The individual servings were small, but filling enough because of the heavy coconut milk used in most dishes. 1 star off: The attitude of the waitstaff was abysmal. First of all, their website does not offer reservations and they rarely answer their phones. So my family and I arrived at restaurant opening to get a table. The first thing they said to us was "Do you have a reservation? If you don't, I can only give you a table if you get out by 6:30PM." in a stern way. We said okay. The group that came after me also raised the issue that no one at the restaurant answers their phone for reservations. The waitstaff did not respond to that, but begrudging seated them. 1 star off: While we were ordering food, the waitstaff noticed that my son had a water bottle with him, and proceeded to give him a lecture that water bottles are not allowed and that we have to order water from them. He is a teenager...he does not know he was supposed to conceal his water bottle at this restaurant. We all ordered drinks, including water, but the experience left my family feeling unwelcomed.

Among the rice and noodles, I was surprised to see that they also offer lontong. I got the Nasi Rames menu (€7.70) which comes with white rice, three vegetable dishes, two meat types, and an egg. My choices were terong blado (eggplant and chilies), tumis kacang panjang (spicy tempe and greenbeans), oerap (salad of coconut and bean sprouts), and daging bali (Balinese style beef). I also asked for nasi kuning (rice cooked in coconut milk and turmeric) instead of white rice and the lady behind the counter was happy to substitute for a small fee which I don't remember but I was fine with the price. Everything was properly spicy, and they do warn you if you're faint of heart. The food tastes like it should, except I think the daging bali would be spicier in Bali. Delicious authentic Indonesian food! A plastic bag costs a few cents so be smart and bring your own or else carry the box in your hands. On your way out, you can also pick up a few essentials in their small grocery corner like fried anchovies or Kecap Manis. They also have some traditional cakes and fried snacks in the case by the entrance. Just don't expect to sit down here because there is only one table.

The tables could've been bigger only to fit the spread they bring out so it's not so tight but we made do. We ordered the Authentiek meal for 2 people at ~€100 total. We also ordered wine and beer. The option we chose came with a variety of their meat, fish and veg plates. My favorite was the codfish, beef rendang, eggplant, gado gado, and the baked banana. Indonesian food has a bit of tanginess and heat. It's subtle at first but catches up to you very quickly. The eggplant was so spicy but damn was it delicious. They place a long metal tray on the table with tea lights to keep the warm dishes hot. It's quite an experience and I'd recommend doing it at least once if you've never had Indonesia food before. The service was excellent and restaurant itself was nicely decorated and spotless.

I think many Indonesian dishes are not hurt by this, and especially rendang benefits from at least a day of maturing. The little lady behind the counter was friendly and efficient, quickly portioning food and using all four microwaves. Again I got the Ramas menu (€8,60) and I substituted bami for nasi, which costs €0,60 extra. I also noticed that they had Sambal Ikan (€3.00), so I added that to my order. There are only a couple tables to sit at, fortunately I was planning to take my food home and eat it later anyway. When I finally got around to eating it, I quickly noticed that it was searing my mouth! That's perfect for me, who uses El Yucateco hot sauce liberally on my eggs in the morning; definitely avoid the items marked as spicy if you can't take the heat. Again, I regretted getting bami and should have gotten nasi kuning instead. It costs the same and is more bland so it goes well with the other salty sides. Sambal Ikan turned out to be mackerel, which I love! And this was no exception. The oily fish went perfectly with the spicy sauce, and I was given a lot of it!
