This is one of my favorites places. Food fresh and good. Every time I visit, this is my first stop I always get half white rice and noodles with vegetables chicken and beef. Customer service always kind. Love it

Worst Sushi experience of my life. Shame on me for going with a cheap sushi option, but damn even Grocery store sushi is better than this place. The sushi rice on the roll was spongy. It was grossing me out and I could not finish my meal. I think Sarku is good for fast food Bento Box options, but don't go here for the sushi. Again, it's on me going with cheaper sushi, but I hope they read this review and up the quality of their rolls. Sushi rice is not supposed to taste spongy!

Cheap reliable food. Really what's more to say. You will always come here for the most bang for your buck.

This is probably the best mall food court restaurant you will find in Oakridge Mall. The chicken and shrimp are always cooked perfectly. There are hits and misses with the veggies. Most of the time they are warm and basically raw. Today they were just cold and undercooked. I want to emphasize I have been here many times and this is the first time the vegetables have been so undercooked that they taste like you need a veggie dip to put on them. You really need to pay attention when your food is on the staging area. Sometimes they place scoops of food and you have no idea if you should take your plate. It's just a little inconsistent sometimes. It would help if they communicated a little more during the order or when they are done. Overall for mall food it's not bad. It's probably the healthiest option out there aside from just getting salad.

Beef Bento Box. Added chicken. Love the value.

IMO, Sarku Japan is one of the best mall food court options for price, value, taste, and quality of food. For $13, I got a big o beef bento box, added chicken, some gyozas, and California rolls. It was enough to feed my daughter and me easily. I love watching them cook everything fresh on the griddle. They are super fast, and the food is fresh and super tasty. The crust that forms on the chicken is supper flavorful and delicious.

Pre-covid review: My cousin and I came here on a weekend and it was busy-busy! I'm unsure why this location doesn't have much of a high rating because my personal experience went really well! My stomach usually isn't happy if I had bad sushi but after eating here, I didn't have stomach pain at all and the fish tasted really fresh. Tekka maki: 5/5, Simple but still my favorite (I forgot which rolls my cousin ordered though + the bento box) Service 5/5, Food took awhile before coming to our table but I understand since it was busy.

I love sarku japan food. Located in oakridge mall on san jose. I love there chicken its cooked very fresh and very good. I also have tried the sushi rolls and my very favorite is the caliper roll . Usally there is a long line but today i got lucky and got my food within 3 minutes. Stop by and try SARKU JAPAN

*Dined in the mall* I forgot how good this place is! This rating is based on the value of the amount of food and taste for that value. This is not a 5 star dining experience but my gosh! They load you up so much I had food for 3 lunches. I love the chicken teriyaki. The sauce is a standard teriyaki so a tad sweet but not overly. The chicken is cooked perfect and I love how some of the pieces are a bit crispy. The gyoza is good, stir fried. For mall food, this is bussin'!

Look at the pictures I posted and tell me that that is not the most beautiful looking dish you have ever seen. Teriyaki chicken and chow mein noodles covered in teriyaki sauce, enough to give you a heart attack and make your taste buds explode at the same time. But worth it! Sarku Japan at Oakridge and a Valleyfair is a tradition to get after a long, exhausting day of shopping at the mall. For about $10 and at most 15 minutes of waiting in line you can get the most mouthwatering, biggest sized portion, and tastiest item in the whole food court. I percent recommend subbing whatever vegetables or rice you're planning to get to be "healthy" with the noodles. Because these noodles are thick and covered in teriyaki sauce, make sure you ask for extra.

We love Sarku! Whenever we come to the mall, this is typically the only place in the food court we get food from. This place does tend to get busy, but the food always comes out fast. With COVID, they are doing a good job with safety measures. The staff are wearing gloves and masks and there is hand sanitizer by the register. My fiancé and I both got the teriyaki chicken and they were very tasty! There's is always a good amount of both rice, veggies, and meat. It's extra tasty with some sriracha! We got our order to go since we didn't want to eat at the mall. They gave us utensils, napkins, and sriracha packets in our bag. I know we will be back soon!

