Great! I went in looking for a simple cruiser bike with back pedal brakes. They didn't have one, but they searched the website of their competitor who had one in the color I talked about with them. They gave me the name and the phone number of their competitor who had one in stock. That is great and selfless service!!! These are nice people! read more

They charge to assemble a new bike. Most bike shops include assembly. Especially for a bike over 2K. I bought the same bike elsewhere and got it assembled at no extra cost. But if they have what you want, it's worth it if this shop is nearby. read more

I used several of the bike shops around before finding POPcycle and have been very pleased. Having purchased (and serviced) two bikes there I have found them to be knowledgable, price competitive, and very nice people. read more

Awesome place to get your biking needs. I read a lot of the reviews here and after my experience I disagree with most of them. I came to the store with a specific bike in mind (very high priced), but after explaining Jeff (the owner) my needs, he quickly adjusted me towards the correct bikes and gave me a crash course on all bike types and uses. I went home and did a further research before going back to POPcycles to buy myself, my wife and my daughter our bikes. And...we cannot be happier. The personal service you receive there with the awesome smiles from all the staff is one of a kind experience and the reason I chose this store over others I went to get opinions from. This is all I would expect from a "mom's and pop's" shop. Thanks for the great experience and i will definitely recommend this store! Zeev read more

Really nice staff and very knowledgeable. Ordered a Trek bike online, had it shipped here, and they assembled it and added a few accessories. They went over the bike and I test rode it. Highly recommend them. read more

Avoid this bike shop, I went in with an Amazon purchase mountain bike for a tune up and they literally threw me out of the place. Both the guy and the woman gave me some BS about liability and that I would never find a shop to work on my bike. Well Pinnacle Wheel Works on Ringling Blvd took my bike in with no issue, nice guy who only does repairs and upgrades no sales. Popcycles lost a customer I would never buy a bike there read more

Great mom and pop shop. Friendly and service focused. Just purchased two Trek e-bikes. Great products!

The owners were so knowledgeable and friendly. They did a fantastic job, fixing up my older Electra Towny bike and cleaning and tuning it all up like new. They were able to answer every question I had, and give me guidance on how to keep the bike in good order. I would highly recommend this place, and I will be returning anytime I need service.... Or even a new bike read more

Awesome dudes and they sold me a great bike, very happy and will see you for future work.

Kindly walked in and bought two new tubes for my bike and asked if I could use their tube tool to make the switch in store. The cashier quickly snapped that this wasn't a DIY store and he couldn't keep the doors open just letting folks fix their bikes in store. I was so shocked by his aggressive response, I ended up having to purchase the small tool and left. They should think about updating their prehistoric business model and possibly hiring new staff. Take your bike needs elsewhere if you're looking for a fast and friendly service. read more

I was on Clark and ended up getting a flat. Searched for nearest place and came across POPcycles. Thought hey sounds like a mom n pops place that would be good. Oh hell no it wasn't. Upon entering I had spoken with the female behind the desk and said I got a flat can it be repaired? Then my best guess the owner came up front and said NO we can't repair it and walked right by me straight to the door to escort me out. I said it's only a tube? Oh well can't do it for insurance purposes and we only service what we sell. Really putting $40 in your register or whatever they would charge isn't important? I was completely baffled how a tube could not be changed. We don't fix pieces of shit bikes like yours and have a nice walk ,walking that piece of shit home. Well a whole showroom of bikes and none of them are moving out the door. I'll take my piece of shit over theirs any day. The only way those bikes are gonna move out there showroom is when they go out of business. I def said I'm gonna leave a review and he stated no one gonna listen to you. You are correct they not gonna listen but they are gonna read tho. I def don't recommend anyone going here. Owner has a poor attitude. Don't waste your time and def don't waste your money. This is why ppl buy online nowadays cause of piss poor ppl like this. Have a blessed day pops read more

We came in as they were closing yet he still fixed my bad tire. Very kind. Excellent customer service.

So I happened in at 11:30 am after a rear tire on a bike popped the tube in the tire. Was greeted by a nice gentleman who said he would fix it in a 1/2 hour. My thought was, really? This was much quicker and more service than I expected! Went to the Publix to shop while waiting the 1/2 hour and when I came back the bike was ready! In and out in less than an hour for $21! They had a good selection of bikes and indicated all were available for a test drive. I expect I'll be back. read more

Took my wife's bike in to install a new tube in the rear tire and they kindly repaired it while I waited. Unlike other reviews, I had no issues with attitudes as everyone seemed very nice and accommodating. All was good until I got home and she tried to ride it....the rear brakes were seized and she couldn't ride it. I tried adjusting the cable and seemed to work fine but, while riding, the brake seized again. Fortunately, she was near Village Bikes who not only repaired it immediately, but also allowed her to cycle home and phone in a credit card number. read more

Meh... I took a Schwinn bike in for a tune up that they tuned up several years ago when they first opened I bought an electra bike seat from them for the bike. This time, they refused to help me and proceeded to insult the bike calling it a "junk" bike. Evidently it is beneath them to work on a "cheap copy of a real bike". The bike was purchased by my mother for my son and has since passed away. I'm sure they have strong feelings about people buying bikes from big box stores but the delivery of his message could have been more diplomatic. He did fix a flat for another "junk" bike I own for $25.00. When I inquired about their brand of bike, they didn't have the inventory to sell me a "good" bike. Unfortunately they have lost me as a customer and I will take my money elsewhere when I choose to upgrade. Insults are not a characteristic of being honest, it's just plain rude... read more

