The sushi here and the experience that went with it was a truly special experience. It was entertaining and enjoyable. The wine my wife had she loved. I had a Junmai gingo that was solid. The tea poured all evening. The sushi chefs had a blast and made us laugh and comped us a drink. The decor was pretty basic for a sushi restaurant but it's nice to have a intimate experience and that's what this was. But it was the fish and the beef and the rice that soared . The bites and soup were were fragrant and complex with layered flavor. This is an expensive evening but worth the price of admission.

Came to Omakase Ichi to celebrate my 6 year wedding anniversary with my wife. Unfortunately we got stuck in traffic and ended up about 20 minutes late. The chefs delayed the start of the meal a bit for us to make it on time which was appreciated though not necessary for us! We were able to catch up quickly to the first 5 courses. Pro tip: If you're coming from Jersey for a Sunday Night Reservation, give yourself over an hour to get here. We got heavily delayed on 440 traffic trying to cross the bridge which I hear is pretty common Sunday nights. As for Omakase Ichi, the restaurant is clean, classy, and modern. The chef's are stylish, and while the decor isn't overly minimalist, it's still very trendy and hip. The restaurant has a small parking lot next to it and its very convenient and the servers are very attentive and often ensure your drinks are always filled. The omakase courses were innovative and elevated and we really felt like we were enjoying fine dining. The appetizer dishes were delicious and nigiri were definitely of higher quality. Our favorites were the "black throat" nigiri and of course, the wagyu. They did not have uni in stock tonight, but we enjoyed a very good experience. After the main courses, they served what seemed like a milk tea inspired panna cotta which was light and not overly rich. At $118 pp, the course itself is definitely worth it. And yes, it was 100% worth sitting in traffic for an hour for .

Omakase Ichi was hands down the best omakase I've had. The restaurant itself is small but its super classy inside. I loved the tiny bar in the corner. I also love that they served each course to everyone at the same time. All of the courses were super delicious and overall the flavors were unique. They definitely saved the best for last with the A5 Wagyu. It was cooked perfectly and the gold on top made it look super elegant. I didnt order any extra pieces at the end. For dessert we were served a milk tea panna cotta and it was amazing. I wish i could order it twice. At $118 a person, its definitely worth the price and I'd definitely come back to celebration a special occasion.

The first omakase restaurant in Staten Island, which is such a wonderful delight! All the staff were very friendly, kind, and fun to talk to; they speak both English and Cantonese, perhaps even other dialedte as well. The dining counter only seats 8, and they have three separate seating time, which are 4pm, 6pm, and 8pm. The chefs put a lot of effort into constructing each course, and the ingredients are definitely very fresh, which is relatively comparable to the amazing quality of fish in Japan. For 16 courses, the $118 price tag is definitely reasonable. They come with quite a bit of starter dishes, and my favorite is definitely the yuzu abalone jelly, the crispy toro tartare, and surprisingly, the wakame soup, which is reminiscent of the broth used to make oden! They were all displayed in beautiful ceramics and it was very aesthetically pleasing! For the main, my favorites were the shima aji, which comes with pickled wasabi and sweet soy sauce; the hotate that comes with yuzu jelly and wasabi sea salt, the kanpanchi with its flavorful condiment, and of course the Miyazaki A5 wagyu beef with uni on top! For the dessert, they served a coconut pudding with a tad of red bean on top, which was good but a bit underwhelming; if the dessert had more of a Japanese flavor profile, such as matcha, yuzu, or hojicha, it'd definitely conclude the meal with a more elegant vibe. Since they're brand new, there's definitely room for improvement. For example, a few courses came out a bit under seasoned, such as the madai, botan ebi, king salmon, bluefin tuna and bluefin otoro, all of which could've been enhanced with simply a drop or two of their sweet soy sauce to enhance its amazing freshness even more. It's a simple fix and I'm sure they'll only continue to improve! Definitely a very pleasant experience! Thank you Wilson and everyone else for taking such good care of us; would've loved to converse with you more but you were unfortunately preoccupied by another diner, so perhaps next time. Thank you for reading and best of luck! (:

The best hidden gem in Staten Island !! Insane quality omakase , absolutely delicious! The waitress Annie was the best and the chefs did an amazing job . Can't recommend enough !

TLDR: About $130 per person, for sushi lovers only, if you're normally a big eater you'll leave hungry, and judging this place based on the Staten Island quality rating it would be a place I'd recommend. If you're going and love to drink, pro tip at the end. Not your average sushi place to order salmon avocado, shrimp tempura or California rolls and call it a day. The price is hefty compared to going to your average sushi restaurant but you're paying for the experience, fish quality, the ambiance, plating and getting items that you normally wouldn't find elsewhere. Case in point for quality - I've ever only tried Uni once and that was enough for me to gag as it tasted like I just ate something straight from the ocean floor. From this place, my mind totally changed and I would only order Uni from a place I know that serves quality source fish. A lot of taste and textures that you'll never experience going to your typical Japanese restaurant. Some items that we had are listed in the paper a la carte menu. We ended up ordering one more item, the hand roll Toro at the end - the paper menu that you see are some items that were served and if you wanted to order some more of them. Parking a going to be a wash in that area and we went during the week so it wasn't crowded at all. Weekends may be a different matter. The price will definitely be turning away a lot of customers but if you and your loved one(s) really enjoy sushi and want something different without having to trek to off the island, this is a great option. While we were there, we had one other party of 2 next to us and they were regulars to the place. They kept mentioning Annie and how she's a hoot of a host and seems like will out drink you lol

