Today was the second time a visit to Ryder bikes saved me from serious injury. Riders, if your bike is making a strange noise or a rattling sound please have it checked out. My rear disk brake was squealing and nothing I could do seemed to fiix the problem. Jeff found I had a cracked frame which could have led to disaster. Today, when I started my ride I heard a rattling that I could not determine where it was from .. not the bottle holders, nor the garmin mount. I decided to stop in Ryder during the ride. Within minutes, Jeff found that my rear break caliper bolts were loose and that was the source. Could have been a very serious situation. The staff at Ryder Bikes are efficient , professional and friendly. They realize that when a customer brings their bike in for repair "they need it dealt with asap, that is why they get on it straight away "if possible" and try and get it done as quickly as they can. I have never had a bad experience there with the staff, they take their time to explain options, new items for the bikes and anything else you require about. After purchasing my bike about a year ago, I decided to purchase my wife a bike. During the purchase everything was great got a text to come and pick it up. When picking it up, we noticed a small Nick in the paint we brought it to the retention and the sales person seem irritated offered us $30 or a different bike we chose a different bike and even got more irritated I'm guessing the owner doesn't know about the way the salesman treats his customers I would've highly recommended to shop until my last experience. Hopefully this was an isolated incident After spending $700 on a bike I would expect a little bit better service. read more

I went here to buy a tool to remove the cassette. They offered to take a look at the hub and see what was wrong. 1/2 hr later, my hub was fixed. I wanted to pay for their work. They charged me $20 for a brake service and I was out the door. The first went to another shop that told me it would take a week to rebuild the hub. Needless to say, I am extremely happy with Ryder Bikes and highly recommend them. They have great customer service and knowledgeable repairmen. Customer for life! read more

I bought a tire tube for my bike at Ryder. I am new to ebikes but knew I needed a 3 inch tube. The mechanic said they didn't have 3 inch but they did have 4 inch and that would work fine. I took his word for it and bought the tube. When I attempted to put the tube on my bike it was obvious that the tube was not right for my bike. I brought the tube back to Ryder and was told they don't take tube back. They didn't tell me that when I bought it. To me this is a scam. " Just give him any tube he can't return it anyway" I can't believe they get any return customers. Beware! read more

I can only speak of my experience but... Today is my son's birthday and we came here based on a recommendation from a friend. The store was fairly busy and after waiting to be helped for about 5 mins, I walked to the back (where I guess they do services). After standing there for another 5 or so minutes, we were asked to back to the front to be helped. After standing there for another 5-8 mins (mind you, after never being greeted or acknowledged) I finally grabbed one of the associates and asked if someone was going to help us. His response wasn't one of humility or even of customer service...just a curt "I can only help one customer at a time." The problem with that statement was, he was helping people who'd walked in after us. While leaving, I explained why we were leaving and got a very arrogant 'yup, we're busy, you'll have to wait your turn." I smiled and walked out. After reading some of the experiences here, seems the owner has some training to do with his staff. We won't be coming back. We were taken care of at Village Bike's in LWR. They were excited and thankful for us to be in their store. read more

Super expensive on all their items whether it be bikes themselves or for service. There are other local bike shops in the area that don't overcharge. Also, my cousin took his bike to be repaired here a while back and they did an awful job on the mechanisms and they charged him a pretty steep price. He had to wind up taking it to another repair shop and start from scratch again. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. read more

Bought my mountain bike FROM STOCK on thur 12/2. Test rode bike very briefly on pavement at back of store. After purchase, rode 11 miles that day mostly off road. Next day called to ask if there was mutually acceptable return option. I'm 79 and found the off road experience too hard on my body. Matt ( polite) said call Monday -- Mark the manager who sold me the bike was out till Monday. I did call early Monday and call never returned. Same for Tuesday until I called at noonish. Mark informed me for the first time their return policy was 48 hours. ( Note I had called to ask about return within 24 hours. I relayed this info to Mark in an email immediately post our discussion.) No offer was proffered for trade credit or a return w a restocking fee. Only time I heard of return policy was when I asked. It's not on their website or noted on my invoice. My invoice cost $1800. Plus selling hassle. My lessons. Be careful who you deal with. Ask good questions. PS When I picked up the bike Mark sold me the necessary accessories. i don't recall anything noted re using and maintenance considerations. When I first went in store he stood at his computer while I wandered looking at bikes just yards in front of him. No hello, no can I help you. Obviously I should have left then. I wouldn't have had to write this note for consideration by potential customers. I realize there have to be rules re returns. And not everyone will agree w my pique.Or my rating. I do feel better for sharing my experience. It's some recompense. read more

One Star is a gift. I am new to area and a serious cyclist, albeit a bit older. Clearly my grey hair indicated I was not worth Ryder's time. The staff did not care. Had to actually ask for help in a store with three staff and one other customer. I am a big fan of supporting local bike shops, but go to ones that care. Fantastic experience here. Jeff was awesome in many ways. Listening skills is top on my list. Have tried over the years to buy cheap bikes from big box stores and have been disappointed with quality. I'm early 50's and wanted a lightweight comfortable bike that is reliable. Jeff was super patient and extremely accommodating and helpful. I highly recommend this place. read more

