    Mint choc chip single scoop
    Paul F.

Went here for ice cream in the evening. To be honest I have not been a fan of Sara's and its been a long time since I have been here. But I had heard that their ice cream sales had changed since their early beginnings. Initially service seemed to be slow like we were waiting outside the window for an age while the servers were filling orders. No one acknowledged us, but once we were, our orders were filled promptly. I had the mint choc chip and it was delicious. The eating area is really nice although there was no trash immediately in our area had to go find it. Would I go back - oh yeah.

Juicy, delish peaches from SC to VA!!

Best peaches ever. When we visit the area, we make sure to grab some fresh picked peaches from their stand. They are great to eat alone, cobbler, pie, jam, jelly, etc. The staff was extra nice. The grounds and stands were clean and full of produce and other products. We purchased peaches, jams and peach vinegarette. As a treat, we bought some freshly made strawberry soft serve ice cream. Delicious!!! The only thing is there should be products on the products or clearly marked on the blackboard. But they got the prices for us with a smile. The prices are very reasonable. Again, the ice cream won us over. We will return! Highly recommend!

    Ice cream to go!

It is always a treat when I happen to be driving by Sara's. I don't live nearby but sometimes work takes me to the area & I always stop by for some fresh produce or homemade ice cream. I've told my fiancé about it & he has been so butthurt he hasn't gotten to try the famous peach ice cream. I mentioned this to Cade when he was checking me out at the register & he said they could put it on ice for me so it wouldn't completely melt on the way home. After Cade helped me load my pumpkins in my car, he came out with this (pictured). That's not just customer service, it's good ol southern hospitality. Thank you Cade & Sara's!!

Yellow squash, zucchini and red potatoes roasted with garlic. Corn with cilantro and lime, a veggie sandwich

We are on vacation and drove an hour so I could get fresh veg and fruits, totally worth it! I came and immediately made this! The sourdough bread I made, but everything else I got from Sara's! So yummy!

    Softball sized.

What a great stop for some produce. Baskets and baskets of huge peaches. Melons, tomatoes. corn, squash, and ice cream. Restrooms. This place is really pulling people in. A well managed stand with quality products. Picnic tables with umbrellas. This is an oasis on a lightly traveled road. A wonderful rest stop. Looking forward to some delicious peaches. They were out of peach ice cream today. Easy parking.

    Fresh figs $5

Open for summer hours only. They serve homemade ice cream ($3 for 2 scoops) and I highly recommend the peach flavor. In my quest for fresh fruit and vegetables to can, I've been coming to Sara's for a few months now getting more peaches and jams than I can handle. Luckily, the neighbors enjoy peach cobblers so we're in great company. They only sell what they grow so they don't have a selection as big as a Krogers or Publix. They have great beans, corn, okra, peach breads, and jams. They have the hardier vegetables and that's important considering the heat this place sits in. Did I mention the ice cream stand? And the fig tree behind said ice cream stand? Only $5 for a quart of young figs that you pick yourself. I can't say enough nice things about the family that runs this place or the freshness of their produce. Also, they offer a 10% off discount for military and accept credit cards!

We always try to stop at Sara's on our way to and from NC mountains, especially in peach season.

I know I hide my country upbringing well (aside from the accent-it is what it is), but have no…read moredoubt it's still there. I'm talking the kind of country that grew up on homemade biscuits and fried bologna, syrupy sweet tea and banana pudding out the oven, vegetables from the garden or from the jar (but before that, the garden). Yep, rocking chair on the front porch with a fly swatter in one hand and slice of watermelon in the other. So when someone posts a review about the quality of the country cooking here and photos of cornbread and a porkchop, you know I was a bit skeptical. I perused the menu and saw that fried chicken (the true test of country cooking) is only served on Wednesday's. So on a Wednesday I made my maiden voyage to the potential land of newfound love. Like other categories of restaurant/cafe, I have staples with which to test the overall quality. That day; the aforementioned fried chicken, mashed potatoes (or taters if you're from the South), green beans, a square of cornbread, a slice of lemon cake, and a glass of sweet tea. Now before I walk you through my tastebuds visit to heaven let me backup and get you to the front door. Plug the address into GPS. It is tucked away in a corner, hidden behind another restaurant, and sharing a parking lot with yet another restaurant. Like I said, use your GPS. Parking was a challenge at lunch so come early. When you walk in, the line forms to the left hand side and may already be backed up to you. But if it's a first visit, that'll give you time to see everything on the hot bar (written on the glass directly in front of you) and decide on which dessert(s) you want. Those are in the cooler in the middle (ranging from a slice of cake to slice of pie to banana pudding). After ordering you'll continue moving to the right until reaching the register. After paying, drinks are against the right hand wall. I personally recommend finding a seat in the "overflow" section (that's what it looks like to me). You'll find it around the corner, with four person tables awaiting. There are a few outside, with umbrellas, if the weather is right that day. Now back to my food ecstasy trip. I asked one of the team members floating around pouring tea just how sweet it was. She said something about "...cups of sugar" and the rest was a blur. I already knew it would be on point. I shared how I grew up with it leaving a sheen on your lips. She chuckled and stated I should be satisfied then with theirs. And I was. I had to slow myself down due to the knowledge too much before eating will leave you feeling nauseous. My lunch arrived, but it did not rest upon my plate long. I sampled the sides and cornbread then went straight for the wing. The chicken breast soon followed. I came up for air just long enough to get a refill of tea before intaking the lemon cake. The balance of sweet and tart, the airyness of the icing, and the moisture of the cake were all pure perfection. I debted going back for a slice of the strawberry, but already felt a food nap approaching. I am heartbroken that this was my first visit (as it has been around since 2017), but my wounds shall be healed with the application of more (and more) amazing food. Stop by today! Or at least the day they serve a item you really love. And don't forget dessert! Sidenote: With the fried chicken, you can choose between light or dark meat.

Food was good. Served quickly and everyone is super nice. Limited seating. Its not fancy but good…read morediner food.

If you don't want to go to Evans, there is one on Broad St. across from the Kroc Center. I usually park there, it's after 5:30 and skip across the grass. Remember to bring some reusable bags to get your stuff! Meanwhile, I tried that "green store that takes much of your paycheck" and found it to be seriously disappointing! I mean let's get serious here... level 1 meats are about the same as any other grocery and NOT why I'd pay so much more. I was so excited to find this website locallygrown.net which has locations all over (so I'm totally saving it in case I move again). The "store" opens online on Friday with how much of what is available from real local farms and artisans. You scoop up the goodies and pay to make sure you get that last share of jalapeños... then pick it all up on Tuesday night. They have veg, fruit, all kinds of meats, dairy, flowers, herbs, candles, soaps, baked goods... etc. Go, have a look! You can chose from grass fed, organic, pasture raised... all of the things I adore. I found the size of share and freshness to be very good. Make sure you check everything and don't leave without some greens... like I did. Everything seems to last so much longer because it's fresh! I wish I had found this years ago...

Orders are placed every Friday at noon thru Sunday at 8pm. Buyers have two locations in Augusta to pick up - Evans Town Center or West End bakery in the old Harrisburg community of Augusta. We haven't really been to a grocery store since beginning with ALG back in June. We order fresh milk, pasture raised eggs; grass fed beef and pork; vegetables galore from farmers who have now become acquainted with me. I support the local farmers, eat well and all at a modest cost. Once you start with ALG you'll always wonder why you spent your hard earned money at the chain stores. Buyers also get to know their farmers and the farmers are always eager to answer your questions about how they farm organic, etc. I buy all of my meats for the month and re-stock the milk, eggs and veggies weekly. Always something great to prepare for meals!
