I was really excited to try Sari Cinta with all the amazing reviews it received but I was quite underwhelmed by the food and service. To preface this review I have to say I love Indonesian food and have visited the country multiple times. The storefront feels clean and inviting and there is a large selection of dishes to choose from. They have some sets or and you can create your own plate of food. I found it expensive for the quantity and quality of food. I had eggplant which was very hard and undercooked, beef which was very hard and over cooked, eggs in sambal which lacked any sambal sauce or flavor and a potato cake which has been left sitting for a while and so was a bit soggy. The food is also left sitting all day so they microwave it when they give it to you which probably also kills the taste. Indonesian food is so flavorful and amazing when done right, Sari Cinta is a very poor representation.

Mmm,,, I don't think Indonesian food fits my palette. There was a sauce on something that I wasn't crazy about. This is a quick to-go spot where you pick your food and they warm it up for you in the microwave. There are tables as well to sit down. 'nasi goreng' off of the list of foods to try.

Choose from all of these?? Awesome

Excellent!! Only thing missing is a good beer. My cousin certainly knows where to dine for a taste of local goodness.

Fried rice with spicy egg, rendang, chicken satay and tofu. 10 euro!

Great Indonesian food in modest environment and reasonable price. The food was already prepared in advance; thus you select what you would like to eat and you pay for what you select. This is basically the Indonesian version of "Panda Express". Having said that, the quality of food is very good and is pretty close to what's served in south east Asia. I would definitely come here again on my next visit to Netherlands.

Sari Citra is a delightful lunch spot for quick authentic Indonesian food. I ordered rijsttafel for 2 plus 2 drinks and it cost more than I expected 38,50! We were served at least 9 different items, plenty of both meat and vegetables. On the downside, there was a hair in one of our food items and the plates were not spotlessly clean. The place has air conditioning which is nice in the summer.

Amazing food, great price! Would highly recommend. We had a dish that included chicken with peanut sauce, beef, rice, seasoned veggies and egg. The flavor was remarkable and you can choose how spicy you would like it. We are here twice and both times it was filled with locals dining in of taking out. As a tip, they only take local bank cards so carry cash.

Lots of spicy foods! You order at the counter and tell them how much of each dish you want. They weigh and add things up in between. Seafood and meat is obviously more expensive than vegetarian dishes but not crazy more. Then they heat it up in the microwave to the point that's it's too too hot so you burn your mouth and serve it to you at the table. I got a pretty liberal plate and it cost me under 10€ so I was pleased. However the woman was kinda annoying because she monotonously repeated "what can I get you ma'am" like nonstop without pause. I had just gotten up to see what I had wanted so I didn't know yet! Give me a second, woman!

Pro: relatively cheap, lots of snacks, many items and table/chair to eat on site. Con: Food was only so so.

The restaurant offers a varied menu inspired by classic Indonesian dishes and promotes a relaxed welcoming atmosphere with the option to request specific dishes in advance including lobster or seafood with prior notice. We were seated without a reservation which was convenient and appreciated. The service was a bit grumpy and not the warmest but still attentive and functional throughout the meal. While the hospitality did not fully match the restaurant's stated philosophy it did not ruin the experience. The food itself was good and satisfying with rich flavors that felt true to Indonesian home style cooking. The rice table in particular looked absolutely delicious and tempting though our group ended up ordering more selectively due to picky eaters at the table. It is definitely something I would want to try on a future visit. Overall SAMPURNA delivers solid Indonesian food and a genuine traditional approach. Despite imperfect service I would return especially to try the rice table next time.

We ordered the Kuning Rice Table, the smallest of the three tasting-menu-style options. Despite being the smallest it came with an unbelievable amount of food! I loved getting to try so many different indonesian dishes, everyone loved something different! The service was very fast, and the food was brought out on hot plates to keep everything warm. They are also very accommodating for vegetarian/vegans - they were able to swap out the meat dishes for the vegetarian in our group while still doing the full-table tasting menu.

We weren't sure we would make it as we were only in town for the evening and we had just come from 18 hour international travel--extremely jet lagged and feeling delirious. I had no appetite but am very glad we pushed ourselves to go because it was such a treat! Rice table is an Indonesian multi course sampler meal. I'm glad I chose to dine at Aneka Rasa. The inside of the restaurant was romantic with candlelit dining and elaborate decor. €30 per person can seem expensive but we were pleasantly surprised that it's truly €30 total. No tax or tip. Our tap water was also free. When we entered, the owner, Jerry informed us they're only doing rice table (no a la carte dining) and asked us if we want the regular or vegetarian meal. We chose regular. Jerry learned our names and addressed us by them for the rest of the evening. The regular rijsttafel came with chicken sate, soy chicken, beef rendang, curry chicken, veggies, spicy eggs, cucumber salad, fried & white rice, chips. That chicken sate was the best we've ever had! The peanut sauce on it is bomb!!! We've never seen so much peanut sauce on chicken sate-- the chicken skewers were bathing in sauce. The chicken was tender & juicy. I ate up all the leftover sauce with rice. The eggs have a spicy kick so be careful if you have low tolerance. Everything else tasted fresh. We appreciated the variety and being able to savor multiple different things. It was plenty of food for the both of us (and we eat a lot!). We talked to Jerry a bit and he was incredibly kind and welcoming. I appreciated the Christian music played in the background and messages around the restaurant. Highly recommend this restaurant for friendly service, yummy food, and good ambience!