I purchased a bike from Rider Bikes and after less than a year the chain and gears had to be replaced and approximately a year after that I was told the gears had to be replaced again. When questioned about the unusual frequency of replacement of the gears the manager told me that it was not unusual for that to happen especially if the bike was continually ridden in the highest gears. It is interesting to note that my wife has had Schwinn bike for the past four years with 21 speed gears and continually ridden in high gear and neither the chain nor gears had to be replaced. We both had TREK bikes for eight years and continually rode the bikes in the highest gears and never had to replace either the chains or gears. Does that tell you, the reader, something about the product? It should! read more

I'm giving an extra star since bike supply chain issues are causing massive shortages. That said, i reserved a bike that was due in the next week. A month later called back and was given an entirely new story and timeline on the bike. When I cancelled yesterday, not a single question of why. Lost their business to Trek and couldn't care less. It starts with the owner who needs to take a long hard look at his business judging by all the negative reviews about poor customer service. read more

Went in to buy all the basics. I receive my bike as a gift and needed all accessories and advice. Manager Collin was rude and condescending, seemed annoyed I was asking him questions. I left without a purchase. I called to inquire if Collin realizes he is rude and driving away customers. He told me to shop somewhere else. I will. read more

Wasn't having much luck finding replacement tubes and tires for my 15 year old Giant mountain bike. Noticed this shop when I stopped in the UPS store across the way. Didn't expect much given the reviews but stopped in anyway. Zeke greeted me after a few minutes of looking around and helped me with exactly what I needed. Some local knowledge and products that could withstand the roads I'd be riding on. He was very knowledgeable and didn't try and over sell me which is my primary negative about bricks and mortar retail. He gave me honest advice to all my questions. I"ll be back. read more

I took my bike to them to install the front wheel back on to the bike and requested to the service technician to perform any work they believed necessary to bike. I instructed the technician to inspect the front and rear lights,brakes,and left foot pedal strap especially. When I returned home after picking up bike from store, I checked the front and rear lights. They didn't work and when I replaced batteries the lights came on,however rear light stayed on continuously.This did not instill in me any confidence in their work since they didn't check what I requested. I was charged a TUNE UP charge which I can understand for wheel replacement,chain work but they didn't do a complete TUNE UP. I called them and spoke to manager Mark and explained that I was disappointed in their work since they didn't check all I requested. He stated he understood my disappointment. I stated if he would like to retain my confidence to send someone out since I live less 30 minutes to check over bike and bring a new rear light which I would pay for. No comment from Mark. We ended call. I would not recommend Ryder Bikes to anyone,based upon my experience. They lost out on a number of possible sales- a new bike for wife,helmet/accessories and trailer hitch plus car bike rack for two. read more

I brought my bike in for a tune-up and new handlebars. I was told the bike would be ready in 10 days. Two weeks later I was told over the phone the bike wasn't ready, but I would be called when it was ready. A few days later I went into the store to pick up my unfixed bike. I was politely and apologetically informed it was next in line and would be ready the next day. Two days later, I picked up my bike which had sat untouched for 3 weeks. The guys I dealt with were polite and knowledgeable, but absolutely incompetent at getting the job done. I do not recommend doing business with Ryder Bikes read more

I went to the store with the intention of buying two bikes today... I stepped into the store and started browsing to find something I like for myself and my wife. Some guy came out of the back about five minutes after I was in the store and gave me attitude for walking around... wait for it... inside the store! I was on the phone asking the wife what kind of bike she wanted as I already had my eye on one I was ready to pull the trigger on... but, mr. attitude was more concerned about me having to stand in a blue painters tape box he pointed out that was on the floor just inside the entrance to the store. I had no idea what he was referring to as it was not apparently clear what I was required to do... so, not to have the guy suffer an aneurysm, I decided to just leave the almost empty store that had one customer in there that clearly was just window shopping... I ended up giving my business to the Trek store in Lakewood Ranch! Dean was way more appreciative of the business, was very helpful in assisting me select two nice bikes and his system of social distancing was very efficient considering the circumstances! I was hesitant to go into this store at first because I have been burned by bike shops before, but I decided to give it a go because I just got a flat and it beat walking the bike back to my house. When I came in, everything was great, I was greeted nicely, I was on track to get the tire and tube replacement I so direly needed. My bottom bracket was not doing well, so I asked if they could work on it too. This is where the issues started, I was told the tire would be done on the spot, then I would get a call about the state of the bottom bracket in a few days. After a few days I went in to check on it, and the bike wasn't even in the work area, it was exactly where I left it the day I went in. I asked about it and the guy told me 'well no one called about it, so we didn't do any work on it.' Lovely. I gave them the 'go ahead' they so desperately needed and then they told me they would call me when it was done. I got the call and I went in to the guy telling me my bike was essentially trash, and asking if I wanted to just take my wheel and toss the rest. I don't know if this was some sort of scam? It was so out of left field. He said the bottom bracket wouldn't come off, so there was nothing else to do. So I took my bike as it was, and bought the tools myself, and surprise! I got it off and fixed it for 30$ and now I have the tools too, so I won't have to deal with trying to convince someone to fix my bike even though it's not a professional grade ride. read more

Needed unexpected repairs for a tire/tube issue with my wheelchair. I'm "dead in the water" without my chair. The team at Ryder was understanding, gracious, knowledgable and eager to help. These people just plain "get it". With their immediate assistance I was back on my way able to join my family's activities. Thank you to a wonderful shop and a great group of guys.
