There was a washer connection that was already there. Roldan came to see the scope of work, we agreed on a price and a few days later, he sent his workers. His workers did not know what they were doing, they made a hole in the drywall to accommodate the washer's two pipes. When I stopped them, and contacted Roldan, he refused to come and see the shoddy work, stating he was out of town. His workers kept running the garbage disposal without first letting the water run. They placed three outlets with neutral wires attached to the positive wire, resulting in 240 voltage. Luckily, a family member noticed the high voltage and an electrician was called to rectify this fatal error. If I could give him zero stars, I would.

We've worked with Sergio at Lima Handyman several times now--first for exterior repair and painting…read moreon trim, then painting a deck, and then a set of odd-jobs that included gutter cleaning and re-routing gutter outlets under landscaping elements, and replacing the furnace flue. (We hadn't realized that last bit was a thing until our HVAC inspector warned us about how when that rusts out, rainfall can compromise your heating system, which apparently is not a good thing!) Sergio has been great to work with--he has double-checked with us to make sure he and we all agree what the task is that he'll do, he's been very clear in his estimates, and he has explained clearly how he'll approach a job. He has taught us a lot about the options available, helped us understand the pros and cons of various approaches, and helped troubleshoot the tasks we had already flagged for him as well as flagging other areas of home maintenance he sees need attention at our house. He has never been pushy about adding those additional tasks to a work request--he hasn't had to be, because he has a good eye for things that need fixing and is able to explain clearly how he can do something simply that we thought would be a lot more complicated. He is efficient in his work, takes pride in doing solid and beautiful work, and goes out of his way to make sure we are confident that the jobs are done well. His estimates are accurate and are a great value. He really knows his stuff--not just the ins-and-outs of handyman tasks, but also the in-and-outs of customer service and planning work. For instance, after the deck painting, we wanted to match the paint color and realized that we hadn't written it down... I mentioned it to Sergio and he said he had written it down because he knows many customers will need that kind of information from him at some point. It's so logical to hear it that way, but it's just one thing that he knows to do as a matter of course to make his customers' lives easier. We definitely recommend Lima Handyman and have a few more tasks we look forward to having Sergio help us with, too!

Lazy work. We hired…read moreJose Arias of Bries to re-gravel our driveway and build a stone border around the adjacent flower bed. They cut corners in just about every way imaginable. We came home to discover they built the flower bed about 6 feet too short, ending in the middle of the parking space. But wasn't a misunderstanding; the flower bed already existed, and they were just putting a border around it. They literally ripped out two fully grown rose bushes and replanted them between our other shrubs to shrink the size of the flower bed and the amount of work they had to do. The roses are now dying. Meanwhile, the big project--regraveling the driveway--was barely done at all. They literally just washed the very sparse existing gravel and put it back down, with big patches of dirt. We complained, and Jose came back--and half-assed the job again. He put down a very small amount of new gravel--not nearly enough to cover the bare patches of the driveway--and extended the flower bed edging, but squared it off at the edge rather than follow the curve of the bed. The dying roses remained where they replanted them. Even after this second attempt, there are still weeds and still patches of bare gravel. It's clear Jose Arias is not going to do this job in any satisfactory manner. He already has my money but the least I can do is warn others not use this lazy, cut-corners, apathetic contractor.

Jose installed an ill-fitting toilet seat (even with the toilet brand given to him) and the chipped bathtub was painted in a color not matching the rest of the bathtub. In addition, Jose quoted extremely overpriced services as "deals" (other contractors quotes were far, far less). Jose also re-grouted the shower and stated it would not need to be grouted for at least another year. Four weeks later, Jose was contacted as the grout was starting to come off; however, Jose did not follow up to the messages. Due to this experience, I cannot recommend Jose Arias, and I would advise looking elsewhere for reliable and professional contractors who value customer satisfaction and stand by their work.

The work was accomplished but it had the worst detailing. No sense of professionalism or care for details. The contractor sub-contracted other people (the supposed carpenters). Please double check their job accomplishment. We paid to paint the doors and frames Burt they only painted the frames on the outside not the inside and not the doors. We paid for two coats of paint but they only painted once. We requested a water leak in the toilet to be fixed and they changed some parts but the leak is still present. We were especially grateful for the assistance in considering colors for each room, and the recommendations on where we needed to make some repairs that were not immediately obvious to us, as we had just moved into the house. One seldom spends much time focusing on their ceilings, but when pointed out cracks and other imperfections, it underscores the extreme value in having someone experienced guiding you in this process. To say that the whole team were perfectionists is not an understatement, because the attention to detail, from the planning leading up to the job, to covering and protecting surfaces and furniture, to the execution of the work, all care was taken to produce the amazing results we now have. In addition to the painting of our entire home, X-Clusive remodeled an entertainment room, removing carpeting, installing new flooring, repairing walls and ceiling and making it a wonderful space that before had bordered on a storage room. We had some minor things that needed to be addressed as work was progressing (e.g. replacing a light switch with a dimmer switch) and some hauling of unwanted furniture. Without hesitation these requests were met with a smile and a can-do response.
