It was nice to see that this pub is still going strong. I used to frequent here years ago, so it has happy memories for me. I did not know until know that it is steeped in history. Possibly the oldest pub in Bath, the Saracen's Head was built in 1713 on the site of an earlier inn. It was a minor coaching inn: the stables were in what is now the dining area and you can still see some of the original windows. Charles Dickens stayed in the Saracen's Head during one of his visits to Bath

On our first day visiting Bath and attempting to find somewhere for dinner, we quickly realized every non-pub requires reservations. We opted for Saracens as it was a bit quieter (at least in the front half away from the screens). Our table by the window was very good. Venue is warm and muggy, and table was pretty sticky from spilled drinks (filled riiigjt to the top!). Order from the bar, and service from there was great. Friendly staff and helped us pick their favorites off the menu. I tried the rump steak and ale pie which came with chips or mash, peas, and cauliflower. My friend ordered the nachos and bbq chicken wings. The steak pie was five star. Plus a dry cider on tap. Loved it! Veg on the side was bland, but who eats veg in a pub anyhow. My friends nachos were good but needed more cheese. And they're very different from pub nachos in Canada (minimal melted white cheese, good thick crisps, tons of sour cream and guacamole). She liked the nachos (ate the parts with cheese) and said the wings were her favorite. Overall I really liked this spot! My friend isn't so into pubs but still had a good time in the end.

A nice classic pub and classic feel. Beer and food was good. Staff was helpful. If you like pubs, it's nice to visit the oldest pub in Bath.

We went with low expectations and primarily because we were told that Charles Dickens used to frequent the pub. Our group ordered the cod and chips as well as meat pies. Everything was delicious!! The fish and chips was the best we've had since being in England for a week. Fun ambiance for a pub-we watched a dart championship while we were there. The cider we ordered was good quality and best of all our utensils and glasses were all clean (we've had issues in other pubs). If we ever find ourselves in Bath again, we will definitely go back!

Run of the mill, chain pub - very clean very modern. Not much to say, OK to call in for quick pint but would not stay there for evening.

They have several local ales on tap and some "Real Ale" cask conditioned for a traditional experience. Sadly, there was no roast beef when we arrived so we'll have to wait for the classic Sunday roast. Steak and ale pie, and a butternut squash pie were good substitutes. This is a popular spot, especially for outdoor seating. We sat inside in a cozy dining room but if the weather is dry outdoors is a nice option. Found this spot from Rick Steves's travel book...and a great pick! Just on the outskirts of…read morecentral Bath, this delightful classic British pub has lovely interior with whimsical decor yet classy at the same time. Service was a confusing at first, but was just swell once we were seated...the leftside is a side is a traditional sit down restaurant service, the right side is a classic pub style where you order everything at the bar, and the expansive outside patio is self service as well, a completely taken over by smokers and vapers like every other European patio. £20 FISH & CHIPS! The fresh beer battered haddock was thick and crispy on the outside, and moist and tender on the inside, perfection!, The chips were pleasant enough, though crushed minted peas were just okay...maybe because they day prior I had some incredible mushy mint peas at another pub. Still a great plate overall! £20 SHORTCRUST PIES...wife went with the Chicken, Leek, and Herb...wonderfully rich and savory, with flavorful scent and warm, buttery pie crust. Lovely! Also came with seared greens, braised red cabbage, buttery mash potatoes, and rich decadent red wine gravy. £7.5 STICKY TOFFEE PUDDING...gooey, sweet, sticky, buttery, and fantastically wonderful!
