Amazing Georgian resto! Came here on a late night for dinner and ordered beef kachapuri, adjaruli, kupati, and chicken tabaka with garlic sauce. Thought the adjaruli was delicious! It was seasoned really well, done better than some other Georgian spots I've tried. The garlic sauce in the chicken tabaka was so so good and made the chicken more juicy. The mashed potatoes in the kupati were super cheesy, which was unexpected but I love cheese so all good. Overall, great hearty meal for the wintertime! Hubby and I finally got to try Saperavi for brunch! While they had the typical brunch with egg dishes, we opted for more of the typical Georgian dishes. We ordered the traditional khachapuri with the cheese and egg yolk, followed by the Georgian salad with tomatoes, cucumbers and herbs, and 2 orders of the dumplings khinkali, both in meat and the spinach cheese. We definitely felt the heaviness of the cheese lunch. The service was extremely attentive, our server George knew a lot about the dishes and had great recommendations. He was always checking in on us and made sure we were comfortable (especially with our baby!) Overall really great hospitality and service. Food was good but definitely heavy. It's a lovely place! we came here after watching a movie at the Angelica. We ordered the khubedari which they don't have at the moment but they will have from tomorrow onwards. They are updating the menu as well. The server was very friendly and helpful. We asked for wine recommendations and he gave us good ones. definitely ask him for his recommended wine choices. The places rather on the small side, they have about 10 tables proceeding two people tables, but they also have a bar where you can sit. The food was extremely delicious and authentic and I would definitely come back here. The prices are very good as well. read more

Neither of us had eaten at a Georgian restaurant before and we were both pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and wine, the good sized portions and reasonably priced dining. Just came back from dinner here and it was delicious! My friend got the khachapuri and I got the chicken skewers and everything was delicious. Welcome to the neighorhood, because we are in dire need of good food in the UES and Saperavi is helping remedy that issue! I felt a little boring ordering the chicken skewer, but was feeling something lighter and now I wish I ordered the rest of the menu bc it was so delicious. The chicken was cooked extremely tenderly, warm, and the sauce had a nice gentle heat to it. The onions crisp and fresh, the potatoes and broccoli that accompanied it roasted to a perfect texture. Simple but delicious. The khachapuri was also very solid, and while not my first time enjoying it, could tell it was really great quality. Great job, Saperavi!! This restaurant is pretty good, but my problem with them is that they charge the tip on the Taxes without telling you. Tip is not to be charged on Taxes! It happened to me twice and I will not go there any more. We were a party of 6. We paid $20 for drinks and $5 for a glass of Sprite. Most of the food we ordered was good. But the Spicy ribs were overcooked and tasted awful. Total bill was over $500! And we did not drink more than one drink per person. The service was very good. read more

I live around the corner and am so happy to see a restaurant in this space thriving. Finally came recently with a friend and sat at the bar where Giga (sp?) was so kind and helpful and explained the different dishes and the best way dig in to each. My aunt has always made khachapuri so I was only familiar with one type but learned that all of the cheese breads on the menu were khachapuri but each type was named for the region and how they are made in each. We tried two different the adjaruli and the imeruli (the type my aunt makes). Both were great. We also got the dumplings and some Georgian wine. Everything was amazing and the service was fabulous. Will definitely be back often. I will say I think the best experience to try these dishes is in person rather than takeout. I did order takeout of the imeruli one night after as well. read more

Seems like they are novices in cooking overall- the food is quite plain on ingredients, not well balanced in flavor (like the baked "pizza" bread was way way way too much cheese, not enough bread and other toppings that were supposed to be included), and many options were too small in portions for the price. Some of the sides were ridiculous, like the side of mashed potatoes was literally one medium sized potato mashed up and spread on a plate with parsley on top. Fantastic experience at Saperavi UES! Before we even ordered, the service was fantastic. We went there this prior Friday afternoon. The bartender Gyorgy (and I may be misspelling his name) was very attentive, patiently answered all of our questions about Georgian wine (Georgia apparently has the world's oldest wine industry that goes back about 8000 years) and guided us through the menu. The service was at this level for the entirety of the meal. The food and wine were also both excellent! There are plenty of vegetarian options on the menu, and the vegetarian and vegan options are clearly marked. A fantastic place. We will likely be returning this upcoming Saturday. Highly recommended. Just had Sunday lunch with my husband and two adult kids, and we all loved this restaurant. The place is comfortable, spacious, and pretty. The staff couldn't be nicer! But of course, it's the food that will keep us coming back! We started with the beef Khinkali which was better than the best soup dumpling you've ever had. Next was the adjaruli that everyone talks about. A little rich for me but delicious. My kids flipped over it. The Chicken Shkmeruli melts in your mouth. Chicken Tabaka another winner! Crispy but not dry with an unusual, delicate sauce, lighter than the Shkmeruli. Try both. :) The Chashushuli, a traditional veal stew was also wonderful, tomato based and served with fresh bread. The big surprise was the Penovani Lobiani! A flakey pastry square stuffed with a smoky bean puree and topped with assorted pickled vegetables. The combination of flavors was so delicious. My daughter had a glass of their special wine. I'm not a drinker, but she loved it. We were too full for dessert. Unfortunately, there were no leftovers! We'll be back! read more
