Broke the chain on my mountain bike. Of course I wait until a beautiful Saturday to run down to Saraaota Cyclery to see if they can "fix it real quick" vs trying to order stuff on Amazon. Store was packed and the bike tech had a bunch of bikes behind the counter waiting to be serviced I showed him my dirty Mtn bike and broken chain. He checked my chain to make sure it was still good and that I did not need a new chain. He could have tried to "up sell me" to buy a new chain but did not. Said my chain was still good. Then God bless him said "give me 5 min" and took my bike away and within 10 minutes had it all done. Wow! Amazing and I am so grateful to him (Ken was the name on the receipt) and a that kind of customer service. Of course feeling guilty I bought a new water bottle and some GU's and Honey Stingers. You rock Sarasots Cycle and I will be back!!! read more

Very prompt service at short notice. They go above and beyond to satisfy their customers. Highly recommended

Good trek selection and deals. Good service and warranty as well. Recommend to anyone looking for a new bike.

My Granddaughter was fitted for a trek bike. They did an excellent job. My son noticed that Trek was having a sale on March 1st and asked if this bike would be on sale. They said no and this was the end of February. Well the bike did go on sale for $140. Less . They refused to refund the money even though they spent over $1000. They did offer $140. Credit on future services. This is terrible customer service and I would be cautious if I ever had trouble with a bike purchased from them, standing behind it. There shouldn't be an argument, do the right thing. read more

Refused to even look at my Trek bike after an accident because I had motorized it. The issues involved had nothing to do with the motor or battery (I needed a replacement derailleur and a spoke) and some tune-up. Bad attitude with no concern for this potential customer. read more

I've purchased three Trek bikes from Sarasota Cycle and relied on them for maintenance for 15ish years. Never a problem. Always honest and fair. Dave, the owner, is a class gentleman. He's on site most days working in the service area. Most of his staff have been with him for years. Jason in the service area for example 20 years. Mike up front I'm guessing about the same.. Always a good sign. Trek bikes of course a quality brand. You may also find bikes he has taken in trade or on consignment. As you'd expect a full line of accessories. I'm sure I've rated before but a recent experience which Dave went beyond normal expectation to assist me has me feeling very appreciative -- again. Thank you Dave. And staff. read more

Pulled in with my two bikes for some small repairs... thinking I needed to drop them off I was surprised to see Ken take the 1st bike, diagnose, and make the repair on the spot. He did the same for my second bike but given it required a new part that bike stayed at the shop for a quick turn-around repair. Great customer service Ken! read more

Been bringing my bike in for about a year now...popped 3 spokes on different occasions. Last time I asked what I can do..the owner that works in the service dept told me to replace the wheel since it's $60 and I'm paying $17 per spoke. I went with that..picked up my bike on a sat and went for a bike ride on Sunday..I rode a little over 1/2 mile, came to an intersection, had to stop and when I went to take off and put my foot on the peddle, my bike would not move. My back tire was locked up..got off the bike and moved fast out of the intersection. I pushed the wheel back away from the frame, but as soon as I tried the peddle again, it wouldn't move. I had to walk the bike home for a little over 3/4 of a mile. I was livid..there are so many ways that could have gone wrong. i brought the bike in Monday 4/18 and I explained it to the guy who was on and he told me it's bc the wheel didn't have axel nuts..I said did my old wheel and he said yes and said that he will order a new wheel with them. He said I'm so sorry this happened and I said I thank you for that but it means nothing..It could have been so bad. I told him I wanted to talk to the owner so I went back later..I was so surprised to find the guy I've been dealing with in the service dept is the owner. I asked if we could step outside to talk..he walked out and said he knows the story, he's the one that changed the wheel. He said he doesn't know what happened, he rode it and it was fine..I said I rode it to for a bit. What happened..he said it's just one of those things. I said I could have been hit..he says "I have". No apology, no credit for the wheel..nothing. He could care less. I don't trust them and now I'm afraid of riding my bike. I won't be going back...I will find another shop. Went back to pick up my bike 2 days later and he got it for me and told me he's giving me a $10 credit..really? Just add insult to injury..I should have blasted him and told him where he can put his big $10 and walked out the door. I don't want to do business with anyone like that...I'm still afraid to ride the bike! i'm back on the bike and everything is fine.. i had an issue with the gears bc of the wheel and went back and Ken helped me out.. read more