This is my go to food at the mall I love the teriyaki chicken with noodles and don't forget to ask for the sauce!! The team could use some better communication with respect to orders to ensure they are preparing the food the way requested, for example I ordered teriyaki chicken so upon my food being completed I shouldn't have to ask for the teriyaki sauce, you would think! Either way ASK for the sauce to ensure some flavor on your mall meal.

Once we were seated, our server was attentive and quickly came over to take our order. My plus-one and I ordered the Orange Blossom Roll, Mango Crunch Roll, Golden California Roll, and Delight Shrimp Roll. All of the rolls came out super quickly and were delicious, but there was one thing that disappointed me: the Mango Crunch Roll. There wasn't much mango in the roll itself. Usually, whenever I order this particular roll, there is mango inside, but this one didn't have any. I guess this is their own interpretation of what a Mango Crunch Roll should be. While my plus-one was enjoying his rolls, he ran out of water, but unfortunately, our server never came back to check on us or ask if we needed a refill. It would have been nice if they had checked in with us at least once during the meal. The ambiance of the restaurant is decently put together, with fake cherry blossoms and photos of different sushi and nigiri. Overall, I thought the atmosphere was okay and gave the restaurant a nice touch. One downside my plus-one mentioned was that he wished the menu had photos to help differentiate between the different rolls, especially since he is more of a visual person. Yes, you can look at photos of the menu items through their To-Go mobile app, but it feels different when you're trying to enjoy the experience of dining in without having to pull out your phone and look everything up. Would I come back here again? Probably, but mainly for the lunch deals. That's when I felt the experience was actually worth it for me.

A waitress there had told me there would be a $7 charge to do that and I paid anyway, but a waiter from our most recent visit assured us there's no charge to mix broths and that there may have been a miscommunication. Glad I asked! We always order 2 sumos: Black Angus Prime Ribeye and the Premium American Kobe Beef but we decided we love the Kobe beef more and would stick to that moving forward as it is more marbled and tastes fattier. Don't forget to ask them for the spicy drops if you also love spicy! This continues to be our favorite place for shabu.

I'm not the biggest shabu shabu fan and One Pot isn't going to change that…read more My group ordered the angus ribeye and lamb entrees, the mushroom platter, and two of the rice beer pilsners. Food quality is good, all the veggies and meat were fresh. They sadly didn't have enoki mushrooms, but they had shiitake and some others so that was fine. The beers were very refreshing and light, sort of like if cheap American beer was made to actually taste good. Like imagine Budweiser without the hint of cigarette filters and moldy socks. Especially on a hot day this was very nice. Service was fast and the servers were very nice, coming by many times to check on us and promptly refilling. Although the restaurant was pretty empty at 5 pm on a Saturday, not too surprising as it was a while before the dinner rush I guess. So... why 3 stars? It all comes down to the flavorless broth and sauce that seems to be de rigueur for shabu shabu. We tried both the "original" soy/seaweed flavor, which just tastes like water, and garlic miso, which has a very mild flavor. And then we used the two dipping sauces which I are a creamy sesame and I guess a ponzu, which I added some green onion and garlic to. The combination of the very light broths and the very light sauces is... very light. I guess someone might say you "taste the ingredients" more compared to the vastly superior hot pot where you add some flavor via the cooking medium and have a wide variety of flavorful ingredients to make a customized sauce. I can somewhat understand the perspective of wanting to mostly taste the flavors of the raw ingredients... but I don't agree with it. To me shabu shabu is basically hot pot minus flavor, and hence kind of a waste. I will say, pricing is relatively good here. Our bill was under $150 for a ton of food with everyone feeling very full. The restaurant itself is very clean and they have a large and convenient parking lot. If only it was a hot pot restaurant it definitely had all the ingredients for a 5 star review.
