Tried Ocean Sushi in Staten Island and it's definitely a great local spot. The food is really fresh and there's a wonderful variety on the menu, so there's something for everyone. They're also great about accommodating gluten-free options, which is always a huge plus. Service can be a bit on the slower side, especially when it's busy, but honestly the food makes it worth the wait. Prices are reasonable for the quality you get, too. Overall, a solid go-to sushi spot, I'd definitely come back. read more

Ocean Sushi - Spicy Shrimp Roll Tuna Volcano Special - Sushi Bars Near Me - Staten Island, New York

Ocean Sushi is easily top 3 sushi spots on Staten Island in my book The Angry Dragon Roll & Romantic Roll were both incredible, the spicy tuna on crispy rice was addicting, and the spicy kani salad hit the spot. The pineapple fried rice was packed with flavor, and the creamy nigori sake tied it all together perfectly. What really keeps us coming back though is the lovely staff -- they treat us like family every time we walk in. Great food, warm people, and always an awesome experience. read more

This place has great service and very nice people. I would not recommend if you are gluten free. They glutened me. But the fish was super fresh and the service and management were very nice so I'd recommend otherwise. read more

The best sushi in Staten Island . Always fresh fish , variety of yummy appetizers . Always a great service and timely delivery .

I had a deeply concerning experience at Ocean Sushi. On 04/23/2025, I ordered three rolls, including a spicy tuna roll. After eating the majority of the rolls, I found what appeared to be a parasitic worm, likely an Anisakis parasite (which can cause Anisakiasis). Shortly afterward, I developed severe gastrointestinal symptoms, including significant stomach distress and dizziness. I visited urgent care and the ER, spending $165 out of pocket, and was referred to a gastrointestinal specialist for further testing. When I called the restaurant to report the issue, I was told a driver would come verify the food. Instead, the manager, the chef, and another staff member came to my house. One of them even brought a tray of raw tuna--despite my clear request not to bring any raw food onto my doorstep--and proceeded to dig their bare hands into the tuna without gloves. They remained outside my home for nearly 40 minutes, explicitly trying to dissuade me from escalating the matter with the Health Department. The entire incident is recorded on my Ring camera. When I later spoke with the owner, Andy, he blamed the incident on "language and cultural barriers" and suggested that I could have gotten sick from "anything." He refused to take responsibility or reimburse my medical expenses. I have filed a formal complaint with the NYC Health Department and have preserved all evidence, including photos, video footage, and medical records. I strongly urge extreme caution if you are considering dining at Ocean Sushi. I've also included a photo showing the difference between what may have been a strip of tuna fat (top) and what strongly resembles a parasitic worm (bottom). The difference in texture and shape is clear. I am not a food safety expert, but I trust my instincts -- and I believe others should be informed. read more

Great quality sushi for the price, very inventive special rolls and even the pad thai was worthy of one you'd find at a good Thai restaurant. Appetizers were big, fish is always bright and fresh. read more

Can't go wrong with ocean sushi. Pad Thai and sushi everything was super delicious. I've ordered and had dinner there. Very good.

Ordered takeout for the first time- (next time would love to eat here in person) Our food was fast, so we were able to enjoy our food still hot. Flavorful and the Spicy Dragon roll was soo good, I regretted my decision to share the roll with my husband. I ordered Yaki udon- which was delicious however I wish the shrimp tails were peeled off. No biggie tho. We will 100% order here again read more

Excellent fresh fish can be difficult to find on Staten Island, but this place has buttery fresh sushi. The seafood miso soup was delicious, the toro roll was different but excellent. The white tuna sashimi, the Naruto and under the sea roll were very shareable for two and were enjoyed by both of us. Service was good and they let us linger which I liked. read more

Sesame seeds on the sushi?! Not for me. The sushi wasn't bad but the sesame was overpowering. Not sure if it was only the ones I ordered. The service is quick and the food overall isn't bad. Nice people and I am sure the other items are better. read more

Ocean Sushi - My fave... peanut avocado roll! - Sushi Bars Near Me - Staten Island, New York

I guess Ocean Sushi still hasn't opened for indoor dining! So I decided to order for takeout and was both perplexed and amazed by their innovative ordering setup. Ocean Sushi blocked off the entrance for their vicinity and instead, placed a small microphone on a table, and created a tiny doorway to transfer food and money. Most of the customers seemed to place pickup orders and retrieved them by providing the last four digits of their phone number through the microphone. I honestly can't say the servers here were that nice. For example, as I got ready to place my takeout order, the server said, "Girl, what do you want?" rather than something more polite like, "Hello, how can I help you" or something similar... After all, they didn't have any customers outside, nor did they seem to have any phone calls that would warrant the rushed and cold "greeting" I received. Nevertheless, I ordered an "Under Sea Roll," as well as Red Snapper and Striped Bass Sashimi. Well, despite their lack of politeness, I have to hand it to them; they made my food in roughly 5 minutes and provided some of the best quality and tasting sushi I've had on Staten Island! The sashimi slices were large and fresh. The "Under The Sea" roll is an excellent option that combined the flavors of both California and Salmon Avocado rolls. The roll was plentiful, filling, and all-around tasty! While I felt the server was a little rude, I enjoyed my sushi roll and sashimi. I heard many people speak highly about their indoor-dining experiences at Ocean. Although I will probably order for pickup at Ocean again, perhaps when the pandemic subsides, and Ocean reopens for dining, I'll stop by and give their indoor dining a try! read more

Haven't been here in a while, but the last time I was, the food was absolutely off the charts good

The food is always fresh, the staff is so nice, restaurant is clean and they also have great lunch specials

Always fresh. Always good service. Always inviting atmosphere. Always the very finest quality.

