Oh boy. You guys should be thanking me for these whole 5 stars. The food is lovely. I'll give you that. I got an empanada and it brought me back to my Cuban roots. HOWEVER. The service truly needs to be retrained. I apologize but when I ask for a sour cream it means I want it now, not in 10 minutes. By the time the staff returns, my whole quesadilla will be gone, yet you will still charge me $1 for it. Crazy I won't lie. The staff genuiwnly will not check on their tables for 2-3 business days, so visitors please take that into account. The chefs back there deserve a big kiss but I do not love the attitude and lack of service from the waiters/waitresses. Again, when I ask for a water after finally finding you, it means I want it now. Not in 10 minutes. I'm sorry to be harsh. I hate bringing out my dark side. But I spend hours in this God forsaken place because the staff does not check on their tables. Mind you, please get an AC system- you are doing a disservice to your customers. Other than that, I adore your tacos especially the Baja ones because wow those have a nice little tang to them. Brings me back to Cuba. Last week, my family and I decided to come to Santa Fe for the first time in a few years. We've always liked the food and service, and it's safe to say that we still do! They have a good selection of refreshing cocktails and delicious food! I highly recommend getting their guacamole and the Santa Fe chicken and shrimp entree. The entree comes with a whole chicken breast, 4 shrimp, rice, beans, tortillas, pico, avocados, and two mini quesadillas all for $19! Stopping in for a meal with coworkers and my boyfriend we had heard good things about this place. Their drinks and food are a draw for the general public along with the University of Delaware student population. We stopped in during on a summer Saturday with the school out of session we weren't anticipating a busy day at the restaurant and got sat pretty quickly. We opted to sit inside as it was a hot summer day outside though it didn't help much to be inside as it seemed that the AC in the restaurant wasn't operating well. Throughout our meal we got progressively hotter as the heat came through the restaurant. We opted for some drinks and a meal to catch up on the hustle and bustle of our lives. We started the meal off well being introduced to our waitress who were actually training another staff member. We opted for a round of waters while we preview the menu for food and drinks. Sadly after getting our waters the service slowly slipped as it seemed that they were getting impatient with us not know what we wanted to order and drink. With the restaurant not busy or packed at all there was no need to rush us along. We finally ordered some margaritas from the menu, a cheese dip for the table and meals for each of us. Definitely not a bad tab for us four and the tip that you would assume to come along with it. While the crab nachos were something to be desired being served on a plastic plate that you would find at a beach stand and the cheese all but melted and hard being under the heater for so long. We took most of it and tried to salvage it with things in my refrigerator. My coworker's chicken chimichanga was better with beans and rice inside along with a sauce that didn't make it too dry when eating the shredded chicken in its wrapper. The dip had a nice kick to it but if we didn't have chips and salsa would we have ran out of the soft strips of tortilla that came with it. They weren't sturdy and didn't scoop the cheese dip well. Sadly the big hurdle was when my other coworker ordered the fajitas like she has in the past with an assortment of peppers, onions, and a variety of meats like chicken, steak and shrimp. What she thought she ordered like previous visits was not what she got. This time she got half an onion and more than plenty of peppers to fill the plate and hardly any meats. To get clarification from another waitress because ours had disappeared after bringing our food out both of them had said that it was a correct portion. Our waitress didn't even give my coworker the moment to air her grievances before she said she could get the manager. My coworker said she didn't feel like was owed anything more but asked if this is what she ordered. It wasn't about the amount of food but the fact that she was dismissed so quickly. They suggested this place for the food and the drinks but I left with some dried out crab nacho leftovers, half my drink finished all because the service has turned me off so much. What turned to a time to catch up personally was now filled with us questioning how a waitress who was suppose to be a trainer for others was treating her own table very poorly. When confronted about it seemed to dismiss us and showed a lack of understanding and rather than continue to make an effort to salvage the rest of the meal was quick to give us incorrect containers and ring our bill up. The location may be around a younger college population but no one should have been treated like we were. read more

