I have ordered catering from this restaurant a number of times and in that regard, the food is always a good value. Because of this, I wanted to try the food here dining in. We had made a reservation and upon arrival was informed there would be at least a 20 minute wait and were directed to sit at the bar. The wait for a table had to do with a party going on simultaneously. The bartender was kind and attentive. We ordered sangria that was strong, but good. As appetizers we ordered the bacon wrapped scallops, shrimp pil pil and brussel sprouts. The bacon wrapped scallops were good, the presentation could be better though. The shrimp pil pil was also good but pretty forgettable. The brussel sprouts were surprisingly my favorite however the charring and seasoning was a bit uneven, specifically resulting in some random very salty bites. At this point, we are still waiting for our table. A couple who sat at the bar maybe 15 minutes after us somehow managed to get seated before us even though we had been kind and patient with the waitress. They tried to allay us by offering us more sangria and eventually comping our drinks but I found that pretty insulting. Eventually we were seated, likely 45 minutes after our reservation time. Once seated, the service was fairly quick and the waitstaff was pleasant. Before getting seated we ordered their paella valenciana. If the paella was marketed as a seafood rice I would be on board, but paella? No. For what it was, it was just fine but it might have been the most disappointing item we had. It felt like a nicely seasoned yellow long grain rice with an assortment of proteins, no socarrat. For dessert we got the tres leches and the flan. Both were good enough, i enjoyed the tres leches more.

This place is quickly becoming one of my favorite happy hour spots. The drinks are excellent, the food is absolutely delicious, and the service is incredible. The stuffed mushrooms and garlic shrimp were standout dishes--so good! I'll definitely be back.

I had a great brunch with my girls at Sangria 71! The atmosphere was perfect; the servers were great and the food was awesome! Luis was our server and he did a great job taking care of us (as usual)! We had sangria, to start, calamari, seafood salad, and a tower of appetizers. Our entrees ranged from Fettuccine & jumbo shrimp cognac, lamb chops, Pollo al limon, Paella, and Pollo a la sangria, and of course everything was delicious! The restaurant is always clean and the great food keeps us coming back. If parking were better this would be the perfect spot! We'll be back!

Paella Marinera - Fairly nice portion size for 2 adults and 2 kids. I usually like the bottom of my Paella rice to have a little texture or socarrat. Not easy to do for these types of restaurants because they need to get the food out quick and don't want to risk burning the food. So risk/reward is not there for them to make the socarrat. As far as the favor and the cook of seafood it was okay. Nothing special. Churrasco Platter - Asked for medium rare and got medium rare which is good. Nice portion size for 2 adults and 2 kids. Lamb chops were nice and Skirt steak was cooked properly. Nothing special. Kids would come back but not at the top of their list.

Excellent experience, I am glad we didn't trust the 3.8stars on yelp, service was great, shrimp tapas was exceptional, octopus was soft and juicy, paella was perfect, portions are great size, sangria was yummy also. I wish we live close by, I would definitely come back.

Grilled pork chop lunch special, potato chips on the side

Taking my previous star down... Sorry guys. But my visit yesterday for lunch was so disappointing. Seems eating here after 1:15pm was a bad idea, the cozy dining room (first room with the burnt sienna colored walls) was full. My party of three were seated in the more formal dining room and we were the only ones there. Our waiter was less than attentive and our waters were never refilled throughout the entire lunch, we had to ask and by then, we were done eating. We ordered lunch specials as I mentioned to my companions that it was the best deal in town but to my surprise, the food was underwhelming. I had the grilled pork chop which was delicious and hot. I asked for potatoes as my side and they were neatly laid out homemade chips. My hubby ordered the Paella Valencia and his seafood was semi dry and overcooked. But my friend ordered the seafood combination on a hot place with rice on the side. The shrimps were totally overcooked and the rice was cold! And to boot, we each asked for soup with our lunches and all of our soups were lukewarm. Almost room temperature. Why was it not hot? No idea! Sangria was not good this visit either. Sad face. I was very disappointed given I've eaten here several times and recommended it many times over. Now I no longer can since the service and food was inconsistent. That is why we liked it before, it was consistent. But not anymore.

Early dinner at Sangria 71. Excellent service it was quiet, the restaurant was not crowded. At our table: Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail, Caldo Gallego, Steak Veal, side of homemade potato chips. Drink: Cosmopolitan and for dessert a tart with almond paste, delicious. About the Caldo Gallego it was good but it didn't have the thickness that it usually has, that is my personal preference and my experience. I definitely recommend Sangria 71

    Fried Manchego Cheese honey glazed

I liked most aspects of the service and space but the food was not great. First off, service was good and efficient. The portions were very generous (and they gave us two baskets of house bread for a table of 3) and appetizers on the set menu, intended for individuals, were really large and were definitely sharable. The food though honestly wasn't that great. I tried the seafood paella and it was so over salted while peas were undercooked. No hint of saffron and rice was rather starchy. Seafood was cooked well and not overdone. The dessert was also sizeable. The set menu for dinner (appetizer, main, dessert) was $39 per head and made for a few meals after. Of the appetizers, I tried a calamari which lacked crispiness and flavor in the batter, and the fried manchego cheese with honey, which was rubbery and did not have enough honey to cut the cheese. The desserts were good though!

My wife liked the seafood combo, but I didn't like their meat paella because although it also had chicken and beef, all I tasted were the sliced sausages and rice! However, I very much enjoyed the beef empanadas in light salsa dipping sauce.