Sushi was great, as was the service. Looking forward to coming back. Loved the decor and ambience.

This is my goto sushi delivery spot. Theyre always quick and never had issues w my order. Placing order online or on the phone is so easy! Sushi is good, always fresh and generous cutting with sashimi. I love scallop sushi so that was so important for me that it tastes fresh! They have special rolls as well. I'm usually picky with sushi, but this place did not disappoint! I definitely want to try to dine in person eventually. They do not have omakase style sushi if thats what you're lookin for. Still on the search for that on the island. read more

The ambiance isn't the best, but the sushi is divine. Best on Staten Island. I recommend taking out instead of sitting there though.

Fresh always and fast fast delivery. Worth the price for sure. We eat in and order often. Never disappointed.

I don't see how this place has earned a 5 star average rating. Sashimi is very fresh, and the ambience is not bad. However, the special rolls fall apart when you pick them up. They need to work on that. Overall, it's not bad for staten island, but I was disappointed in their special rolls. read more

Parking lot is very convenient and very nice decor. Kind of tucked away in a corner of a little strip of restaurants. Walked in for lunch and was greeted by a very nice woman who showed me to my seat. Bathroom is clean, but unfortunately there wasn't any soap. Food was great! I will def come back when I'm on this side of SI. Make sure you order the spicy dragon roll! You will not be disappointed. read more

Ordered delivery from here last week and we liked it a lot. It took close to an hour for them to arrive, but we ordered on a Sunday during dinner hours and we live about 4-5 miles away so it makes sense. We weren't mad about it. The sashimi regular dish was super fresh and had nice thick cuts. The special rolls were also very fresh and satisfying. We got the NY roll, Ocean roll, and Under Sea roll. All good. One thing I will say is that we got a spicy scallop roll and it was a 1/10 in terms of spiciness, and my family who can't tolerate spicy heat agreed. Maybe that was just a one-off thing though! Also, I've never seen a sushi spot include little containers of eel sauce mixed with a not-very-strong wasabi before, but it was delicious and now I'm going to crave it every time I eat sushi elsewhere. Definitely would order again. read more

Review based on delivery* Sushi is fresh, good rice and sushi proportion. However the rock shrimp was very oily. *Please dry the oil before placing in plastic container* read more

I ordered Sushi on a Thursday for dinner... the sushi was a bit warm. I did not give it much thought...well after eating the Tuna Roll shrimp roll& California roll... with in 2 hours I was deathly sick. I vomited up the entire meal... I have been sick for 4 days now... it's sad that they would send out bad Sushi.. knowing how sick you can get... I highly recommend you stay away from this place... I am still sick 4 days later... I hope this helps someone else from getting as sick as I got.......The stomach pains are so bad. I can eat anything... I think you get the picture read more

Ocean Sushi - Ate at all the sushi places on Staten Island and i have to say this place by far is the best. Not over priced, and excellent food. - Sushi Bars Near Me - Staten Island, New York

(As of now) my favorite sushi place on the Island. I came here for lunch with my dad (I convinced him to try something other than his staple, Kiku on Richmond). We were there pretty late for lunch-- 2:30-- at least for me, but we were not dining alone. The place itself is small but really clean and pleasant. I loved the atmosphere, and definitely want to check out what it's like at dinner. The service is so helpful and really concerned with how they're doing. They asked us multiple times how we heard of them. I wanted to try out this place solely on Yelp reviews but a family friend also spoke its praises. We both ordered lunch specials, which are the run of the mill for sushi/Japanese places. I had three rolls: spicy tuna, yellowtail scallion, and sweet potato. They were a lot bigger than what other places on SI have given me in the past, it was awesome. My dad ordered chicken teriyaki with fried rice and said the rice was the best he's ever had. We have a convert!! The server had me fill out a survey at the end, which I gladly did. Apparently they have birthday specials? Excited to see what that's about. I'm also itching to go here for dinner and try some drinks and special rolls. They also have free delivery-- what could be better? read more

Ocean Sushi - Three roll special. Top to bottom: sweet potato, spicy tuna, yellowtail scallion - Sushi Bars Near Me - Staten Island, New York

I been here a few times and this by far one of the best sushi and japanese restaurant on Staten Island. The place is small but it allows them to be impeccable with their service. I enjoy a variety of their dishes but the one that stands out the most is the Peking Duck Roll which is a good combination of the original chinese dish wrapped up in a crepe like skin and drizzled with hoisin sauce. I order it everytime I come here and its a great appetizer to start out a lunch or dinner. I had several of their sushi ranging from sashimis to rolls and they are all prepared well and taste rather fresh. I had slowly shifted over to ordering their hibachi/bento box entrees. Recently I has their tuna steak which is well seasoned and cooked medium rare just the way I liked it. Price is decent compared to the quality and quantity given. All dishes are presented nicely with a certain ambiance in mind. Recommendation: Crispy Duck Salad Peking Duck Roll Hibachi Entrees Tuna Steak read more

I always saw signs for this new sushi place Ocean Sushi. Looked for a place in the Annadale hour to meet with an old coworker last night. I was excited when I saw they were affiliated with Hokkaido because I knew the quality of their sushi. The ambience is beautiful, clean and exotic looking. The wait staff was friendly and our server Kevin took the time out to talk to us, asked us if we liked everything and persuaded us on another round. (On top of the BoGo raspberry cosmopolitans I already had!) Food was excellent I tried the miso eggplant and also got my favorite roll from my Hokkaido days - the Hot Lover Roll with the chef's special sauce :: layers of wasabi mayo, spicy mayo and eel sauce = divinity Everyone must try this place!! read more
