I usually don't like chicken teriyaki, but today my gf ordered it for herself, I tried and and ended up eating it all. The food here is totally worth it, at least for the bento box that we ordered. They really packed it, so I was very very stuffed after eating it. Another great thing, quick quick quick, I literally placed the order, the platter got passed down and then bam it was ready. I read a few comments about the food being cold, but I did not experience that, the food was nice and hot for us. The staff were nice, no complaints about service. Would order from here again. read more

Sarku Japan - chicken teriyaki box - Japanese Near Me - Staten Island, New York

Ordered at the Staten Island mall location. All I can say is gross. Just because this is a fast food stand doesn't mean the food should be cold. Cold dumplings and cold egg roll. Unfortunately I didn't have the time to run back to have them heat it up. That's the point of fast food read more

Good service, friendly people, delicious food and quick service. They get 5 stars from me

I've been to a few Sarku's in my lifetime, but there's something special about this one. Typically at Sarku, it's pretty similar to a fast food restaurant. You order at the counter, someone will come out the back with a bento box sized plate of chicken teriyaki and rice (or something else, but this is probably the most popular order). However at THIS Sarku, even in a mall food court, it feels more authentic. The chefs cook the chicken right in front of you, and give you portions that are big enough that make you feel like you're getting your money's worth. This may be one of the most popular fast food restaurants in Staten Island; whenever I go, the line extends well past the end of the storefront. Somehow, through it all, the line flies and you still end up getting your food in a matter of minutes; even when you were 15th in the line. On top of all of it, it's actually very good. read more

The lady at the register is the nastiest person ever. Do not go to this please. The food also is not good. It is not worth it. They scream at you. read more

Never coming here again. They skimp out on the chicken. Give you a few shreds of vegetables and everyone else is WHITE RICE. barely any sauce. The rice is hard and under cooked. Very disappointed in this place. The utensils packet is opened and they took out the knife and spoon so you're only left with a fork. This is so unsanitary!! Chicken is burnt and they give you the bits and bobs. Barely any real chicken. DO NOT RECOMMEND. Wasted $9 for a tray of undercooked white rice read more

Horrible service today I went and ordered something on my lunch break and the lady must of misunderstood me and when i went to grab my food it wasn't what i wanted and the guy starts literally yelling at me " go pay an extra $2 " when it wasnt even a mistake on my end. I felt like a child. read more

The main complaint is the service. They might as well just throw the food at you. The workers are unfriendly and harried. They hand you a folded brown paper bag in which you are supposed to pack the food yourself. This is in a mall where people are already holding bags from shopping. Worse though is that the food containers and pick up area are covered in spots of cooking oil. It's a mess and Just asking for a napkin turns into an argument. I went there twice and both times there were people in line having negative experiences. Contrast this with "Bistro Thai" which is also in the same mall where the workers are pleasant and it is a positive experience. Sarku Japan however is exactly the kind of place that makes you not want to leave your house. When will businesses learn it is not just about the food and price but about the customer's experience? read more

Have been going here since I was a teenager. They are still great eats, however not as great as they used to be. Now they are the most popular eatery in the food court (and the only edible food) and that is to their detriment. The lines get long but go very fast and that's the problem. They take your order very quickly and don't even give you your utensils now. And the food is now produce en mass, reducing the quality of the preparation. They must put heroin in the teriaki sauce though, since I will swear on everything I love that it's the best I've ever had. I will keep on coming back as long as they keep up the good work. A great hidden gem of a meal in a Staten Island Mall food court, who would've thought? read more

Don't be a dullard and expect top notch service and quality from a stand in the food court of the Staten Island Mall. What you should expect is the greatest and only Chicken Teriyaki you can get, because if you're getting Chicken Teriyaki from a restaurant then you're a god damn pleeb. Now sit back, grab a cheap plastic fork, and remember to ask for extra sauce. P.S. This is and will always be my "if stranded on a desert island what would you want to eat?" meal. read more

Literally the worst place ever. They are rude. Not helpful at all. Their menu says one thing "vegetable rolls" I ask if they have it and they say no. I really think if the SI mall is trying to better itself close it down and bring back the other sushi restaurant. I'm sorry this place needs to be gone read more

I am so disgusted with this place. The older Asian woman that works behind the register threw me a fork after I politely asked her for one. I already paid and don't know what is going on in this place. This is the second time she's been rude to me. The fork didn't land on me so I did not report it to security. I am an educated 44 year old latin women and will never dine here again. At no point was I ever rude to deserve that type of treatment. She needs to be fired! read more

Fresh cooked right in front of you. Chicken and shrimp teriyaki with rice and veggies. Cheap too. I go every time in mall.

This place was located inside the mall which was a food court... I didn't like how the food was sooo salty which I didn't like....and my lunch cost like seven to eight bucks... The veggies and stuff wasn't all that good... And what make it so salty I think it was the sauce...the people that work there was like not there asked for spoon tool them like 15 min to understand whAt I was saying ughhh piss me of read more

Food poisoning. I will never order again. Stay away if you can. Not worth it. Don't waste your money.

