Kid Friendly!!!
I want to give this place 5 stars, but I can't. I should give this place 3 stars, but I can't. My wife said the bathrooms were dirty, like "a bunch of frat boys had been using them"; not good. But despite that issue, we came back to this place every night we stayed in Bath.
The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming and the food is amazing. The place makes you feel like you're in a cozy, warm, relaxing pub during a cold night. You're surrounded by wood and soft warm lighting that puts you at ease and makes you feel calm and relaxed. Although you may be sitting within feet of people at another table, you still feel like you're in your own little cozy corner. After a day of walking the area in the crowds, this is a great place to sit and have a pint and some food. Even our 4 year old daughter, while walking around, would ask us if we could come back here for dinner.
The Vintage Mac and Cheese is AMAZING! (Add the garlic bread!). Their chicken sandwiches, also amazing. We were so shocked and pleased with all the food we got here. As for drinks, if you're looking for cocktails, stick to the menu cocktails when you come here.
Basically, if you're looking for fine dining, this isn't your spot. If you're looking to use the bathroom, this isn't your spot. But if you're looking to have a beer or cider and some great food in a place that has the classic, warm, comfy pub feel, then this is your spot.
Because of the cleanliness issues in the bathrooms every time we went there (and we checked every time to see if it was a one time issue or a common problem, they were dirty every time), I can't give it 5 stars, and I should probably give it 3 stars. But my wife, daughter and I loved this place so much, I have to give it at least 4 stars. If they could just get on top of making sure those bathrooms were clean, this place would be a must stop for any situation.
Also, I've seen people complain in reviews that they ordered a Cask Ale and when they got it, it was warm. If you've never had a Cask Ale before, they are served at room temperature and are much more flat than a normal beer. So if you're trying a Cask Ale for your first time, be prepared. I've found that you either like Cask Ales or you don't. read more
