Moved to SA 6 months ago and have been going to different places around our house to haunt down the best salon for my monthly pedicure. I'm usually a pretty easy going person and I just want a good relaxing pedicure with some colors on my nails. In my 20+ years of salon visiting, I've only had salons I've liked better but never disliked... With that being said, unfortunately, I ran into some salons here that became a never again experience for me. I will NOT go to them ever even if they pay for it. Yes, it was THAT bad. So I am going to stick with Sapa nails. My past 2 or 3 visits had been awesome and my technician Han has got superb mannerism and skills. I have really dry skin and my feet were really bad, but I still want to voice my concern. When the lady was taking off my dead skin she went a little too deep and my foot started bleeding. She stopped the bleeding and applied Neosporin, so that helped but I still feel pain and discomfort when I walk. I didn't want to say anything while I was there and I still tipped her more than 15%, but my friend persuaded me to say something. The space is very clean, the staff is extremely friendly, and they have a huge variety of nail products to choose from. Less than a week after my last gel manicure service, I noticed two of my nails were peeling off. This was weird since it had never happened any other time I got a manicure there. I went in to the shop the next day and one of the managers personally removed the polish and did my entire manicure over. He didn't need to reshape my nails or clean the cuticles since all I wanted was a polish change but he went above and beyond to make sure my nails looked fantastic and didn't charge me anything. I didn't get the best experience a few months ago and just figured that maybe it was a bad nail tech and I would give this place another shot. Well I'm convinced that this place has bad service all around. I asked the lady to cut my nails really short and she told me that she would shape them short later, she didn't. She put 6 layers of dip powder on, I asked her to keep the layers thin, she didn't. She was doing them in a rush and didn't take the time to clean up around the nail or separate the glued powder from my skin. I have a trip to NY tomorrow morning and now I have colored blocks on my nails that I will have to redo. Save your time and money and go somewhere where they pay attention to detail, listen to how YOU want your nails done and do a great job of workmanship. I have been going to SAPA nails for the past 5 years. I get acrylic nails and pedicures. They have always done a good job. They are friendly and they offer wine / water / soft drinks while getting your pedicure. I think their prices are on par with other salons. I tried a couple of places when I moved to that side of town and I liked SAPA nails the best so I have stayed with them. I usually see David or Andy and they are both great. They do take walk-in's, but I usually try to call the day before for an appointment since I am usually on a tight schedule. read more

I went in on my birthday for a pedicure, Saturday March 12. I just wanted black French tip. The lady who did my pedicure was not only rough with taking off my polish (her metal drill bit kept hitting my skin), she used a brush to scrub my feet that literally felt like steel whool especially since my toes were already sensitive from the heavy drilling. The way she cut my ingrown nails was rough also, and after I told her my toe felt weird after whatever the hell she was doing (I've never had my ingrowns removed like that before) she gave me attitude like I didn't know what I was talking about. I myself am not only disappointed ( speaking as a licensed cosmetologist who also works in a nail salon!!) with the lack of customer service, but also this very flooded, uneven polish job. Used to love this place. Not sure what happened. I went in to have my shellac french manicure polish fixed because I chipped a nail. I somehow got talked into a full manicure (instead of just a nail polish change) even though I had one a week before. I understand that they were busy but the man who did my nails only did 1 layer of shellac on my French tips and they ended up cracking & looking horrible after 1 day. Plus the hand massage couldn't have lasted more than a minute a hand. Definitely not worth the $40 I paid. The pictures are only 3 days after I got them done. Terrible place. My mom took me for a pedicure for my birthday and the guy doing her feet watched TV and hardly massaged them. It was basically 3 min of him just holding her foot while he watched tv. We were blown away at how little he cared. I sat and waited for a pedicure in the chair for 15 min. (For no reason, at that. They were not busy AT ALL) Then, when the girl started my pedi, instead of letting me relax and propping my foot on her leg or the foot rest, she asked me to hold my foot up at her eye level so she could work on them. Talk about a quad work out. It totally ruined any relaxing I was supposed to be enjoying. I came home with the bottom of my big toe sliced so deep it hurt to walk. I came in 40 minutes before closing for a color change and a refill for acrylics. They spent maybe 5 minutes total on my toes (ok fine it's just a color change) and 20 minutes max on my refill. I could tell that the lady that was helping me was in a hurry to get off. She payed no attention to detail, as all of my nails were different lengths and shapes. She was going so fast and aggressive that the buffing hurt my skin and to top it off she skipped cuticle cream. I was just testing this place out as I thought the prices were better than my normal salon. They were not.... so I guess it's back to my normal salon where they take their time no matter how close to closing! To be fair, this place is great if you are in a rush and want to be in-and-out. I walked in an that lady was not friendly at all she was so rude and ugly and was telling me to come back the next day. I waited for a day to pass and went back in. The first time I was here a guy did my put shellac on my real nails and they looked nice and lasted 6 weeks. A lady put shellac on my toes and they looked so so, and it came off after two weeks. I went back and the same lady did my toes and nails. They're lumpy and all different lengths and shapes. She was also rough. I complained about the shape and she "fixed" them. My toes look like a kid rushed through it. It's a glitter polish and you need more coats or a red base coat under the glitter which she did not do. $30 for the pedicure plus $20 for shellac= $50. $5/toe for a half ass job.
