I cannot vouch for the quality of the new staffs customer service. We made friends with the staff who previously worked here. None were reassigned to another location. They were all terminated. Not a good move Avis. You lost some excellent talent.

While we were still there, I noticed a scratch on the bumper and immediately pointed it out to her. She told me she would document the damage in their system, and I trusted that she had done so. When I returned the vehicle, I was told there was no record of the scratch and that I would be charged a repair fee. I specifically reported this damage at pickup, before I ever drove away with the vehicle. I should not be held financially responsible because an Avis employee failed to document something she assured me she would. The entire experience left me feeling scammed and taken advantage of. I also have serious doubts that the repair fee I'm being charged will actually be used to repair the scratch rather than simply being collected from me. My advice to anyone renting from Avis: photograph and video every inch of the vehicle before leaving, and do not rely on an employee's word that existing damage has been documented. I made the mistake of trusting them, and now I'm being charged for damage that was already there. Avis should refund the fee.

Zero stars! My disappointing Avis experience: After originally declining all additional insurance…read moreand other optional services during my online reservation with AutoEurope, the lady at the Avis check-in counter at the Milan Central train station location had apparently added every optional add-on possible to my reservation and when she showed me the contract to sign, she only showed me the Italian contract and failed to show me the translated version. When I questioned her about why the amount was so high, she told me it was due to the deposit that would go on my credit card for the vehicle. Having rented several cars from several different companies, this made sense to me and I signed the digital forms so that I could be on my way. Upon arriving to the dislocated garage to pick up my vehicle, I was told I would be getting an SUV as the car I had reserved was not available. Because of the total distance and small Italian roads I would be driving, I asked if I could change to something smaller and more economical. The gentleman in the garage were super friendly and helpful and after a phone call, they got me into a Fiat 500 (their smallest car) which had not yet been cleaned from the last rental. After 1 day of driving, I realized that this tiny car wasn't suitable for all the highway driving I would be doing, so I was able to stop at the Marco Polo Airport near Venice and the helpful staff there got me into a larger more suitable Fiat for the remainder of my trip. At the end of my 8 day trip, I returned my vehicle without any additional damage, and with a full tank of gas. The friendly man at the return lot said the car looked perfect and asked me to sign a receipt that was 3 times more than my original AutoEurope reservation! Obviously confused, I politely declined to sign and he kindly directed me to the Avis desk inside the Bari Airport. Once inside the lady at the desk showed me the English translated version of my rental agreement and I found out that all the "Requested Optional Extras" that I originally declined online and never offered again had all been added when I picked up the vehicle. These extras included a "Group upsell", "damage waiver", "windscreen protection", "theft protection", "Fuel up front", and "Additional products". Once again, I never requested these, nor was I even given the option to accept or decline these options. The lady at the desk inside the Bari Airport refused to help me with my complaint because it was "A different office that sold me the contract" and told me to call/email corporate if I had a problem. I have since contacted Avis and have only been given a case number and told to wait up to 30 days for a response. I've rented with Hertz, National, Alamo, and EuropCar. I even hold VIP status with two of them and have never been scammed into extras like this before. Avis should be ashamed of the service I received on this trip and I regret not sticking with EuropCar for my entire stay in Europe who at least had the decency to try to sell me extra insurance to my face instead of slapping them on behind my back. Avoid this Avis at all costs!

I booked a van through Rental Cars, looking for the cheapest option which was Avis. Pick up in…read moreMilan. Total cost for the rental is 352.76€. A few days after I returned the car, I noticed Avis deducted 1321.63 euros from my visa card without any notification or message. This brings the total cost of this 4 days rent on 1674, 39 euros. This is completely unexpected and I was completely astonished since this is so extreme and feels fraudulent, misleading and unacceptable. What happened? I picked up the car on Friday morning June 28, at 8:30am. The lady at the desk was very friendly and asked me if I wanted an insurance. I told her I took a Full Protection insurance through Rental Car. She replied that that kind of insurance is of no value and is not helping at all. She could offer me a full protection ( 'a real one') for only 40 euros a day. She would send a mail to the other insurance of Rental Cars to cancel it so I would have that money back. She convinced me and I was really happy with her support in having a real insurance and canceling my other one which - according to her - was fake. She asked me to sign on a screen a few times so all was ok for the insurance. Before leaving she told me she would send all by mail and I saw the mail already coming in while driving the car to pick up my friends. I didn't check since I was with friends in the mountains the whole weekend. I brought back the car on Tuesday morning at 9am. So I used the car from Friday June 28th 9 am up to Tuesday July 2 at 9am which is exactly 4 days. A couple of days I saw a deduction of Avis for 1321,63 euros. I was completely shocked and assumed it was a mistake. I tried to call Avis a couple of times, didn't work, always waiting music. I went to the office where I picked up the car ( central station Milano). I asked her what exactly had happened. The lady of Avis was very annoyed, saying that I had signed and that it is my problem. When I stated that I was told the insurance was only 40 euros, she told me I must have heard that wrong and that is only a net amount. Which is 100% not true. She didn't care and for her it is what it is and gave me an overview of costs in Italian. Contacted customer Service - zero help or understanding. The only conclusion must be that Avis is a scam company that has policies to trick the customers. How can anyone explain that an initial rent of 352,76€ ends in a total cost of 1674, 39 euros? Yes, I have signed but in good faith that Avis was honest and wanted to help me. For the money for the 'fake' insurance of Rental Cars that your employee claimed had sent a mail to cancel (since 'if you cancel before the start of the rental you have your money back') I didn't see any mail or refund. I rent almost every month a car and never had a situation like this before. I am very disappointed in this misleading and fraudulent way of working.