I am visiting from out-of-town so I Googled bike shops. I chose Sarasota Cycle because the shop down the street had many poor reviews. I am so glad I went to this shop. Ken was so nice and helped me with the problem with my saddle and I was out the door in no time. Thanks so much for such good customer service! I am going to be in the area for the next month so will be bringing my bike in for a once-over and a new chain. Thanks again. read more

At 64 yrs old, never did I think I'd want a bike. My son bought a used bike and all he talks about are the amazing rides he takes with his buddies up North. My normal exercise for the past three years has been power walking in the mornings on a regular basis and I thought, why not get a bike a travel more areas. So I did it. First, I went to another store closer to me and was not real happy with the salesman, not real friendly and had very little stock. Then my husband did some searching and found Sarasota Cyclery. He called and they had the exact Trek Verve 3 low step bike in my size and color that I wanted plus many more. Mike held the bike for me (hot item) and we headed to the store. We were greeted by Mike and he pointed my bike out to me while he assisted another customer. Very busy shop which tells you something. Mike told me to take it out for a spin and I was sold. Such a nice bike and he went over everything for me on the bike and then fitted me for a helmet. Super nice, patient owner . I'm a very happy customer!! read more

My son was hit by a car on his bike (he's fine!) but his bike appeared totaled. I went to Sarasota Cycle and while they agreed the bike was a mess, they had enough spare parts from another damaged bike to bring his back to life. And they did the work for an unbelievably low price and incredibly fast. The bike was ready the next business day and looks brand new. Dave truly made it a personal mission to get my son back on the road as his bike is his only mode of transportation. I cannot thank Dave enough for the amazing care he put into this project. Sarasota Cycle is simply the best!!! read more

I bought a new Townie bike from another dealer, Popcycles, and had clicking in 2 of the 7 gears. Took it back to Popcycles twice, but they could not hear the clicking and accused me of creating the problem in any case. Frustrated, I took it to Sarasota Cyclery. The technician checked out the bike--rode it and and could hear the problem. He removed the rear wheel and determined that the gear set was faulty. He replaced the gear set, at no charge because the bike is new and under warranty. It took him about 10 minutes to diagnose and fix the problem. Bike rides perfect now. Great job!! Many thanks. read more

During the COVID-19 pandemic, it was hard to find bikes and forget it if you wanted a specific bike . I called several TREK shops in Tampa Bay area and Sarasota Cyclery was the only one that could help me. Others told me it might be months for the bike I wanted (Trek Domane SL4) or possibly it was no longer being manufactured. I contacted Sarasota Cycle via email on a whim and they contacted me very quickly. Spoke with Mike the lead salesman and he was able to order the bike for me in my size. He was professional and very patient with me ( I couldn't find my credit card!). The bike came in as he predicted and was ready about one week earlier than he initially thought. Picked up the bike at the shop (wow, that place is big!).The store itself was very clean and it seemed they had a good inventory. Easy to find. Shout out to all who helped me (the mechanic who put on my pedals, the single store employee who went over the bike briefly). Overall I had a good experience and it was worth the one hour drive. I highly recommend this bike shop. read more

Took my bike here for a repair as another shop could not even diagnose it for three weeks. Front wheel was locking up and not spinning. Had expectations of a week to diagnose and then time for repairs and parts delivery. This place diagnosed it and repaired it in less than a day. They took the time to diagnose and realize it was such a minor repair they knocked it out and returned it to me in record time. Best service I have EVER had from a bike shop both here and in OH. I own a GIANT but might consider a TREK or other brands this shop sells just because of the service. Great job and I am a loyal customer now and highly recommend. read more

Rented a bike from these guys last week while visiting Sarasota. Cannot believe how friendly and helpful they were, especially Matt with whom I worked. He showed me some good rides around the area and some places that weren't good for biking. With the rental they gave me a repair kit and allen tool to adjust the seat. All great! Rental price was half what another local place wanted for the week and the bike was 10 times better than any bike I've ever ridden. read more

I am very pleased with my recent purchase of a new Trek hybrid men's bike, along with a bike carrier rack for my car, and a helmet, all from Sarasota Cycle and Fitness. Andy, the salesperson I worked with, was friendly, patient and well-informed as to all available goods and services. Andy helped me pick out the right size and model bike in my desired color. Although the bike wasn't in stock, I was promptly notified when it arrived, as promised, at the store two days later. I also decided to purchase a removable bike carrier rack for my car. Andy explained my options, made his recommendation (with which I concurred) and actually installed the rack on my car for me. Likewise, Andy explained and helped me pick out the right helmet. Again, I was very pleased and impressed with Sarasota Cycle and Fitness, and I recommend it highly in terms of its quality goods and services. read more

