I came to the store with a specific bike in mind (very high priced), but after explaining Jeff (the owner) my needs, he quickly adjusted me towards the correct bikes and gave me a crash course on all bike types and uses. I went home and did a further research before going back to POPcycles to buy myself, my wife and my daughter our bikes. And...we cannot be happier. Both the guy and the woman gave me some BS about liability and that I would never find a shop to work on my bike. I was on Clark and ended up getting a flat. Searched for nearest place and came across POPcycles. Thought hey sounds like a mom n pops place that would be good. Oh hell no it wasn't. Upon entering I had spoken with the female behind the desk and said I got a flat can it be repaired? Then my best guess the owner came up front and said NO we can't repair it and walked right by me straight to the door to escort me out. I said it's only a tube? Oh well can't do it for insurance purposes and we only service what we sell. Really putting $40 in your register or whatever they would charge isn't important? I was completely baffled how a tube could not be changed. We don't fix pieces of shit bikes like yours and have a nice walk ,walking that piece of shit home. Well a whole showroom of bikes and none of them are moving out the door. I'll take my piece of shit over theirs any day. The only way those bikes are gonna move out there showroom is when they go out of business. I def said I'm gonna leave a review and he stated no one gonna listen to you. Kindly walked in and bought two new tubes for my bike and asked if I could use their tube tool to make the switch in store. The cashier quickly snapped that this wasn't a DIY store and he couldn't keep the doors open just letting folks fix their bikes in store. I was so shocked by his aggressive response, I ended up having to purchase the small tool and left. They should think about updating their prehistoric business model and possibly hiring new staff. So I happened in at 11:30 am after a rear tire on a bike popped the tube in the tire. Was greeted by a nice gentleman who said he would fix it in a 1/2 hour. My thought was, really? This was much quicker and more service than I expected! Went to the Publix to shop while waiting the 1/2 hour and when I came back the bike was ready! In and out in less than an hour for $21! Took my wife's bike in to install a new tube in the rear tire and they kindly repaired it while I waited. Unlike other reviews, I had no issues with attitudes as everyone seemed very nice and accommodating. All was good until I got home and she tried to ride it....the rear brakes were seized and she couldn't ride it. I tried adjusting the cable and seemed to work fine but, while riding, the brake seized again. Fortunately, she was near Village Bikes who not only repaired it immediately, but also allowed her to cycle home and phone in a credit card number. read more

Meh... I took a Schwinn bike in for a tune up that they tuned up several years ago when they first opened I bought an electra bike seat from them for the bike. This time, they refused to help me and proceeded to insult the bike calling it a "junk" bike. Evidently it is beneath them to work on a "cheap copy of a real bike". The bike was purchased by my mother for my son and has since passed away. I'm sure they have strong feelings about people buying bikes from big box stores but the delivery of his message could have been more diplomatic. He did fix a flat for another "junk" bike I own for $25.00. When I inquired about their brand of bike, they didn't have the inventory to sell me a "good" bike. My friends came from Nebraska to ride the Legacy Trail, and their tire was flat. The staff realized a tire rim was missing, and fixed it quickly so we could get to the trail. My friends picked out a new basket, but the configuration did not fit in between the handle bars. The expert repairman used the existing bracket and we were good to go! I needed a new helmet, and Denise walked me through all the options and did not push the most expensive one. The helmets they sell are selected for the highest safety standards. Needed a good sturdy bike. They chose four for me to test drive out back where it's safe to ride a bike. They explained what I needed to know and didn't waste my time with sales pitches. I loved the bikes that were chosen for me but ultimately after the trials I got the best one for me. I chose a basket which the guy (sorry, forgot his name) told me to choose a different one bc it fit my bike better and that was very helpful. He attached my basket, bell and mirror while I paid. BUYER BEWARE!!! Recently purchased a TOWNIE bike on a Friday and had a severe bike accident on the following Sunday. A broken femur and shattered elbow required two extensive surgeries. After a one week hospital stay,I won't be riding a bike for a long time! Miraculously, the bike was unharmed. We called the store to see how could return the bike and was told there are NO RETURNS! They would not make any exception to their policy what so ever, and directed me to my sales receipt where yes, their policy was printed in small print! Unfortunately, no one told me of the policy BEFORE I bought the bike and gave me the receipt or i would never have purchased the bike there! The bike shop in Bradenton has a 60 day return policy on the same bike and provide tune ups as well. I only wish I had known of their total inconsideration of their customer's situation and demonstrated some flexibility in working with me. Their attitude was appalling to me and if I could, I wouldn't give them one star at all! Unless you're will to take a chance on loosing your entire purchase, I wouldn't buy a stick of gum from them! I hope this helps someone in the future from making a mistake as I did! read more

I used Popcycles on our original Walmart bikes. They were great. He told us what he could and could not do on the bikes. He told us that due to quality of the bike (we knew they were not that high of quality) the adjustments would only hold up for a few months. He was very honest, answered many questions over the course of several months and has been excellent to deal with. When we were sure we would continue riding they were great to work with on getting us bikes that fit our needs. A couple of other shops we had checked with before were only interested in selling the most expensive bikes they had. My wife and I highly recommend POPCycles for their courtesy, knowledge, repair/maintenance expertise and the time they take with customers. read more

So thrilled with the service here! I was visiting Sarasota to compete in a triathlon, which was being held on Sunday. I originally planned to rent Saturday-Monday, then fly home Monday... until my boss called me on Friday and asked me to fly to a client site Sunday night. Needed a new tire and was pleased my bike was ready the next day. Unfortunately I didn't look at the new tire carefully. My bike is a hybrid with not super narrow tires or slicks. What I got was almost a slick tire and not the same pressure rating as the "good tire" on the bike. When I rode, I didn't feel I had the right traction and the bike handled poorly because of the difference in air pressure. I took the bike back and was told they didn't have a tire that closely matched my tire and what they gave me was a good tire. I asked why they didn't call me to ask if this was acceptable. Again the excuse now for just about everything, can't get a big selection because of Covid. I was told to reduce the tire pressure to be in the range of the other tire. So I tried that and if I reduce the tire pressure whoever rides behind me tells me I need to put air in my tire. Riding on a tire not properly inflated is not easy IMO. Not pleased with their level of communication or assistance in solving the problem-they basically didn't care. I'll be replacing the tire myself after spending $50 on what is a garbage tire to me. read more