Thank you Jose for getting back to me. We will check it out possibly tomorrow night. Who doesn't love chicken villeroy?? 😋 Thanks!

Hi Jose. Do anyone of your restaurants serve Chicken Villeroy? I know in the past it was on the menu but I was wondering if you're still making it. I haven't seen it for awhile. Thank you.

Yes, chicken villeroy is a classic favorite for many people and we usually have limited orders therefore it’s always best to call ahead and check availability when making the reservation. We serve it in Williston park and island park. Thank you

Do you have any vegetarian options and/or vegan?

    Yes

Are there any dairy ingredients, such as butter, milk, cheese, used in your paella?

Is there outdoor seating? Is it on the sidewalk?

Yes we have outdoor seating in the rear patio and on front sidewalk. Feel free to book it on online at open table.com

Do they let you customize the paella? For example can you get the meat one with only chicken?

Thank you for your questions, yes we can add just a chicken to the meat paella, or other items as you like.

Is there any parking other then the street?

Yes, there is a municipal parking lot down the block at hillside and Nassau blvd and also a few LIRR station parking lots

Food we got the pan con jamon, garlic shrimp, patatas bravas, shisito peppers and the plancha burger. The sangria was very good. Juicy, not overloaded with BS fruit and just very flavorful. The bread is like a toasted baguette cut into 4 triangles topped with piquillo salsa, arugula and jamon. Pretty good, I was surpised there wasn't pan con tomato but it was still enjoyable. This is a bit more on the acidic side so if you don't like things too tangy - might not be for you. Patatas bravas, classic with aioli and bravas sauce. Shisito peppers blistered, a bit of finishing salt and lemon. Garlic shrimp was cooked well, personally I'd like a bit more garlic in mine and some bread to mop would be nice but still tasty. Plancha burger was definitely our favorite. It's a blend of wagyu sirloin and chorizo, so it's very juicy with a nice smokiness. Very pleasantly surprised and definitely will be back to try some other things.

Tucked into a chic Garden City corner with floor to ceiling windows that flood the room with golden hour glow, this gem radiates modern romance, white marble tables gleaming under crystal chandeliers, olive branches bursting from sleek vases, and a living green wall that climbs the back bar like an edible vineyard. The ambience is pure upscale elegance with a heartbeat, soft jazz piano drifting over the clink of Negroni glasses, exposed wine cellars glowing with Super Tuscans, and velvet banquettes the color of eggplant parm that hug you like Nonna at Sunday supper. Candles flicker in mercury glass, the open kitchen fires pizzas in a blazing copper dome that sends waves of basil and San Marzano perfume, and the marble topped raw bar glistens with crudo towers that look too pretty to eat, until you do. It is lively yet intimate, perfect for power lunches or proposal dinners, the kind of place where solo diners feel like VIPs and groups feel like they own the room. The cuisine is a symphony of seasonal Italian genius that had my fork dancing the tarantella from the first bite to the final limoncello drop. We launched with the burrata special, a creamy orb split tableside over heirloom tomatoes so juicy they burst like summer fireworks, draped in 25 year balsamic and peppery arugula that sang harmony. The octopus carpaccio arrived shaved paper thin, citrus kissed and tender as a first kiss, dotted with Calabrian chile oil that added just enough heat to wake the palate. For pasta, the cacio e pepe was wheeled out on a cheese cart, tossed in a hollowed Pecorino wheel until the strands glistened like silk, pepper popping like tiny firecrackers. My branzino was filleted tableside, skin crisped to bronze perfection, lounging over lemony caponata and roasted fingering potatoes that soaked up every drop of Ligurian olive oil. The veal Milanese towered like a golden cathedral, pounded thin and fried to shattering crunch, perched atop a rocket salad that cut the richness like a sports car on a coastal road. Pizza from the dome? The tartufata arrived blistered and leopard spotted, blanketed in fontina, wild mushrooms, and shaved black truffle that perfumed the air like a Tuscan forest after rain. Desserts sealed the romance, the tiramisu deconstructed in a martini glass with espresso soaked ladyfingers, mascarpone clouds, and cocoa dust that melted into pure joy, while the bomboloni trio arrived hot and sugared, oozing Nutella, pistachio, and passionfruit like edible lava lamps. Portions are generous yet refined, prices feel like a Roman holiday steal ($28 to $52 entrees), and the wine list is a 300 bottle love letter to Italy with a Barolo vertical that paired like destiny. Service was the Michelin worthy encore, a masterclass in hospitality that turned strangers into insiders before the bread basket hit the table. Our server Luca greeted us with a megawatt smile and a complimentary prosecco toast "because beautiful nights deserve beautiful beginnings," then guided us through the menu like a Roman tour guide, suggesting the perfect Vermentino to slice through the octopus acidity. He timed courses with Ferrari precision, bread refilled warm and rosemary flecked before we noticed it empty, and when I mentioned a dairy sensitivity he orchestrated cashew based tiramisu without missing a beat. The sommelier swooped in with a Super Tuscan flight decanted tableside with theatrical flair, while the chef patron emerged to present the truffle pizza shaved live like black diamond snow. Water glasses stayed topped like the Trevi Fountain, plates cleared ninja style, and the manager glided by in a tailored suit to gift us housemade limoncello shots "for the stroll home, or the Uber, we celebrate both." Every staff member radiated genuine warmth, remembering our names, celebrating an engagement with a sparkler topped affogato, and turning dinner into a memory we will replay like a favorite Fellini film.
