what a lovely restaurant my family and i stumbled across as we searched for food! so warm and cozy in here, all the food was so delicious we devoured our food within 20 minutes so I didn't get any pictures but get the Cannelloni alla Ricotta e Spinaci (v) and you will not regret it !!!! unbelievably good. As an Italian food connoisseur, I was amazed! I never thought I'd come across such incredible Italian food in Scotland (I travel to Italy a lot). My sister goes to Glasgow every year and this is her favorite Italian restaurant in the world. I had to check it out my first time visiting and I'm glad I did! We got a nice big glass of Chianti, bruschetta with burrata, lasagne al forno sarti, penne alla norcina, the amarena cherry ice cream, and lemoncello to finish. A Slice of Italian Heaven! My wife and I recently had the pleasure of visiting Glasgow and what delightful a experience it was. One night on a whim, we decided to see what Italian restaurants we could find and stumbled upon this gem. Being from the States, we've eaten Italian in NYC, Chicago, Boston, Baltimore, Philadelphia, and Harford, so our expectations weren't that great, boy, where we WRONG! From the moment we walked in, we knew this was going to be a special occasion. The aroma of Italian in the air was magnificent. The vibe was old-world Rome, so once seated, we couldn't wait to order and let the games begin. I stated with a Peroni and ordered the Gamberoni alla Griglis, which was 5 butterflies king prawns with chili, garlic, parsley, and EVO as my appetizer. They couldn't have any better even if Nona had made them herself. My wife ordered the Cozze Alla Livornese O Cozze Al Vino Bianco, which were Blueshell mussels (ther world's finest) in garlic, chili & tomato or steamed in white wine for her app. Our main dishes were the Spaghetti Alle Polpette Della Nonna, which was their homemade pork and beef meatballs, served with spaghetti in a ragù sauce. If you screw this up, it ain't Italian. My wife ordered the Tortelli Al Cinghiale, which were large filled ravioli with a wild boar and vegetable filling in a rich red wine ragu from the mountains of Tuscany. She still raves about it today. Sorry, but it looked so good that we digged in and forgot about pictures! Finally, on to desert, which were outstanding in their own right. If it's Italian for me, it's Tiramisu. BTW, there's NO such thing as strawberry tiramisu, so whoever created that in review doesn't know Italian. My wife had the medley of Italian ice creams. Both were delicious. I had to finish it off with an Expresso Martini and a cappuchino, which was a mistake. Because I was up all night from the caffeine. We couldn't have asked for anything better on such short notice. The biggest tip I would suggest would be to call and make reservations. We made ours about an hour before being seated. This place packs them in, and they will accommodate reservations before walkins, so you get much better service and seating, which the service was outstanding in its own right. So if you're looking for old world Italian flare but can't leave Glasgow, you can't good wrong at Sarti. We highly recommend and would return for 2nds and 3rds. It was such a treat to get back to Sarti after 3 years! We used to always sit in the upstairs section on Wellington Street, but this time only Bath Street was open. We made a booking for Sunday evening and were seated right away. It was surprisingly lively for a Sunday night. Although the ceilings are low at the entrance, the back of the dining area has a sky light and you can see into the kitchen. It was a nice atmosphere. We got the caprese starter, which was pretty good. Everything was fresh. The mozzarella was just fine. For mains we got our old favourites: lasagne for my husband and carbonara (no cream) for me. It was delicious, perfectly cooked and seasoned. I do wish they'd poured off a bit of the pancetta fat, but other than that it was amazing. We ordered a couple of the current desserts, mine was a coconut ice cream with hot chocolate sauce (and plenty of it!). My husband's was a pistachio ice cream with some toppings. Classic Scots-Italian desserts, we really enjoyed them. Service was great, it was comfortable, and we'll be back ASAP. read more

Let me just straight get to the point! There's something for everyone here, and there's also one thing for everyone- the not to missed STRAWBERRY TIRAMISU. That's not the name on the menu, but I'm not arguing with the bard, so what's in a name? This exceptional dessert, which is Homemade, (like their regular tiramisu, which is also excellent) was made fresh in the morning, and it's melt in the mouth goodness, except with the gentle and only a very tad tangy was like a hug of sweet delight! Big Thank you to the cheerful young lady who told us that it had been made just that morning and suggested we try it! This place is right by our hotel. The rooms do not have a fridge, so we made a very wise executive decision. We purchased our dessert for the next day, and requested that the restaurant save it for us in their fridge. We're set for today. And, oh yes! They have quite a variety on their menu. Everything else we took was good, Two pizzas, one dish of lasagne, and one fillet of bass with freshly cooked vegetables. It was all good! Oh, and house white wine, good opening notes, then a tad dry, peroni on tap, also good. Of course, the regular coffee chocolate homemade Tiramisu which was excellent, and the Strawberry on the cake? It was the Homemade STRAWBERRY TIRAMISU, flush with the sweetness of young love! We popped in tonight, first visit and we weren't disappointed. It's small, authentic and the smells as we entered were amazing. We were given complementary olives, always a nice touch, with our drink. The menu was varied and average priced. I loved looking at their deli bar as we waited on our food, also their impressive wine rack. I ordered my favourite spaghetti gamberetti e zucchini, it didn't disappoint. It was a huge portion so I was stuffed, no room for anything else. I liked that they weren't overly intrusive but when we needed them they responded quickly. I also like that you can watch them cook your meal. I'll definitely go back. read more

