Initially everything was good. Lots of great shirt alterations, no problems. Unfortunately the last 4 pairs of pants my wife and I have taken have all had issues. Weird looking hems and things getting taken in too much. Totally ruined 2 pairs of denim. Managed to get the other 2 fixed. I was attending a wedding and planned on wearing a very special vintage silk dress but it no longer zipped up in the back (by a lot) It was simply too small and my back was too wide to close the dress or wear / sit properly. Lengthy but worth it! I had my wedding dress custom made for me two years ago. Fast forward a pandemic, a postponed wedding, and some weight loss and it just didn't quite fit the same. Luckily, I had Sara's shop saved in my wedding favorites and took my dress to her when time was finally drawing near. To say I love Sara is an understatement. I have known her for barely anytime at all and she feels like family. She shares her honest opinion and is amazing at her craft. A true magician. FYI she spends no time letting you second guess a possibility! I was having an internal debate about my neckline and she just took a pair of scissors to my dress with me in it and said, "I can fix that!" When she tailored my dress and I tried it on for the first time she said "There! Now you can see those beautiful curves!" She made me feel like a million bucks! She added a belt for some sparkle. I also had a cathedral length veil but later my fiancé decided that he wanted to do the tradition where you flip the veil over the head. I asked Sara if she could do something about this and she said "I can do anything." She found some tulle in her shop to match my veil and sewed some lace that I had left over from my dress and added a blusher like no problem at all. She also sewed suspender buttons onto my finance's pants. When my sister was in town for an event before our wedding she broke a strap on her outfit. I called Sara and asked if she could just swing by to get it fixed before she closed up shop and she did. She referred me to Mission Hills Fabric Care Center to get my dress steamed before the big day. When I got there they said she had called ahead to give them specific instructions. Last but not least... ON MY WEDDING DAY! My wedding coordinator couldn't figure out the bustle on my dress that Sara had made and I obviously couldn't help/see since I was wearing it. So I called Sara, ON HER DAY OFF, and she faced timed with us to help us bustle the dress. If you haven't learned from this review thus far, Sara is the best! She has the kindest and sweetest heart and soul and she really loves what she does. She puts her all into her business and takes great care of her clients. I'm so glad I live so close to her shop. Sara works in a tiny hole in the wall 2nd floor shop, but don't judge a book by its cover! She does amazing wedding dress work. She changed the neckline of my wedding dress from straight across to more of a sweet heart neckline. She also lowered the back. This all involved removing and then re-attaching delicate floral lace, and creating a new illusion neckline and new tulle straps (because the old straps were too short after the back was lowered). She hemmed, took in, and bustled the dress as well. It all came to $400 and I could not have been happier with the work. See my pics in her yelp photos. Some people mention that Sara is rude, but she is a gem once you come in person to her store. Generally with all of the vendors I worked with for my wedding, I realized they are all small business owners and very busy. They are all juggling actual operations of their business with customer service, so they may be slow to answer or short over the phone. That does not mean they do not want your business, or that they are bad at their jobs. They are just really busy and you have to have patience and follow up. Sara was great!!! read more

I owe so much to Sara---she saved my wedding dress the WEEK OF my wedding, and just five stars does not do her justice! A little back-story...I initially had my bridal gown alterations done by a woman in Los Angeles. She hemmed my dress well and created a bustle but ignored all of my concerns that the top was too big and that my chest looked flat and was swimming in the cups that the dress came with. She could care less about these issues and assured me that everything was fine. I begged her to change the cups and at the last minute she sewed in some silicone inserts that I had brought to her. Long story short, it was a mess and 4 days before my wedding I was frantically trying to find someone to fix the dress. My husband found Sara, called her and explained the situation. She immediately wanted to help and told us to come in the following morning. The second I put on the dress, Sara noticed several things that were wrong/not altered properly. The top half of the dress was too large and the seams on the lower half stuck out and did not lay properly. She had me try several different bra cup inserts that she had on hand (like a TRUE professional should) and told me to come back the next day!!! When I returned, the dress was PERFECT! It fit me like a glove and I couldn't believe I had overlooked some of the flaws that were present beforehand. I was in awe of Sara and her ability to make major alterations in 24 hours with such incredible skill. She was also very reasonable in her pricing given my emergency situation. This woman is one of the most talented individuals I have ever met, not to mention so incredibly kind and willing to help me with an enormous task in a very short amount of time just 3 days before my wedding. This review could have been a 4 or 5 star review, if it were not for the customer service that I received. I took my curtains to Sara's Tailor Shop to be shortened. It was a quality stitch, but the length was still longer than what I requested. I think she might have been confused as to what part of the curtain to start measuring - a misunderstanding. I'm not too bothered with it. What did bother me was the way she treated me as a customer. When the curtains were dropped off, she did not mention that only cash or check payment would be accepted. This fact was also not indicated on the receipt. When I arrived to pick up my curtains, she requested cash or check (which I did not have). Instead of apologizing for forgetting to mention this, she shrugged her shoulders and said "Oh well, I guess you'll have to come back tomorrow." It was obvious that I was not a valuable customer to her, and she did not care that most people carry only credit cards in the 21st century. When I returned the next day, she sarcastically said "You came back" as if she was not expecting me to come back. Trust me, I won't be going there anymore. read more
