Hubby and I finally got to try Saperavi for brunch! While they had the typical brunch with egg dishes, we opted for more of the typical Georgian dishes. We ordered the traditional khachapuri with the cheese and egg yolk, followed by the Georgian salad with tomatoes, cucumbers and herbs, and 2 orders of the dumplings khinkali, both in meat and the spinach cheese. We definitely felt the heaviness of the cheese lunch. The service was extremely attentive, our server George knew a lot about the dishes and had great recommendations. He was always checking in on us and made sure we were comfortable (especially with our baby!) Overall really great hospitality and service. Food was good but definitely heavy. Perfect way to warm up in the winter.

A new Georgian spot in the UES! We really enjoyed the Georgian classic Khachapuri here; comes in a big shareable portion as a great option for an appetizer. They have a cute outdoor seating area; since it was filled we sat inside, which also had a nice vibe. The Napoleon cake was a favorite for my party. Very sweet but also quite light!

It's a lovely place! we came here after watching a movie at the Angelica. We ordered the khubedari which they don't have at the moment but they will have from tomorrow onwards. They are updating the menu as well. The server was very friendly and helpful. We asked for wine recommendations and he gave us good ones. definitely ask him for his recommended wine choices. The places rather on the small side, they have about 10 tables proceeding two people tables, but they also have a bar where you can sit. The food was extremely delicious and authentic and I would definitely come back here. The prices are very good as well.

I was invited to dinner tonight at Saperavi in UES by my doctor who is also one of my favorite BFFs. Neither of us had eaten at a Georgian restaurant before and we were both pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and wine, the good sized portions and reasonably priced dining. The staff was very friendly and very attentive. Our waiter - George was spectacular and we came away feeling absolutely delighted !! We were seated outside and the decor and location was amazing - not forgetting to mention that the weather was perfect !!

Just came back from dinner here and it was delicious! My friend got the khachapuri and I got the chicken skewers and everything was delicious. Welcome to the neighorhood, because we are in dire need of good food in the UES and Saperavi is helping remedy that issue! I felt a little boring ordering the chicken skewer, but was feeling something lighter and now I wish I ordered the rest of the menu bc it was so delicious. The chicken was cooked extremely tenderly, warm, and the sauce had a nice gentle heat to it. The onions crisp and fresh, the potatoes and broccoli that accompanied it roasted to a perfect texture. Simple but delicious. The khachapuri was also very solid, and while not my first time enjoying it, could tell it was really great quality. Great job, Saperavi!! Wishing you all the success :)

I slip into Saperavi on a cool New York evening, the kind where the city hums a little softer and the glow of a wine bar feels like a small, necessary refuge. The moment I step inside, I'm wrapped in a warmth, an atmosphere shaped by deep tradition, generous hospitality, and the unmistakable soul of Georgian cooking. I take my seat at a wooden table, the kind that invites lingering, conversation, and slow enjoyment. A bottle of Georgian wine catches the light--Château Mukhrani, its pale gold shimmering in the glass. Georgian wine has a way of grounding me; maybe it's the knowledge that this is the birthplace of winemaking, a tradition stretching back over 8,000 years. Maybe it's the depth, the earthiness, the quiet confidence of a culture that has always known how to gather people around a table. Whatever it is, that first sip feels like a gentle invitation to settle deeper into the moment. What always strikes me about Georgian cuisine is how deeply it carries the imprint of history. As I take another sip, I'm reminded that Georgia has never been a quiet or isolated place--it has always been a crossroads. For centuries, the Silk Road cut straight through this small but mighty country, carrying spices, travelers, merchants, and ideas across continents. You can taste that legacy in every dish: the brightness of tarragon, the warmth of garlic, the unexpected notes of pomegranate, the way herbs and textures mingle with centuries of exchange. Even the wines feel touched by that lineage--qvevri buried in the earth, techniques passed down through generations, shaped by a culture that learned to welcome the world while fiercely protecting its own identity. The dishes arrive one by one, each carrying the soul of a country that cooks with memory. I start with the Georgian salad--simple, bright, and honest. It tastes like something made at home but elevated by the hands of someone who knows exactly how far to push tradition without losing its heart. Then the khachapuri, warm and fragrant, its molten cheese pulling apart in ribbons. It's comfort in its purest form, the kind of dish that makes conversation slow down and smiles linger. Khinkali follows--plump, pleated dumplings that feel almost ceremonial. I hold one by the top knot, take that first careful bite, and let the broth spill onto my tongue. It's savory, peppery, and deeply satisfying. Around me, the bar glows with red light, bottles lining the shelves like jewels. There's laughter somewhere behind me, the clink of glasses, the soft murmur of a place that knows how to host. As I taste my way through the menu--shkmeruli with its creamy garlic warmth, chakapuli bright with tarragon and white wine--I feel the rhythm of Georgian cooking: bold yet balanced, rustic yet refined. The restaurant doesn't try to reinvent Georgia--it simply brings it here, intact, generous, and alive. Saperavi isn't just a meal; it's a journey, a memory, a warm embrace.

HOLY AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! I was floored with everything about this place. The service, the ambiance, the drinks and THE FOOD!!!! Never have I felt such a need to go back to a place before when I don't live in the city!!!!! Also as someone who doesn't know Georgian food, they explained Everything TO ME!!!! So nice

My husband and I love Saperavi! The food is delicious and they serve generous portions. For me, the standout dish is the eggplant salad. It's so unique and incredibly filling. I also love the mushroom and onion dish. The service is polite and prompt. Pretty decor, spacious back room. We've already been twice and we're excited to go back again!

Started with their Georgian-style spritz -- light, refreshing, and full of flavor. It was the perfect drink to ease into the evening and set the mood for everything that followed. Next came the Khachapuri, a warm, cheesy bread that's one of Georgia's most popular dishes. The crust was soft and golden, and the cheese inside was rich, gooey, and perfectly melted. Every bite was pure comfort. Then came the Khinkali, Georgia's signature dumplings. I had one filled with seasoned meat and another with cheese, both perfectly shaped and full of flavor. The texture and warmth made them the ultimate cozy dish. To finish, I had a layered honey cake that was light, creamy, and delicately sweet -- the perfect way to wrap up the meal.

I live around the corner and am so happy to see a restaurant in this space thriving. Finally came recently with a friend and sat at the bar where Giga (sp?) was so kind and helpful and explained the different dishes and the best way dig in to each. My aunt has always made khachapuri so I was only familiar with one type but learned that all of the cheese breads on the menu were khachapuri but each type was named for the region and how they are made in each. We tried two different the adjaruli and the imeruli (the type my aunt makes). Both were great. We also got the dumplings and some Georgian wine. Everything was amazing and the service was fabulous. Will definitely be back often. I will say I think the best experience to try these dishes is in person rather than takeout. I did order takeout of the imeruli one night after as well.

Always greeted with a warm welcome -- and the food is magnificent/ comforting. The wine is worth the trip alone !!! George is the consummate professional going above and beyond to ensure a wonderful experience from beginning to end. It is so beautifully decorated too. I am so glad they are my neighbor.

This place is a great addition to the UES. Super friendly staff and they were able to give recommendations on what to get.