If you're looking for an authentic Italian, then look no further. Home made pasta and pizza is their speciality, and special it is. It's mega tasty, and they don't scrimp on the toppings/ingredients. The restaurant itself looks like it's been taken right out of Italy - there are random books and artifacts dotted around the place. It's very charming and quaint for a Glasgow city centre restaurant. The staff are friendly and old fashioned (not many places pull a lady's chair out for her... bless). High quality for decent price - what's not to love? read more

It's not often that I'm bold enough to go into a restaurant in the evening simply for coffee and cake, but I did just that this week at Sarti's on Bath Street, and I won't look at Starbucks in the same way ever again. Now, places like Starbucks and Costa have their place. When I want coffee, and I want it now, to go, these establishments deliver like no other. But, when I want to sit down with a couple of pals and chat, commercial chains really don't hit the spot. Myself and two of my Girlfriends came here for a coffee, some cake and time to catch up and that's exactly what we got. As you walk in the door to Sarti (which is off the path and down some steps, into a lovely wee heated outdoor area) you're immediately captured by its effortless charm. To the right, a small section with little tables and LOTS of wine bottles filling every inch of space, the perfect place for a Latte. We ordered our coffee and some cake, I had a massive slab of Tiramisu which was lovely, and sat in the chilled out ambience to gossip. Waitresses went in and out the door with carafes of red wine to the group outside, and brought snacks to the table next to us, where a family sat before going to the cinema. It was a really nice atmosphere. We left a whole three hours later, having not been bothered once, and paid a bill for three coffees and cakes of £21. Incredibly reasonable prices, great coffee and delicious cake, and a quiet coffee haven that I'll be sure to visit again. read more

We've all been there... Walking home from the pub then the idea of pizza pops into your head. My pizza radar was guiding me towards Sauchiehall street where I'd find something filthy, probably served under a mound of donnar meat and kebab sauce. Then I stumbled across Sarti on Bath street, it was nearly half 10 and they were closing up but I thought I'd try my luck. You won't find any donnar meat in here, this is proper pizza. I had chicken and spicy Italian sausage. He even asked how I wanted it cooked, I went for thin and crispy, just the way it should be. Needless to say it tasted amazing. I haven't had a pizza this good since I lived in Torino. And it was much cheaper than the likes of Dominos. There's no shortage of Italian restaurants in the city centre but I'm yet to find one as authentic as this. I can see myself becoming a Sarti regular! read more

Sarti's has been around for years, and I've always heard great things about it. Whenever I've passed by I've always wanted to go in but for whatever reason, never got round to it... until last month. I was here for a birthday dinner celebration and was really looking forward to it. The menu was pretty extensive but I wasn't feeling all that peckish so decided to go for something light. I went for the caprese salad and was intrigued as to what it would be like as it was around £8 which I thought seemed pretty steep for what is basically mozzarella, tomatoes, some leaves and balsamic vinegar. Still, it's Sarti's, I thought to myself, so they'll do it pretty well. I have to say, when it arrived, I was rather disappointed, the portion was pretty measly and it wasn't worth the money at all. I've had my share of caprese salads in my time and this one was mediocre to say the least. I'm not a huge fan of the decor, the dark wooden chairs and tables are a bit too high school canteen and we were a group of seven all cramped round a tiny circular table in a corner where you couldn't swing a cat. Oh and because we weren't a big enough group we had to pay a ridiculous gratuity which I think is an absolute joke, quite frankly. I never go to a restaurant without leaving a tip but when forced to do it, I find it rather rude, it added around £25 onto the bill! Well, I'm glad I'd never been in before, and I certainly won't be going back again. read more