I went with 6 other friends on this trip and talked it up for days. Some were apprehensive since it's out of their comfort zone but I'm happy to report this was almost everyone's favorite meal throughout Europe! We decided on the Rijsttafel Special which was 15 courses laid out in order from mild to spicy, perfect since there were some who don't do heat. There was a mix of different vegetable, fish and meat also perfect for the non meat eaters. The flavors of everything was so insanely good but my favorite was the Babi Kecap, pork braised in soy with cinnamon and star anise. The portions given was exactly the right amount for us all and the service was very kind. Definitely a must go for travelers!

The staff were friendly and courteous, and I would gladly come back next time I'm in Amsterdam. Walked in on a Saturday evening around 7pm as a solo diner and the restaurant was packed. I didn't make reservations so was hoping they could squeeze me in and it was a yes, just had to wait for about 8-10 minutes until the bar area seating cleared up a bit. Score! Seated the menu was presented right away, after about 10 minutes staff asked for my order, I got: - Spang Makandra Special €17.50: this is a plate of several of the house specialities. Fried rice & noodles, braised chicken, grilled chicken satay, stir-fried long beans, egg, potato sambal and perkedel (fried potatoes). So tasty all around! Loooved the braised chicken was done very well, the peanut sauce used for the chicken satay was a bit on the sweeter side. The egg was scrambled (believe this was intentional for this preparation), the flavors were delicious! I can't comment to the authenticity since I'm no expert in Surinamese food though would certainly recommend this dish to all. - Dawet €3.00: if you're familiar with SE Asian shaved ice with palm sugar syrup, the flavor of this drink is reminiscent. While the color is a bright pepto bismol pink, it's mostly coconut milk with a strong flavor of gula malaka. Was on the sweeter side though glad for the coconut milk to balance out the spiciness of the hot sauce. - Beef rendang sandwich €6.50: sooo yummy. Considering the Indonesian and Chinese influences in Surinamese food, I've eaten my share of specifically Malaysian and Indonesian food in those countries and the curry flavors in the sandwich were prominent and super tasty. The spices were quite strong that even wrapped in foil and inside a plastic bag, my entire bag smelled like rendang (in a most moth-watering way lol) after carrying for some hours. The decor was cozy and filled the left side wall with pics of patrons of the past, opposite wall full length mirrors to make the space look larger. Seating enough for about 50-60 probably. Even though they were slammed, staff checked in periodically on how I was doing, refilled water, which indirectly led to an interesting conversation with another solo diner sitting at the bar. Strong recommend!

Definitely make a reservation as the narrow restaurant has limited seating. They turned away several parties on an early Thursday evening around 7 PM. A rijsttafel is an elaborate Indonesian meal that was adapted by the Dutch who colonized Indonesia. It consists of many, many side dishes served in small portions that are accompanied by rice prepared in several different ways. Although the dishes served are undoubtedly Indonesian, the rijsttafel's origins were colonial. The Dutch introduced the rice table to impress visitors with the exotic abundance of their colony while showcasing foods from different regions. Rijsttafels strive to feature an array of flavors, colors, degrees of spiciness and textures. The dishes may be crispy, crunchy, chewy, soft, hard or velvety. Such a beautiful display. A feast for the eyes as well as the palate. Ordered both the large and small Tujuh Maret's rice table. The larger rijsttafel includes all the specialties of the chef, composed of 18 different dishes. The smaller rice table can be ordered as mild-medium or medium spicy including chicken and tofu satay, yellow rice, jasmine rice, sweet and sour salads and prawn or rice crackers. Chicken dishes included (from least to most spicy): Ajam Opor-Chicken in a mild sauce of coconut and kurkuma. Ajam Roedjak-Chicken in a spicy sauce of red peppers and coconut. Ajam Rica Rica-Chicken in a spicy sauce of assorted peppers. Beef dishes included (from least to most spicy): Daging Smoor-Beef in a mild soy sauce and nutmeg Daging Rendang-Beef in a spicy sauce of various peppers and coconut Daging Belado-Beef in a spicy sauce of red peppers and tomatoes. Satay dishes included: Sate Ajam- Chicken satay with peanut sauce. Sate Tahu- Tofu satay with peanut sauce. Side dishes included: Gado Gado-Mixed vegetables with peanut butter sauce. Sambal Goreng Telor-Boiled egg with spicy sauce. Atjar Kuning Menado-Sweet and sour salad. Krupuk-Prawn crackers. Emping-Vegetarian crackers. Seroendeng-Grated coconut with peanuts. Nasi Putih-Steamed Jasmine rice. Nasi Kuning-Yellow rice with coconut and lemongrass. Although everything was delicious, it was definitely hard to remember what was what, even after our hostess was graciously described each of the 30 dishes that were on our rice tables. Labels would have helped. Finished with a Pandan crepe filled with coconut. A beautiful way to end a really nice evening in Amsterdam.

The Dutch adapted the dish during their colonization of Indonesia (1602-1942), basing it on the Indonesian feast nasi padang from West Sumatra. The word rijsttafel is Dutch and translates to "rice table". I was only visiting this beautiful city for a short time. My friend made a resy for us to enjoy a quaint and yummy meal at one of her go-to spots in the area. If you decide to forgo a resy and just walk in, you may have to wait, as there's very limited seating. We walked here and it was easy stroll, enjoying all the little shops & scenery along the way. When you walk in your greeted by a yummy smell of spices. It's definitely a family business. Tiny euro style restaurant. Food - we ordered the Rice table for 2. And bring your stomach space, because it's alot of food. We came hungry and still had leftovers. It's a progressive meal, from mild to spicy dishes. But I believe you can chose your level of spice with the server. 18 dishes come out all at once. Consisting of fish, chicken, beef, veg etc dishes plus rice. All with unique flavor and textures. Would highly suggest it if in the area. Even if it's not in your wheelhouse foodwise, still an interesting experience.