Visited my son at school and tried this spot for lunch. While we waited for our table, we ordered the dip sampler. I ate the 2 queso dips but my husband and daughter were chowing down on the Fire beans dip. I really liked the salsa. It was tasty with a nice little kick. My son had the shrimp fajitas- no leftovers. He really liked his lunch, my daughter had the steak Street tacos. She didn't finish but liked her meal. My husband had the shortrib barbacoa burrito. It was huge. He was full after half but he raved about good it was. I had the enchiladas coloradas. It was very good however all I could taste was the mole sauce- it was a little too much for me. My son did get leftovers from me as well as his dad. There's more to try so we will be stopping in again. read more

I used to frequent Santa Fe often when I was at UD so when I came back to campus during homecoming weekend I was curious how it's held up over the years. Well their margs are just as huge and delicious and the food was actually really good! I was pleasantly surprised (I honestly didn't remember much about the food from college). We got the guac (which was definitely made in the back) which was fresh and the tacos which were super tasty! The only complaint was the tap water tasted really weird - like our cups were filled in a dirty sink. It was nasty! But otherwise, still a great spot (and eat outside for good people watching). read more

Good Restaurant. I had mix reviews within my group regarding our dinner at this restaurant. Personally, my chicken chimichanga and my son's burrito were delicious. But some of my friends felt that the rice and beans were tasteless! I think that they need to do something regarding the ambience there---needs badly some TLC! The place is also little dark and had several paper boxes around the soda machine and looked really messy... This is hands down our go-to spot! First off, this is the best place we've been when it comes to COVID-related precautions. They just put in plexi glass between tables and booths and have always spaced out all the tables and guests appropriately. For the bar, they even have a spacer to ensure that they aren't sitting two different groups too close together. All the servers, bartenders, cooks, and staff wear masks at all times. My partner is a healthcare provider and we have never felt uncomfortable here whatsoever, and we go there a lot! Second, their food is absolutely delicious and authentic. We have never had a bad meal there and we've probably eaten there over 25 times since they opened. The servers are great and attentive and the bartenders make some delicious drinks. We've had just about everything on the menu at this point. The queso blanco and Azteca sauce are must! Some of the top picks: Alambre (either regular or order al pastor), taquitos de camarones, del rey fajitas, enchiladas, Santa Fe chicken and shrimp, and carnitas burrito. The steak is also better (and cheaper) than any steakhouse in Wilmington. For dessert, you have to try the fried ice cream or fried banana cheesecake. You won't regret it. Lastly, the drinks are delicious. The skinny margarita actually tastes like a regular one. There's a new mango one with mezcal, mango, ginger beer and some other stuff that's my new favorite. The beer selection rotates and the hard liquor options are solid. Overall, could not more strongly suggest this restaurant, especially during COVID. read more

When we found out Banh Mi Boy was closed on Sundays, we looked around to see what was nearby for lunch, and spotted Santa Fe Mexican Grill catty-cornered across Main Street. A lover of authentic South of the Border cuisine, the chance to enjoy tacos, burritos, flautas and the like, or some tasty al pastor, carnitas or tortas de pollo fritas, immediately whet my appetite again. Vietnamese sandwiches could wait. There was a short wait for a table, but that was no big deal as it offered time to check out the large barroom. It was crowded for the middle of a Sunday afternoon, but everyone seemed in a good mood and the beer and tequila flowed freely. We were eventually seated at a high top in the front corner of the room, and brought menus by the friendly hostess. The available choices were fairly limited and it was apparent that many traditional dishes were not available. Not unexpectedly, the kitchen was really doing Mexican style food for a primarily American audience. We ordered fish tacos and chicken mole enchiladas. The tacos were actually butter lettuce with a few pieces of fried light white fish (tilapia?), with a small amount of avocado, onion and a drippy spicy sauce. There wasn't much to it and although I appreciated the healthy aspects of lettuce over tortilla, it certainly wasn't very filling. The two enchiladas were stuffed with shredded chicken, chilies and cheese, and covered in a mild dark mole salsa and more melted queso. Half the plate was red rice. My son said it was alright, but he had had better. Coming from an area with a substantial Hispanic population, perhaps I am spoiled by the quality and diversity of Mexican food available to me on a daily basis, but Santa Fe has a ways to go to earn its espuelas. read more