Be careful when you rent a car from Enterprise at the Milan Malpensa Airport Terminal 1!…read more I deliberately chose the "refill upon return" option when I rented our Citroen Diesel out of Milan Malpensa airport because it was the most economical option, and their rental rates are extremely high right now. During the 2-week trip, we kept seeing a dashboard message about AdBlue which we did not understand and no one at Enterprise told us about. It turns out that AdBlue is a Diesel additive for "greener diesel emissions" and if you run out of AdBlue the car will fail to start. Luckily my wife googled the message before we ran out. We found a filling station that could fill up the AdBlue tank for about €17. Had we not done this, we would have been stranded somewhere and clueless about why the car failed to start. It turns out that the AdBlue tank only needs a refill every 10k miles, so clearly the Enterprise folks were negligent in keeping the tank filled. They have admitted no fault but agree to reimburse os the €17 if I provide an itemized receipt (not sure I got one from the station attendant so I might be out the €17). Also, I diligently filled the fuel tank before returning the car to Malpensa airport. However, I then ran into a huge traffic jam and had to circle the airport 3 times to find the Enterprise return lot (signage for this is really bad). Hence, the fuel gauge was down ever so slightly from full when the attendant checked the car over and she insisted on charging me a €50 fee and about €20 for the missing fuel (not sure how she was able to calculate that) despite my showing her the receipt from the gas station just 45 minutes prior. I sent Enterprise a letter complaining about the above and their reply was, and I'll paraphrase here, "TOO BAD". Just be aware of all of this if you rent from Enterprise at Malpensa. They are out for profit ONLY and don't give a hoot about fairness to the customer.

I have rented cars lots of times over the years - very often from Bergamo or Milan. I have never…read morehad an accident or delivered the rented car with more damages/scratches than were already there when collecting it. I have never experienced trouble with any rental company either, till now, with LOCAUTO. When collecting the car at LOCAUTO, on March 30, I was first told to get snow chains as they are now by law mandatory till April 15. So I rented snow chains, which cost about 45 euro for one week! That's more than it costs to buy snow chains! My point is: If snow chains are mandatory, like the safety belts of the car, then they should be part of the rental fee itself. But LOCAUTO's creative ways of getting money coming in did not stop here ... When we collected the car on March 30 (we were two, a friend of mine and myself), there were some scratches on the car that were noted, and also one hub cap that was not looking nice. Regarding the latter, we were told this was nothing to worry about. However, when we delivered the car on April 6, the lady dealing with us, made a point of the hub cap. I explained the above. It was also illogical it should have been us, because then there should have been other damages ... which there weren't. As far as I could understand this explanation was accepted by LOCAUTO's employee. Shortly after I received the additional invoice for the snow chains, and I thought everything was settled. However, the day after I got an email from LOCAUTO saying they had charged my credit card 139 euro for the hub cap! So, basically LOCAUTO picked me to pay for a hub cap that had been worn out with time, and needed (at some point) to be changed. Apart the fact that this is no less than theft, is the fact that this particuar hub cap usually costs 10-15 euro, not 139 euro ... LOCAUTO makes you sign on an IPad when you fetch the car and when you deliver it back. As we all know, the screen of an iPad is not big, and what I saw when I signed upon delivery, was a fully tanked, OK car, thinking everything was fine. However, LOCAUTO mailed me, through very little helpful Autoeurope (the agent who did absolutely NOTHING to help me), a copy of the whole document. Here the hub cap was mentioned, despite the fact that the employee receiving the car made the appearance this was no longer an issue and certainly did not show me she had put it in for me to sign. In other words: I signed something I didn't know I was signing. I would of course NOT have signed had I known. So I gave up trying to get mye money back. Nevertheless, I DO consider it worth while warning you about this rental company. LOCAUTO definitely DOES NOT come across as a company you can trust. Choose some other rental, even if it costs a bit more!
