Chicken teriyaki with noodles yum yum yum
    Marie G.

So I usually LOVE this place but today idk. I ordered through DoorDash and my noodles where so dry and there was barely any teriyaki sauce on my chicken. The shrimp were beautiful but a bit bland. It lacked seasoning all around. The sushi was gross. I tossed it

Shrimp Tempura Very tasty even without sauce

Very good place. They give ample food for the money. Not the healthiest food..But better then most places. It's a must try if your in the area. You will not regret it.

    Chicken teriyaki, double the meat

I paid for double the meat chicken teriyaki and they gave me very little meat. I'm disappointed

    Dumpling are delicious!

Fresh chicken teriyaki with healthy veggies and rice. The establishment is very clean and the customer service was good. The dining area should be bigger but hey it is very quaint.and nice. I normally see this restaurant in a meal but this stand alone gives a better feel of the great food that was cooked.

The teriyaki chicken combo was good, very small space for distancing though. Had to wait a while but was worth it. Parking was chaotic.

The lemon salmon with mushrooms was not only delicious but also an enormous portion. The roasted duck confit with green beans and mushroom risotto was another highlight--risotto is rarely nailed, but this one was perfectly balanced and spot on. The only downside was that the duck could've used a touch more salt and arrived less hot than expected. As usual, I ordered the smoked duck appetizer, which is always beautifully presented in a smoke-filled dome. Unlike my entree which wasn't hot enough, I wish it had been served colder this time- it was a bit too warm. The miso soup and seaweed salad are always solid, but I actually prefer the spicy versions of both. They add more flavor without being overwhelmingly spicy. Desserts are delicious, the sesame ice cream that comes with the bread pudding and cheesecake is some of my favorite- I wish I could buy a pint of it to bring home. Big fan of Wasai, both their French and Japanese, but it's just missing that 5th star for me.

Having had plenty of positive experiences with Sarku (a chain that makes similar food), I had high hopes for my visit to Sakura, but even before I left I kind of had a bad feeling. Usually at Sarku in Elizabeth, the guys behind the counter have a certain high energy and as they cook they will ask you if you want extra sauce on the food. They also do this wonderful thing where the meat is cooked to the point where the edges have caramelized sauce on them, leading to a sweet/savory crisp. Not so at Sakura. The person who took my order seemed very low energy and like he wanted to be anywhere else other than at work that day. When he cooked my meal, there was no asking about the sauce. It all felt very perfunctory and I thought to myself that maybe the food was good enough without extra sauce. I wound up getting the chicken teriyaki on a bed of vegetables. I took the order home and...(insert heavy sigh here)...it was terrible. The sauce was just salty with no sweetness (which teriyaki should have). The meat was a bit rubbery and somehow, the vegetables were *under* cooked. Overall the dish was terrible and I don't intend to go back.

It's located across of The 'World Famous' Waiting Room and La Chula Latin Fusion on E Cherry St in downtown Rahway. There's paid street parking and parking garages around the area. The shop was a very cute hole-in-the-wall restaurant. Upon entering, we were greeted by an older Asian chef making the rolls. I ordered their Rahway Roll with shrimp tempura for takeout, and it was amazing! The sauce was delicious, there wasn't an excessive amount of rice, and it had a generous amount of minced salmon and large shrimp, which I loved. The tempura was still very crunchy, even though it was takeout. It was just one roll to satisfy my craving, but it was really satisfying. Great prices, good food based on the one roll I had ordered. The next time I'm in Rahway, I will definitely keep this place in mind.

They don't clean their bathrooms well though, I went in and found a dirty toilet that hasn't been flushed. In terms of the food, it was average sushi. I wish the rolls were bigger, and their ginger didn't taste very fresh. My favorite roll was their salmon and avocado roll with good salmon to avocado and even rice ratio. On the menu our 3 rolls combo came with a miso soup, but when we ordered another round they asked if we wanted the second soup. That wouldn't be a problem but if I pay for what is offered, regardless if I finish it or not, should be served because it was what I payed for. Very cheap of the establishment. My service was fine, but I did notice that a woman particularly treated costumers in a condescending way. Most likely a boss or manager (not a waitress), but as I watched her serve others behind the register, her tone was off and not your average costumer service act. Seems to be a pattern within reviews I've read. Food is okay, could fix their cleanliness and professionalism for sure.

The food is disgusting, the staff and owner are beyond rude and it's clear that they don't care about customer satisfaction in the least- a huge red flag for a food establishment. I hate to leave a bad review and don't often do it, but this one really deserves it. I ordered a dish that I have ordered a million times, did not get what was supposed to come and was yelled at on the phone by the owner telling me that she refused to refund me the money for that dish because if I have ordered it in the past I should have known what I was going to get?? She also told me that the "noodle" dish wasn't supposed to have noodles because this is America and not China (what??) and that the free noodles that come with the soup should be eaten with it in place of them cooking me any noodles. It was floating cabbage in a thin sauce and nothing else. It's really embarrassing that they would feel the need to yell and scream at a customer over the phone because they are trying to order a noodle dish for their kids and actually get what it's supposed to be. Personally, I would have just refunded the $12 or whatever back and moved on politely to any customer if it were me, but now they have lost not just me as a customer but all the friends and family of ours that I can assure you will not be back after hearing about this. The conversation ended with her yelling at me, telling me I was wrong and then very aggressively hanging up on me. Definitely look elsewhere for great food and service..you won't find it here.