Me and my boyfriend decided to try here one Saturday night when we had no plans. I had heard good things about this well known place. It is a family run restaurant which has been part of the Glasgow scene for years. The inside is typical authentic Italian. There are deli items placed around the restaurant and Italian drinks which you can buy. The staff were typical Italian hosts..warm and friendly which was nice. The food. Well it was average. I ordered the Fruit de mer salad (seafood salad). There was a good amount of seafood on the plate but I have had nicer in Glasgow. The prawns weren't big enough for my liking! My boyfriend ordered seafood spaghetti. He liked the tomato sauce, but the amount of seafood was slightly lacking. Both dishes were reasonably priced but there was nothing special about it. We ordered tiramisu for dessert..and again this was perfectly nice but nothing that wow'd us! Had a few aperitifs at the end which were nice. I am a big fan of amaretto so we got this and decided to try Frangelico aswell. This was the first time I had tried the hazelnut equivalent and I am in love with it. Three of us popped into this cozy basement café for lunch. The waitstaff were extremely courteous and helpful, which was great since it was our first day in Glasgow. The lunch menu featured a starter and a main or a main and a dessert for £11. We ordered calamari, bruschetta, and an involtino with mushrooms and eggplant for starters. They were all good, all richly tomato-based. For mains we tried a penne pasta with ham in a rich cream sauce, risotto with chicken and mushrooms, and porchetta with roasted red potatoes and greens. The plates were very full and we couldn't finish everything, which concerned the manager because he thought we didn't like the food. Just like my mother! All in all we agreed that everything we tried was very good but not exceptional. The service however was excellent from start to finish. read more

I am a big fan of Italian food and Sarti did not fail to disappoint. In a city filled with imitation Italian food Sarti stands out as the real deal - this is most likely because it is owned by an Italian family (that always helps I suppose). The wine list is impressive and we had a really tasty bottle of Shiraz for under £20. As a vegetarian I usually struggle to find a decent option but Sarti had me covered with the Piemontese peppers stuffed with capers, parmesan & olives - yum. They also have a Sunday roast option, a deli and do take way food so if you want to treat yourself then this is a safe bet. read more

Given the west coast of Scotlands history of Italian ice cream shops and cafe's you would hope Glasgow had at least one top notch Italian restaurant, and it does in fact it has a few and Sarti's is one of them. Fairly traditional Italian fare (avoiding most of the British Italian cliche's) made to a good standard with authentically rude staff and quick service. Had a relatively flying visit today for a quick coffee and a catch up with a friend. I'm fussy with coffee, and with the types of cups they come in. I like a cup or a mug where you can get your fingers through the handle and get a proper grip on them, none of these silly half handle things you can only grip on to and hope you don't burn your fingers... Oh well, at least it is decent coffee that they serve here! A nice frothy cappuccino, made with a smooth coffee blend, I only wish there had been more of it. We are a family of 3 and after popping in to Bloc+ on a Wednesday night and feeling VERY out of place, we looked in to Sarti and knew right away that we'd made a great choice! We had the spaghetti with ragu, same but with meatballs, and tagliatelle with chicken & broccoli in a light parmesan sauce. The 17 year old practically licked the plate after devouring his spaghetti and loved the ragu! All were served very hot and were wonderful! Cappuccino, selection of biscotti, and two other desserts were as good! Price for three dinners, desserts & two drinks was very reasonable! Service was very good! read more

Lunch visit on a Saturday. We got there at 11:30, fairly quiet but soon packed out. Restaurant is fairly basic could probably do with some work to make you feel more at home. 6 of us visited for my sons 29th birthday, have been on several occasions and have always enjoyed ourselves, however, we waited a long time before receiving our meals which apart from 1 soup and 2 flatbreads for the table to share, were all main courses which turned out to be a bit disappointing for most of the party. My son sneaked off to settle the bill which was supposed to be my treat therefore it was not until the following day I found out the waiter had hand-written a 20% service charge onto the till receipt, which took our bill to £230.00. I am absolutely disgusted at this action, we do not frequent restaurants who add mandatory (which by law they are not) service charges as it is the customers perogative whether to leave a gratuity or not. I have to agree with the other reviews. The food is lovely but it is badly let down by the service staff. I am not sure what the problem is, but you are made to feel pretty unwelcome! The owners need to get this sorted as that sort of service leaves a bitter taste in my mouth for sure! read more

This is a nice authentic feeling Italian restaurant. The food is very nice (especially the mussels in white wine sauce which is divine!). This would be a very nice restaurant for dinner if it wasn't for a couple of things letting it down. Firstly, the staff were quite grumpy and not very helpful. Secondly, when I was there I ordered a half pint but I was charged the cost of the drink and a further £8 for reopening the bar despite not being told it was closed and that a charge would apply. I didn't know anything about the charge until I recieved my bill which I obviously wasn't happy about! I won't be going back, which is a shame because the food was really nice. read more

Went in with my girlfriend as she wanted to buy a bottle of wine and we decided to stay for a drink. A member of staff asked if we would like to see a menu, we told her that we weren't really in for food but would take a look in case something jumped out and made us change our mind. Another member of staff came to see if we wanted to order anything and when we politely declined, she shot a dirty look at us, stomped off and shouted something in Italian to the lady working behind the bar. Unfortunately for the waitress, my partner is fluent in Italian and she insisted we leave immediately. She wouldn't tell me what was said until we were well away from the place but when she finally did, we swore to never go back. This was over 5 years ago and we have never set foot in the place since. They could have excellent food but the disgusting attitude and the arrogance of thinking they can bad mouth customers by speaking in another language means I will never go back to find out! read more