My friends came from Nebraska to ride the Legacy Trail, and their tire was flat. The staff realized a tire rim was missing, and fixed it quickly so we could get to the trail. My friends picked out a new basket, but the configuration did not fit in between the handle bars. The expert repairman used the existing bracket and we were good to go! I needed a new helmet, and Denise walked me through all the options and did not push the most expensive one. The helmets they sell are selected for the highest safety standards. I appreciate their expertise in only selling products they can stand by. I'm so fortunate to have POPcycles as my local bike shop. read more

Needed a good sturdy bike. They chose four for me to test drive out back where it's safe to ride a bike. They explained what I needed to know and didn't waste my time with sales pitches. I loved the bikes that were chosen for me but ultimately after the trials I got the best one for me. I chose a basket which the guy (sorry, forgot his name) told me to choose a different one bc it fit my bike better and that was very helpful. He attached my basket, bell and mirror while I paid. He carefully put it in my car and today I rode ten miles on the legacy trail. The bike is perfect. I love it. Highly recommend Popcycles! read more

What a fun shopping experience! Actually stopped in to discuss the options of repairing an older bike of mine but couldn't resist a test ride on a seafoam green Townie bike. It was such a comfortable ride. The owners are a super friendly, no-pressure couple who offer a great customer experience. I love this bike with the cutest wicker basket. It was a sharp contrast with another attempt at a different bike /repair shop. Go to POPCycles! read more

POPcycles - Bike Repair/Maintenance Near Me - Sarasota, Florida

Very helpful people - had a broken spoke a day before a family and friends ride on the legacy trail. Came in around noon expecting it would take a few days to even get to my bike but they told me it would be ready by 5 pm. They finished the job 2.5 hours early and we avoided cancelling our trip. Very patient helpful folks. Took a good amount of time helping me decide on the best fitting bike for my needs. Super polite staff (which is in stark contrast to some other bike shops I've visited in Sarasota). Not pushy, and I never felt they just wanted to get back to another project (which I've witnessed elsewhere before). I highly recommend them if you're looking for professional guidance and a pleasurable experience. read more

BUYER BEWARE!!! Recently purchased a TOWNIE bike on a Friday and had a severe bike accident on the following Sunday. A broken femur and shattered elbow required two extensive surgeries. After a one week hospital stay,I won't be riding a bike for a long time! Miraculously, the bike was unharmed. We called the store to see how could return the bike and was told there are NO RETURNS! They would not make any exception to their policy what so ever, and directed me to my sales receipt where yes, their policy was printed in small print! Unfortunately, no one told me of the policy BEFORE I bought the bike and gave me the receipt or i would never have purchased the bike there! The bike shop in Bradenton has a 60 day return policy on the same bike and provide tune ups as well. I only wish I had known of their total inconsideration of their customer's situation and demonstrated some flexibility in working with me. Their attitude was appalling to me and if I could, I wouldn't give them one star at all! Unless you're will to take a chance on loosing your entire purchase, I wouldn't buy a stick of gum from them! I hope this helps someone in the future from making a mistake as I did! read more

I do concur with the comments from other reviewers, the owner does lack customer service skills. The store has a good inventory of bikes, despite the current shortage, but they do take advantage of the current demand with the pricing. I do like to support local businesses, especially if they carry US Made merchandise. read more

I travel fulltime so I experience a variety of businesses that I need all across the nation. This is one of the best bicycle shops I have ever been to. I took my 20 year old Trek in for a tune-up and when I picked it up the next day it looked brand new. It rides like new also. Jeff and Denise are the best! Their prices are great and Jeff is the best mechanic I have ever taken my bike to. Thanks for everything. read more

I used Popcycles on our original Walmart bikes. They were great. He told us what he could and could not do on the bikes. He told us that due to quality of the bike (we knew they were not that high of quality) the adjustments would only hold up for a few months. He was very honest, answered many questions over the course of several months and has been excellent to deal with. When we were sure we would continue riding they were great to work with on getting us bikes that fit our needs. A couple of other shops we had checked with before were only interested in selling the most expensive bikes they had. My wife and I highly recommend POPCycles for their courtesy, knowledge, repair/maintenance expertise and the time they take with customers. read more

So thrilled with the service here! I was visiting Sarasota to compete in a triathlon, which was being held on Sunday. I originally planned to rent Saturday-Monday, then fly home Monday... until my boss called me on Friday and asked me to fly to a client site Sunday night. Although POPcycles is closed on Sundays, when I spoke with the owners, they were kind enough to meet me at the shop on Sunday so I could catch the earlier flight... what amazing above and beyond service!! The bike itself was great, and I would definitely rent here again if I come back to town. Thank you! read more

Needed a new tire and was pleased my bike was ready the next day. Unfortunately I didn't look at the new tire carefully. My bike is a hybrid with not super narrow tires or slicks. What I got was almost a slick tire and not the same pressure rating as the "good tire" on the bike. When I rode, I didn't feel I had the right traction and the bike handled poorly because of the difference in air pressure. I took the bike back and was told they didn't have a tire that closely matched my tire and what they gave me was a good tire. I asked why they didn't call me to ask if this was acceptable. Again the excuse now for just about everything, can't get a big selection because of Covid. I was told to reduce the tire pressure to be in the range of the other tire. So I tried that and if I reduce the tire pressure whoever rides behind me tells me I need to put air in my tire. Riding on a tire not properly inflated is not easy IMO. Not pleased with their level of communication or assistance in solving the problem-they basically didn't care. I'll be replacing the tire myself after spending $50 on what is a garbage tire to me. read more

As a cyclist it's important to have confidence in a bike shop that offers professional service, recommendation and generally ones best interest at heart in order to make cycling fun. Jeff and Denise of POPCycles live by this philosophy whether updating my relic or tuning up my road bike.
