions, even if it doesn't have to do with your pelvic floor directly (e.g., back, legs, feet etc.). There's something new I learn about my body every visit (no joke), and this makes me feel more comfortable about my symptoms and confident in my progress. I've been going there since March of 2014... and I regret not having gone in earlier. I'm a male and have a condition that can take 1-2 years to heal, so it's been pretty tough. Despite this, I have seen healing. Yes, there are setbacks, but overall I'm at a better place now than when I came in initially. Please don't hesitate to go in. Your initial visit is generally with the owner, Julie. Trust me, go in and you'll see what I'm talking about. She's so warm and welcoming. Lastly, they don't just work with you; they'll work with your doctors as well and suggest people whom they trust and have seen success with from their other clients. After being diagnosed at the age of 8 with IBS I have lived in pain for 20 years. Money thrown for colonoscopy-nothing found. Doctor after doctor who quickly brush me off with more medicine to try nothing worked. When I had my period for 4 weeks on one week off for 4 months straight and in severe pain every single day- my obgyn telling me just take birth control you'll be fine I felt I couldn't function. Best physical therapy clinic, hands down, for pelvic floor dysfunciton, vulvodynia, interstitial cystitis, and lumbosacral problems. Julie, the owner, is so compassionate and knowledgable and up to date, and it's very clear she is passionate in her work about helping people in pain. Unlike other similar clinics, she has more updated equpiment, such as a hot laser, and spends over an hour with you sometimes, whereas other places spent about 25 minutes. She answers all your questions, makes you feel comfortable and at ease, and I always feel leaving better both psychologically and physically. She is well-connected with specialists in the area, and therefore can work with your doctor. Staff is super nice, and they have an amazing massage therapist, Sergio, that' really helps complement the overall treatment. I have been going to her for about 3 years, and in those years she's moved three times,and i've followed loyally. i trust her 100% with my body, which is rare for me, since i have been hurt by physical therapists before. Sarton PT is a first class therapy clinic. The clinic has a very inviting atmosphere that provides a sense of comfort from the moment you enter. Although known for expertise in pelvic floor dysfunction, I believe Sarton PT excels in any condition or injury requiring PT rehabilitation. Following surgical repair of a torn meniscus and torn MCL, I was sent to another clinic where I was aggressively rehabbing. Unfortunately, treatment was too aggressive and I struggled with constant inflammation and the formation of calcium deposits. Upon meeting with my surgeon, we discussed possible surgical intervention as I continued to fall behind in rehab goals and struggle with ADL's and quality of life. I visited Sarton PT and was paired with Brooke. Through weekly visits, use of their Rapid Release Technology and a unique program designed for me to follow between visits, we had a break through. I am now 6 months post-op and have progressed ahead of the rehabilitation curve according to my Orthopedic Surgeon while we are no longer discussing surgical intervention. I have gone to Sarton Physical therapy for a year and a half for chronic pelvic pain including coccydynia (tailbone pain) pudendal neuralgia. These ladies worked at both Hoag hospital and UCI and have vast knowledge and resources. They are able to refer you to the best doctors to work in conjunction with your issues. I truly believe that these ladies know more about pelvic pain than any doctor I have seen, and I have seen many, that usually give up on me. These ladies are constantly going to the latest conferences to craft their skills. They also have an on-site masseuse and a couple of pilates instructors that can work in conjunction to help you with your pelvic floor problems. Also, they are extremely sweet, hard-working, and funny, so you get two types of therapy in one session - one that works physically on your pelvic floor problem and the other mentally to cheer you up after being treated! read more