Pretty pricey, but they give you so much food that it doesn't matter. Bento boxes are massives. I've never been disappointed with this place. Their shrimp is small but they make up for it by giving you loads, and their teriyaki sauce is killer. read more

The food here doesn't taste very good, and the lady at the front desk is rude and arrogant. They throw your food right on their counter and you have to pack it yourself. People should not choose this restaurant, so as not to pay for the pain read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. Discourteous, unprofessional, and they yell at their costumers and staff. I watched as the woman screamed at the chefs and a poor patron of the restaurant, who had ordered 2 dishes and only received 1. This is one of your typical hibachi type restaurants you'll find in any food court of any mall in the US. The prices are dirt cheap, it fills your belly, and the food is delicious! I can't count for healthy, but I can say I do crave the taste of their chicken every now and then. Living fairly close the Mall, this place is really convenient for me. That coupled with the really cheap prices, good taste, and the human sized portions has me sold on 4 stars. Little tip - most people ask for extra sauce on their chicken and rice...kinda boosts the flavor a notch. read more

Delicious takoyaki chicken which is highly recommended but the chef that makes it is rude

This place makes great food and it is real fresh homemade food not like other places here in the mall You get a mice size portion of chicken Teriyaki with some rice and vegetables for a great price You can go to other places in the food court and pay a lot more money and get less food and it is not fresh homemade food Whenever I go to the Staten island mall I make sure to stop here and eat read more

Awesome chicken teriyaki but rudeeeeee people. I agree with the review below about how the cashier lady screws up people's orders and pretends that you said the wrong thing. I saw it happen to the girl in front of me and also when I got my order. I asked for double meat and I didn't check my receipt so I stood there waiting and she yelled at me saying that if I wanted double meat I have to pay more. Come on..$2 for double meat. Don't talk down like that to me. They did the same to the person in front of me as well. The girl complained that they gave way too little chicken and the cooks said "you want more chicken, pay money". This is why they work the jobs they work. read more

Food is great. Lady behind the counter is a sadistic bitch. At least I got extra sauce though.

One day I wanted to order dinner here and ask for a chicken box, but when I checked the box I got a half full box compared to the white person in front of me just because I was Asian. I told them about it, but they just told me to deal with it because they have to "please the white people". Terrible service. read more

What a waste of time and money. Tasteless chicken teriyaki over very little, greasy, vegetables and way too much white rice. Never again.

There white rice is really bland and over cooked get the double order of vegetables instead of rice and you won't be disappointed

It's honestly okay. Don't really expect much and you won't be disappointed. I've had better quality chicken teriyaki in Ajisen, but this is a good spot to come to when you're already in the mall. read more

Rude service. Staff talk behind your back in Chinese and are impolite. They act like they are superior to you for some reason...

As an American, I find it appalling that someone can work behind the counter and not know how to speak or understand English. Although I shouldn't expect much from a chain inside a mall, I do think that being able to understand the words "two orders of chicken teriyaki" said three times , is important. This was the second time in a month that I had waited on a long line with my son, in my arms and didn't pay attention to the receipt. Except today really rubbed me the wrong way and I will not be eating at any of these chains again. I waited with my son in my arms and he was extremely cranky, so yes I was distracted and placed my credit card and recipt in my wallet straight away. I waited after receiving my first and said I was waiting for a second to which the man cooking said " then where recipt" so I pulled it out and handed it to him,not thinking she had once again not understood "two orders". He then proceeded to throw the recipt back at me and said " this say one go to back of line order again" at this point i was beyond embraced. I said to him" once again I told her two orders can I give you the cash and you can ring me up since the line is long and I just ordered?" The man responds with " an you go back to back of line with money give to us again" I was disgusted. They are there because of our money. Disgusting that not only can they not speak well enoug English to get an order right, but then to speak that way to a customer, who honestly was not trying to get over(obviously I handed them the recipt) is rediculous. I'll stick to my healthier options outside the mall, and make sure they are English speaking. read more

Zero stars if I could but the lowest is 1 star. Discourteous, unprofessional, and they yell at their costumers and staff. Went there first time and thought wow how rude and nasty the 2 women are when you ask a question. Thought maybe they were having a bad day. Nope went again last Friday night, the 2 women were screaming at people, I asked for a cup of water and the nasty rude woman mumbled a word under her breath and then gave a 1/2 filled cup, I asked for a little more water and she mumbled the same words in her language. The poor guy behind me didn't hear her scream out no more fried rice, he a came along a minute later, so he asked for fried rice, which by the way, there WAS FRIED RICE sitting in the pan, she yelled at him NO FRIED RICE. I then watched as the woman screamed at the chefs and another poor guy in front of me, who had ordered 3 dishes and simply asked for a fork to which she screamed again at him something in another language and pointed. If I had not paid for my food already I would have walked away to get something somewhere else. Never again, gave it 2 tries thinking the first was a fluke but obviously Sarku Japan thinks that they are ALLOWED to be NASTY and RUDE. Guess what we don't have to eat there! That long line will slowly empty out the longer this goes on in the staten island mall location. The 2 women behind that counter need a reality check and a HUGE ATTITUDE adjustment. read more