My wife and I tried to go here a few weeks ago and waited at the bar for drinks for 30 minutes. It was super busy and no one came to offer us a drink. We chalked it up to bad timing and decided to go back tonight. Tonight we were seated promptly, but it took an hour and a half to get two margaritas, one appetizer and one entree. The guy pretending to be the manager was hanging out with his friend at the bar the entire time. Our waitress checked on us twice in the hour between when we ordered and when our food came out. The service was flat out abysmal. We ordered the Queso appetizer and it was presented more as a queso fondido, but was really just a melted velveeta like substance. The glob of chorizo was just thrown haphazardly on top. Really should have been broken up more and mixed in with the queso. Total hack job, but the flavors were decent. serving that with tortillas made absolutely no sense since it just made the tortilla soggy. Just a poor attempt at a Mexican staple. The molcajete entree had good flavors but a disaster presentation wise. No napales were distinguishable from the rest, cubed avocado added nothing to the jarred verde sauce. The meat was tender though. The margarita was awful. The mix was bland, garbage tequila, and the ratio was so off that you could taste the worst of each element simultaneously. For a place to botch a margarita that bad, they should lose their ability to claim to be a Mexican food establishment. Price point unreasonable too. $50 for that food was absurd. I have written over 100 reviews and this is the second food place I've ever given one star. I try to be fair, but there wasn't one redeeming element to my dining experience. Great drink specials, subpar food. I've been coming here regularly for the $5 house margaritas which come in HUGE 18 oz. glasses. I especially like getting my margaritas blended with salt on the rim. The complimentary nachos go perfectly with the margaritas. The nachos come with salsa, you can pay a bit extra for guacamole or cheese. As for the food, I found that everything was OK and about pricey (around $13). The chimichanga was plain, nothing interesting about it. The carnitas burrito was soggy on the inside and difficult to eat. My recommendation would be to only get drinks here and then seek cheaper (and better) eats on Main Street. The service can also get a bit slow. Whenever, I come here I find that I have to fight other tables to wave down my server. read more

Food was fantastic as usual. The chicken and shrimp dish had amazing flavor that really came together nicely. The only improvement I would make is to take the shells off the shrimp before serving. It was tough to see that there were even shells with all of the chicken, beans, and avocado around it. The tacos were simple and delicious. The bar was out of mezcal for the mezcal mule. Went here for the first time last night. Really good atmosphere and excellent service! The silverware all did not match each other and it bugged me but oh well. Everyone starts with chips and Salsa. Chips were delightful and salsa had a nice kick! We also started with wings. They were nice and crispy but I think there was to much sauce but still good. The celery with it was warm, not a fan. I got fajitas and they were great! The chicken was slightly bland. The beans were my favorite part. Brother got steak fajitas he said they were great as well. We got another order of fajitas as well. My boyfriend and I have been to this restaurant a couple times and have really enjoyed it. This last time that we went was not so enjoyable. We went with a party of 7 and had a reservation. They sat us at a booth that could only hold 6 people, so we pulled a chair over to the end of the table so we could all sit together. After our waiter came over and took our drink and food order, the manager came over and told me that I was not allowed to sit in the chair and I had to move. His suggestion was to take all of us out of the booth and be added back on the wait list, or two of us had to move to another table next to the booth. Might I add, that he never apologized or introduced himself. Simply just came over and said "you can't sit here". I would not have been nearly as upset if he would've said something like "I'm really sorry you can't sit there. Let me see what I can do". Then to top it all off, they automatically charged a large party gratuity when we didn't even get to sit together. I ordered the nachos especial with steak not knowing that this was enough nachos for three hungry people. I was stuffed. Fresh corn tortilla chips covered with loads of toppings and meat. I ordered a side of guacamole with chips as a snack later. The guacamole tasted freshly made and included a healthy portion for the price. I love to get sweet plantains whenever I can so I ordered a side. I would have like more, but this was a nice serving compared to some other places. I liked the cheese accompaniment as well.
