Homemade spaghetti and meatballs with housemaid garlic toast. A very nice dinner tonight.
James D.

My Family is new to the area. This part of southeastern Wisconsin has a lot of dining choices. Today is August 26, it is very hot outside right now. I myself was looking forward to pasta salad. My middle daughter had off from work today and asked if we could go out. I have been hungry for a really good spaghetti dinner for sometime. There are a number of good Italian restaurants in this area. I had a spaghetti I can tell you it was outstanding. You can just tell when the sauce is made from scratch, the meatballs were handmade, and of course the garlic toast was cut from whole Italian loaf. And in addition to that it was very reasonably priced. The mom and pop is located right on Layton Avenue near the airport. I highly recommend. Our waitress was a very nice lady, very attentive. Even though it was warm outside, my daughter and I decided to try the chicken dumpling soup (we try the chicken dumpling everywhere we find it) it was very hearty and not too salty. We live not too far away from here, and definitely will be back. Kind of a hidden gem as it's in a strip mall, but definitely worth the stab. Cheers!

Daily specials and a great place for good tasting food with excellent service.

Always friendly and prompt to take carry out orders. Thoroughly enjoy homemade mashed potatoes, French fries, fish fry, and more. Delicious hot fresh food homemade and comfort food for my heart Tough to choose what to order as the variety is immense. I haven't been disappointed with any Down Home dinner . Sandwiches are great and enough for more than one meal or shareable. Coleslaw is great too.

Snapshot direct from their own website. They don't honor their own coupon.

They don't honor the prices on their website. I called in and ordered the 16" thin crust pizza with 3 toppings & 8 wings for $18.95. I also add an order of breaded mushrooms. The order taker came back with a total over $29. I repeated my coupon price of $18.95 and asked if the mushrooms were $10. The order taker said no the pizza and wings are $20.95. I then asked for a manager or owner. Received an answer of sorry they aren't here. Then I asked for the manager on duty. Sorry manager is not here. I asked for the person in charge. We don't have one. I asked why don't you honor your prices on your own website? I don't know. My last question was do you think you should honor your website price. The order taker responded with a Yes. I said cancel my order and hung up. I used to like this place because it isn't a chain and I try to support local business owners as much as possible but I will recommend to anyone thinking about trying this place to try Pietro's on KK or Pizza Hut in Bayview. You will receive better service and pizza plus they won't lie to about their prices. This place has lost my business and I hope you do the same.

The fish fry at $8.95 is exceptional and is a reason to dine here. Crispy beer bettered cod, choice of potato, soup choice and bread. They have an option for coleslaw. The dinner bread is great, or you can have garlic bread, which is great as well.

It was nice inside, there was plenty of bar seating and a handful of tables inside with a large outdoor space. The wood fire pizza looked good but tasted phenomenal! The garlic butter crust had a satisfying crunch and the combo of flavors on both pizzas had me speechless. I will definitely be back!

The space is nice and while it took me a second to figure out what I was doing, I got the hang of it. This sandwich was so amazing. The flavors were bursting with that goat cheese bread and the cheesy steak. It was definitely messy but thankfully I had fries to go with my sandwich. I let the filling for the sandwich that fell out go right on those fries and BOOM! a second meal of smothered fries. Chef suggested some finely sliced pepperoncini and wow.. that really brought a different dimension to the sandwich. I will be coming back to get this again before it leaves the menu. The Garlic Butter wings were also so amazing. The flavors really melded well together with the smoked wings and the garlic butter. I could eat a dozen of these easily. I need to get back and try their pizza now. I will be keeping an eye on where their food truck lands this summer as well!

Quickly seated for our reservation and had prompt service throughout our dining. The extensive wine/cocktail/mocktail list was well crafted and refreshing. And last but not least, the food was phenomenal. Splitting pizzas and pasta dishes amongst the table was a perfect way to sample multiple items. Pizza crust and ingredients were very fresh and happy sitting in the palette! Thank you Santino's!!

When you arrive, there is a bar with a seating area. There is also another seating area with a separate bar, which is where we sat. What I noticed first is that there are TVs set up throughout the restaurant playing Moonstruck, the 1987 movie with Cher and Nicolas Cage. It runs continuously, and I think without sound. I didn't have a direct line of sight, but I did notice it a few times throughout the evening. It's a quirky thing, and I like it. The inside is dimly lit, but bright enough to read menus and make out all the essentials. The lighting on the bars is a rich red, and it really sets off those areas. The walls are adorned with photos of iconic Italian female movie stars like Sophia Loren. I liked the classic vibe. The place was very loud. We were seated right away and settled in with waters, drinks, and menus. Our server did a nice job walking us through the menu details. It's mostly specialty pizzas, with a few appetizers, salads, and a couple of entrees. For drinks, there were a couple of Santino Sangrias, which were unique in that they included gin, a nice touch. There was also a Paper Plane Martini, which was very good too. I mentioned before that it was loud, and it was especially loud with a large group behind us. It got much better when they cleared out. I noticed that they have sound absorbing materials on some of the walls, which probably helps, just not enough. For dinner, we started off with a couple of Caesar salads. They were a good portion and easily shared by two. The dressing was fresh and the right amount. It was a great start to the meal. I would have liked to try the calamari, but nobody else was interested, maybe next time. There were three pizzas at the table, Margherita, Paisan, and a make your own with cheese, sausage, mushroom, and onion. I decided to be different and tried the Gigante Meatball Plate. The pizzas are Neapolitan, with bubbly, charred edges. All of them had excellent presentation and flavor. Neapolitans are not known for their sturdy centers, so you have to hold on tight to keep everything from sliding off. As expected, the meatball was very large. It's served with penne pasta, which was okay, though I would have preferred spaghetti. The sauce and cheese had good flavor. A solid entree, though not amazing. We were celebrating a birthday, so we saved room for a few shared desserts. We tried the flourless cake, tiramisu, and the chocolate hazelnut gelato. They were all good choices, satisfying, but again, not amazing. Lots to like about this place. Nice atmosphere, great service (thanks Tommy), and an excellent selection of pizzas. Would come back again, and this time order one of the specialty pizzas (Da Vinci).