The one & only authentic omakase spot on Staten Island. The 16 courses (+ dessert) are exceptional. I can't express how fresh the fish is. I was told some of the fish is imported from Japan and I wouldn't doubt it. The courses are seasonal and change roughly every 3 months, or change whenever the chef is presented with a particular fish from their supplier. I appreciate the owners for bringing this type of cuisine to SI, and I encourage everyone to try it out. It's around $115 per person, but very worth the experience. It's very intimate, quiet, and perfect for a date night. Reservations are necessary and are available on Resy.

Came here for my birthday celebration and they were so kind to accommodate us as a party of 12! (They usually only seat 10 max at the bar). Staff was friendly and patient (we were a loud group lol) The place is pretty small but intimate and cozy, so perfect for date night or a private party. The 16 course for $118 had a great mix of starters and nigiri -- love that it wasn't just sushi so it was quite filling. I recommend trying their Sake cocktails, the Cherry Blossom was very light but tasty. The starters were light and I liked that the flavor of each piece starts to build up as you go down the set course. Towards the end of the course they give you a menu if you want to order additional pieces, they recommend the toro handroll as it was the only one we haven't had yet -- highly recommend you get it! Overall it was a great experience! The pieces were all beautifully crafted and had some interesting new elements I've never had before.

I had the best sushi experience at Omakase Ichi on Staten Island. The food was fresh and personalized. The staff were kind and attentive. The location is brand new with upscale restaurant features. The sushi master Jimmy was very pleasant as well. Definitely tastes like Manhattan quality in your local Staten Island neighborhood. Would definitely recommend!

Not your average sushi restaurant! Omakase Ichi was a nice surprise, serving a well curated 16 course meal prepared by head chef Jimmy in an elegant and welcoming environment paired with great and 5 star service without the 5 star price tag make it a great addition to the area. The feast started with a slow cooked Abalone with Yuzu Jelly, Monkfish Liver (Ankimo), Crispy Toro Tartare, Snow Crab on Toast and a Wakame Soup with shimeji mushrooms. For the mains we were served a series of nigiris, Madai (Seabream), Kanpachi (Amber Jack), Hotate (Hokkaido Scallop), Shima Aji (Stripped Jack), Botan Ebi (Prawn), King Salmon, Bluefin Tuna, Bluefin Otoro, Hokkaido Uni, Miyazaki A5 Wagyu topped with Uni and a Toro hand roll to complete the entrees. Dessert was a delicate coconut pudding with red bean paste. Overall an amazing experience with great food, great ambiance and amazing service at a great price. The only thing you will be asking for is your next reservation!

First time I've been out for Omakase and left satisfied. I've tried different places and leave the place still hungry . Not only was the food fresh and delicious. The decor is warm and inviting and service was superb. They were very accommodating to my allergies and made proper substitutions. Highly recommend. Plan on returning soon!

A wonderfully unique (for Staten Island anyway) and extremely high quality, sushi tasting experience that is worth the fun and complex flavor profiles combined experience, even at $100 per person. Remarkable attention to detail, while not an overwhelming quanity of food, there is nothing like it on Staten Island. Each piece is presented with infinite care, like a small (and very tasty) work of fine art! We are so extremely excited that they have opened recently in Great Kills on the South Shore, which can be lacking in quality food diversity. The service was also excellent, and makes each guest sitting at the sushi bar, feel special like a honored patron. Had a wonderful time at this classy Omakase, and can't wait to return.

Where do I even start? Five stars is not enough. Omakase Ichi delivers high quality sushi each thoughtfully prepared and plated, the service is friendly, fun, and the ambiance impeccable. Jimmy (aka crazy jimmy) is a master at omakase and delivers delicious dishes that are presented beautifully and pair well with his vibrant, friendly, and fun personality. Amy the host makes you feel like friends who haven't seen each other in awhile but are able to pick up right where you left off. The whole vibe of the place is amazing - good, calm, uplifting energy all round. Staten Island has never experienced something as brilliant as what Omakase IChi is doing - I truly feel honored to have this restaurant and its owners here on the island. For $118 pp this omakase experiment surpassed many omakases that I have gone to in the city and Brooklyn which all were well over $250 pp. Some of my favorites here were Yuzu abalone jelly, Monkfish liver, Crispy Toro tartare, Snow crab toast, King salmon, Bluefin tuna, Bluefin otoro and the Miyazaki As wagyu beef. There wasn't one I didn't love. Do yourself a favor and book a reservation here. It's small seating and worth the wait. Tell them Lisa sent you (:
