Got the chicken teriyaki. Pretty solid meal if you want a simple rice and meat. Came with lots of food, we ended up bringing home leftover. They don't have 'no sauce' as an option so we got 'light sauce' for the toddler. They're located at the food court area. Near shake shack. They have some crane games in the corner to kill some time while you wait for food.

Found myself doing a little shopping here in Del Amo Mall looking for some Tommy Bohama cologne among a few other things. When the appetite geared up, I happen to walk past the food court and Sarku Japan caught my attention, and by extension my taste buds. Proceeded to order the chicken teriyaki plate with extra chicken to go with it. With some don't realize is that if you have any appetite at all and have any size to you, you are going to have to get the extra chicken or beef by sheer default, and I happen to think they know that. Lol I was curious to see how this location stacked up to the mall I'm closest to in Fox Hills, Culver city. The food at both locations are good, and this was solid as far as taste and quality goes. I'd even go so far as to say that when they got through adding their extra portion to the plate, it seemed at least 10 to 15% more chicken than the location in Fox Hills, Culver City. And while the line took quite a bit long considering there weren't that many orders ahead of me, it was a solid outing. I'd recommend this location in their food court here in Del amo.

VONS SUSHI TO COMPARE WITH

My sushi roll earns 5 stars from me. Everything about the experience felt sufficient to good, and the quality exceeded my expectations but it's a mall so my experience was a very solid 4 stars. Sushi and Japanese food cover a wide range, and within the fast-casual sushi category, this place holds its own. They assemble the rolls right in front of you, which makes a difference. The rice, sauces, and ingredients taste fresher because everything is made to order. The pricing is also hard to beat. I got the Red Bull roll. The selection is limited to six rolls, with three being slightly more specialty options, but it works for what it is. There's no real ambiance since it's in a busy mall food court and you bus your own table. Even with Mitsuwa nearby, this is still a strong, convenient option. I may check out Mitsuwa next time and compare. Honestly, none of these bigger thoughts were on my mind when I stopped by on a Sunday afternoon looking for something quick and relatively healthier during a shopping trip. It fit the bill perfectly. In a food court full of fried and heavier options, having fresh sushi available is a great alternative. For comparison, I also had Vons sushi two days later and attached a photo (clearly labeled) just for reference. I'm impressed by the workers such a demanding a fast paced job and they handled it well.

I came here to get some sushi for a quick lunch. It was a little busy with all the orders, but service was good. I got the Salmon Avocado Roll, which came in eight rolls. It was good, nothing spectacular though.

CHICKEN TERIYAKI

The restaurant is located within the mall, so expect the sorroundings to be filled with people and a lot of restaurants nearby. The ambiance was quite pleasant and I enjoyed waiting for my order while watching the food being made in front of me. Sarku Japan has very kind staff who were willing to help at any point during the order. I have no complaints about the service since the experiance of watching the chicken teriyaki bowl being made was a very interesting experiance. The meal was cooked exceedingly, the chicken just wasn't as flavorful as expected. But however, I had a fun time trying it for the first time and I loved the way they cooked the rice. Thank you for the service and food!

I was craving sushi and I decide to come here because it was close to my job. I ordered a rock and roll and Bull roll. Service was quick and staff was very friendly. The rating was strictly based on the food. The rock and roll was delicious- the bull roll I could have done without. The chunk of the imitation crab leg was too much, very overpowering.

Very friendly service!!! I was given a sample of the chicken and it was soooo good!! So we decided to order two plates. The chicken, shrimp, noodles and veggies 7/10 It just needed more flavor!! We also got the beef and chicken plate with rice and veggies and did not like the beef. 4/10 for that one, not sure if it wasn't cooked right or if it was just fat but it was not appetizing My daughter got the rainbow sushi and those were okay. I got the California rolls and they okay too, 6/10 Veggie spring rolls 2/10, the veggies inside the spring rolls were sour. I've never had a spring roll where the veggies in there are sour. I just decided not to eat them. Giving it 3 stars because the service was great and really friendly which is actually the only reason why I decided to get something from here aside from tasting the chicken and it tasting great!!

Super busy Saturday at lunch, so it's a very popular place. I ordered on the app and got $5 off my first order. Had to tell them at the counter that I had an online order because no one else had one and I was afraid they didn't have my order. It took a few minutes past my estimated time to get my food. The food is fresh and very tasty. The chicken was a bit too tough for my toddler to eat, but she liked the noodles and shrimp and California rolls. The food is quite salty, so probably best for an occasional treat.

Wanted a substitute from Yoshinoya, since I was in the mood for some teriyaki minus the rice. This place did not dissapoint. This is a fast food dining place located in the Del Amo Mall. If I closed my eyes, I swear I would be eating at a fine Japanese restaurant. Yeah, that good. Fresh and delicious that hits the spot. I recommend because the food is delicious and inexpensive.

Chicken teriyaki with siracha sauce

Somehow Sarku Japan always hits the spot! I go back and forth from the chicken teriyaki plate and the shrimp plate. They're both equally as good! The cashiers are always in a rush to get your order, however I kind of expect that when they have an extremely long line. The chicken is really juicy and the teriyaki is a little sweet but nothing too absurd. The rice and veggies are just right! If you're in the food court and don't know what to order? Stop by here and try it out.

Teriyaki chicken (get it!)

I'm back and happy to say this place is still bomb! And I have perfected what and how to order to achieve the optimum flavor and meal. You know how in Starbucks everybody has their own twist of what they order well, I always feel left out because I have no idea about the particulars of one palm, whole milk, and all that other modifications. well, this is my Starbucks and I have to go to guy that knows, exactly the modifications, and want to order for an amazing meal: Chicken teriyaki well done, extra teriyaki sauce, white rice, veggies, AND noodles (its only an additional75 cents) If you don't order like that, you're doing it wrong. You can thank me later.

I recommend getting their six piece salmon special (it used to be $10-12 but the price has since risen). My personal favorite item is the salmon onion nigiri, the onion pairs nicely with the salmon and I wish this was a more common offering amongst sushi spots. The fried salmon belly is also great, and I've been lucky enough to order it when it's discounted a few times, though I think that's mostly on week days. The Uni Shooter was easily the highlight for me. Since it is consumed in one bite, the flavors arrive almost like a sudden burst. The vinegar-based tosazu sauce hits first with a sharp, energetic acidity. Then the quail egg yolk comes in and softens the vinegar while blending with the creamy uni, making the entire flavor become rounder and more harmonious. The contrast between the initial acidic impact and the gentle richness that follows was extremely well designed. It was memorable and very enjoyable. The Uni Oyster was much less successful. Both the oyster and the fish roe already have strong, assertive flavors. Together, they create an effective duet: the oyster provides the deep briny foundation, while each roe bead bursts and repeatedly adds small waves of salinity and texture. Unfortunately, the uni was too delicate to compete with either of them. Its flavor was almost completely lost. Instead of improving the oyster, the uni felt as though it had been added simply because this is a uni-focused restaurant. In my opinion, the dish would actually have been more coherent without it. The Uni Pasta was good. It was creamy, rich, and full-flavored, with enough uni character to make the dish satisfying. The portion was also very well judged. Rich uni pasta can easily become tiring, but this serving ended at exactly the right moment--just as I was beginning to feel that another few bites might become too heavy. Overall, the Uni Shooter was excellent and worth ordering. The pasta was enjoyable and well portioned. The oyster dish, however, needed better balance because the uni was overwhelmed by the much stronger oyster and roe. A worthwhile destination for uni lovers, but the best dishes are the ones in which the uni is allowed to remain the focus.

I am disappointed in myself for waiting this long to try Ueno Sushi. I've been driving by this location on Carson st for 10 years. It used to be something else (Thai maybe?) before it was a sushi restaurant. I think it was something else before that. I never went here because I thought the food would be mediocre given the history of changes but I was so wrong. SO WRONG! I came here on a Friday night for a party of 1 and while the restaurant was full and many customers were coming in for their reservations, I did not have to wait. The Sashimi Combo 10pc was surprisingly generous. Every single piece of sashimi was huge. I honestly thought they forgot to cut each piece in half lol. It also comes with a bowl of rice, salad, and miso soup. I finished the night with blue fin toro sushi. For those who might find themselves confused like me, this is labeled Sushi on the menu, but it is better labeled as nigiri -- the sashimi on a small ball of rice. It comes with two pieces and the tuna was HUGE. I almost couldn't see the rice! I was blown away by what I was getting but it makes sense given the price I was paying. I was so happy. Overall, great food, wonderful portion sizes. Downside is the pricing but it matches what you're getting. The biggest downside is the parking. It is eastablished and celebrated by eaters far more articulate and with wider reach than I. But I recently went, and enjoyed myself quite a bit. Not only because the food was incredible but because the staff made me feel like a special patron. My main server was Julian. He was young, attentive and continued the chain of grand service. But there are two other female servers that make the experience pop with above the line service, I wish I knew their name. The first passed me and my companion Conrad and asked how is your mother? All I could say was she was still alive. I took my mom to mother's day there two years ago and she remembered. That kind of service cannot be reproduce because it was held in heart and intention. I was a welcomed guest. I may not go often but when I do I am remembered. That kind attentiivesness is more than appreciated, it is remembered too! The second server when I leave the place meets my eyes, has a grand wide smile, and said something in Japanese that makes me feel seen in Kyoto. I am engaged in a jovial way by the staff here that is why it is a sincere pleasure to buy the kitchen staff a picther so we can Kanpai!. There sweet way with me is something I cannot undervalue because in doing so I would ignore the kind of hospitatlty that moves mountains closer to the sun. And the food is amazing, like so good, it cannot be ignored espeically when the menu went through changes. The reason why that face immediately hit me in the face was because I used to go for these corn tempura things that were like this amazing crunch in corn. But still what we had was wonderul. Like I would hurt back or strain my inner thigh trying to complain about the food in this place. This time around Conrad and I had their Shabu Shabu. I have had Shabu Shabu before (not here) a few times, not many but this was the first time that Conrad had it. And that face in itself is special, I think. So moving on from that, eating Shabu Shabu was engaging cause you basically create a broth that you are using to cook veggies and meat so images of witches and camping come to the mind, easily. I also took a video of Conrad grinding some sesame seeds, like he was an apothecary or doctor of old times. And I do not care who you are, you are going to enjoy working a bit, especially in a fun way, for your meal. Like who would not like to peel a few cloves of garlic for their herbed chicken? The broth came with pork shoulder and pork belly. We also had some meat and onions on stick--- I think we had pork belly and chicken. We also had a rice ball. We also had thier Gobo Chips. This is something that survived the menu transition that hit every crispy bite. It hit every crispy bite. By this point I know that the food will be fantastic, and the type of food that warms the heart and soul- comfort food. However, this, comfort food is not mine to claim by familiarity because I have not known it since childhood. But I have known it enough to know it as comfortable. I guess, I can claim it as familiar because it became such in the span of years, not decades. Like when can someone claim a carne asado taco to be familiar comfort food when they did not grow up eating it? That is the question that I am left to ponder. This place is a spot I know to be good and trust to deliver on service and quality.