Sarasota Cyclery took care of replacing my rear wheel on my Trek bike with the correct wheel at a fair price. I went to another Trek dealer which was a huge disappointment. I only wish I had come here first! Not all Trek dealers are the same!! These guys were friendly, ordered the correct wheel and serviced my bike quickly. They were slammed they day I brought the bike in for servicing and still they got my bike back to me same day. I can't say enough about the great service these guys provided. I will definitely return for all my bike needs or next bike purchase. I highly recommend Sarasota Cyclery!! read more

I made my first big bike purchase (big for me) and purchased a $3300 bicycle. Carbon fiber frame, solid components - real nice road bike. On getting it home and after taking it for its maiden ride, I noted what appeared to be a ripple or slight crease in the downtube. Not from damage but instead, from what appeared to be a mfg defect. Perhaps a seam that was poorly fit. Anyway, I wrote to Sarasota Cyclery, advised them of the observation and asked to bring it in for an inspection/swap. I received a reply that night noting to bring it anytime at my convenience. On arriving to service I met with Dave and he inspected the bike, explained what it likely was (as noted above) and agreed, with no issue, to swap out the bike. Fortunately there was another exact same bike in my size. The team there subsequently swapped out the bike (after they had to transfer my peddles, speedometer, bottle cages, etc.) and made it a non-issue. In all honesty I expected pushback (not sure why...perhaps just my anticipation in today's environment) and instead I got a fast response, no-hassle service and prompt fix. Kudo's to Sarasota Cyclery and Dave and his team. In todays environment where it's hard to even get a road bike, they not only have the technical knowledge but a great commitment to service. Hat's off and sincere thanks. You've created a customer who will not only return for service and merchandise but who will share this great example of customer service with others. Thanks again. read more

Ist Class Service, I was in the market for a new Trek bicycle, the 2012 model that I wanted did not have the components I needed. Without hesitation Dave said, he would arrange to have the components changed and have the bicycle ready for me within a week. I assumed he was the owner making the quick decision to satisfy a customer. Upon returning to have the bicycle fitted to me did I find out he was not the owner. If I had not talked to Dave, I would have ended up with a bicycle from another shop that I would not have been satisfied with. I returned to have some minor changes in the fit and Matt took great care in making the adjustments. Thanks to Big Dave in having such great employees working at his store. read more

First of all I walked in with two bikes which needed air for sure as a result of our move to Sarasota from California since they had been on the back of a moving van for 3 weeks. Both bikes were like new and good ones. I asked the service counter guy with ZERO personality if he could put some air in the tires and his response was to let me see if this needs anything else. I thought ok good place to go to and then after a minute of looking at the bike he said oh it needs adjustments. He asked for name and phone number and hands me a receipt. Right off the bat I should have looked at the receipt or asked "how much" and that mistake is on me. The bike was suppose to be ready in a week and that came and went so I went back to the shop to check in and sure it enough it was ready. When I asked why someone did not call me as indicated the young woman at the counter said nothing. She had the right phone number. So I put the bike in my car and drove home. Get the bike out to drive it and realized they never put air in the tires as originally asked. So for $64 I got my bike back without the air and at this point I am not sure if they did a damn thing except overcharge for a service that at best was incomplete. Once I return to pick up my second bike and pay the rip off price I will be sure to ride it before leaving the lot and plan to let the staff know they did not even manage to get the first bike right. Update: So I did go back because once again the timeframe for picking up the second bike came and went without any notification. Sure enough the bike was ready. When picking up the bike by sheer luck I managed to get the owner to ring up my charge. I explained how disappointed I was that the price was never explained to me for the tune up and when I got the first bike home it had never had the tires filled with air. Nor was I notified either bike was ready. I also stated that it was on me for not asking what is the tune up costs would be for both bikes. But don't the staff have a similar responsibility to a new customer to advise such costs and a breakdown of what they will do for the money? In summary, the staff lacked any customer service skills in the repair section of the bike business. They should have indicated what the tune up price would entail when recommending that service and yes I should have first asked before agreeing to drop the bikes off. $64 and these guys could not even remember the original reason for bringing in the bike, i.e. air? Also managed to lower the seat and not return it to its original position. Finally after speaking with the owner expressing my disappointment I am even more convinced this is not a place I want to do business with. read more
