If you're reading this review to see the quality of their work, read no further because they never got around to doing ANY work on my vehicle. I dropped off my car at 11:27 a.m. and signed up for two new tires and a simple oil change. The person who helped me was very polite and advised me that my vehicle would be ready between 3 pm and 4 pm later that same day. I returned later at 3:40 to find that my vehicle was in the same spot where I had left it approximately 4 and a half hours earlier. I asked the same person in front why my vehicle had not yet been worked on. Said person told me that the "tire guys" were busy and would be working on my vehicle soon. I remained in the lobby and waited. I waited until 4:15 and they STILL had not even moved my vehicle to the work area. I thought to myself that had I known that my vehicle would not be touched until after 4 pm, I could have kept my car to run the many errands I had for the day. Instead I had to use Uber to drive me around town. Frustrated, I asked for my vehicle back. Sanford Firestone would do no service on my vehicle. I believe that Firestone knew that they would not get to working on my car till the late afternoon. Having said that, I should have been told to bring my vehicle back close to the time that they would have been able to work on my car. I wasted time and money for service that I did not receive. I write this review now so that Firestone might show more consideration to future customers. read more

I called this place to get a tire repair - they said sure come on in and we can fix in about 30-40 minutes. I get there and they say it will take a good hour. Okay, not great but I am already here. So I leave the car with them come back after walking around for an hour and the car hasn't even been touched. So the guy calls over the loud speaker to fix my car. Ten minutes later still no movement. So I just ask for the key back at which point the guy said we can do it right now - I promise. Sure like I believe him at this point, regardless I left without getting my tire fixed and went somewhere else the next morning. read more

I came here to have my Honda factory car alarm disabled. They took out my Lojack instead, which is not at all connected to the alarm. They thought the Lojack device was the alarm. I checked the FCC ID on the box they took out on the FCC website, and sure enough, it was registered to Lojack, not Honda. When I pointed out to them that the box that they took out is not the alarm, they kept making excuses instead of apologizing for the mistake. Even blaming me for the mistake that they made? Aren't they the mechanics? Aren't they supposed to know better? It's really stupid. They made a mistake. They took out the wrong device from my car. How can it get worse than that? Now I have to pay LoJack for inspection, to make sure it is still working good. Stay away from this place. They act like they know what they are talking about, but they don't. If I didn't stand my ground, they probably would never have given me the refund. read more

You think you would know someone after being a customer for a while but when I checked under my hood, I was missing some locking nuts, broke a couple of plastic covers inside and didn't completely finish the job! Man oh man...I went to this place because I had read pretty good reviews, but all I can say is WOW! To start off, I went in because I had recently had my two front axles replaced and the steering was very loose. I described it to the kid as though it felt like I was driving on ice, meaning it was pulling left and right like a wobbly kid trying to learn to skate. They asked me to leave it so they can get someone to look at it. 2 hours later I get a call from Rich telling me that my "left control arm is shot, needs new sway bar bushings and a new inner and outer tie rod....estimate $750." I tell him, that it is strange because the control arms are less than one year old, the bushings are about 9 months old and the tie rods were replaced a little less than two years ago. I proceeded to tell him that I know because I was the one who did it and that the newest thing is the two cv axles replaced by another mechanic; I then tell him I had it done by a mechanic because I did not want to go through the hassle of having to replace them myself. Upon hearing that I may be a little mechanically inclined Rich tells me that he was "just reading what the guy came back with from his tests" and that he will put it up on the rack himself to check it out. About an hour later he calls me and tells me the car is ready to be picked up, when I get there he tells me "yeah it needed an alignment it was a little off and that the sway bar was a little loose, the parts under there do look pretty new I am not sure what he was talking about". He charges me the $90 alignment and sends me on my way. I take her for a ride and guess what, the steering is still loose. I go home to read up on what it can be, people say steering rack. So I put it up on jack stands and find the kicker...the control arm that one guy said was "shot" had two loose bolts, which I could hear when I decided to shake the wheel. Tightened the two bolts, which were probably loosened by the other mechanic to remove the CV axle and he forgot to tighten (another sloppy mechanic), and the car is back to normal. You would think a professional mechanic would try to find the source of things that are loose, not just shake it and assume it is a bushing or "shot" part that needs to be replaced. BEWARE...of how quickly Rich changed his estimate when he realized that I knew what I was talking about, always get second opinion. $90 lesson learned. read more

Car got towed there because we were new to neighborhood. Needless to say, they tried to charge me $700 for a $300 job. When I called them on their BS, they dropped the price. Also, they gave my wife a different story than they gave me. I guess they still think it's OK to rip women off because they are "stupid & emotional" creatures who are absolutely clueless about those "wondrous" contraptions called cars. read more

My car stopped shifting gears while going over Devil's Slide. I got towed to Sanford Firestone and dropped the car off. They called the next day and said it'd be $60 to look at the car. Fine. Then great news -- they called back and said the linkage had come undone, it's back together, road tested it, works great, come and get it: $120 total! I drove over and paid and picked up the key. Then I got a ride back over later to pick the car up. I broke down shortly after. Then they told me the repair would be $1300. Another mechanic laughed at this, fixed things correctly, and that was that. read more

Let me start off by saying I'll only go to Sanford Firestone for my tires. They're professional, genuine & they're committed to getting you the best tires for your buck. One time I forgot my lug nuts for my spare & John called a couple times to remind me they're still at the shop, which I'm sure if it was another tire shop they probably wouldn't care & throw it away. John that's real customer service. I had an incident of having a flat tire this past Saturday, long story short the driver delivered the wrong tire & Chris went above & beyond to get me my tire. I understand things happen but he made sure I was getting my car that day & that's really much appreciated. So if anybody is looking for tires, look no further. I visited Sanford Tire and Brake Center (STBC) several years ago and did not do a review at the time, but I was going through some old auto bills recently and came across the "interaction" that I had and thought my experience in the form of a review would be appropriate. I had written a letter at the time, so I have everything documented, so I'm not working from memory; here goes. I was living in Pacifica at the time and STBC was close by and seemed well established, so they seemed like an obvious choice. The trouble light was lit in my Buick Le Sabre. My friend, using a diagnostic reader determined that the oxygen sensor (O2 sensor) needed replacement and that was the cause of the trouble light. I proceeded to STBC for the sole purpose of having one of the oxygen sensors on my Buick LeSabre replaced. They indicated that they could perform the task but they preferred to re-diagnose it to be certain. I agreed that this was the proper procedure. They proceeded to prepare documentation to perform the task which I assumed was an estimate. They handed me the document and glancing at it I saw a price of $150.00. That seemed fair to me because I had previously checked it out on the internet and it fell within that range of prices that I expected. This is the point where things took a turn that I was not aware of, i.e., the $150 was not to do the repair, but only to do the "diagnosis". They did not inform me of this verbally and I signed the agreement. (I take responsibility for not being more vigilant.) That said, when the shop is charging an equivalent price to diagnose a problem as will be charged to fix the problem, and particularly when the customer has already informed you what the suspected problem is, one would have expected to be told verbally what the situation is. Interestingly it took my friend about ten minutes to do his diagnosis, and now I see that many shops will do the scan for free because it is so quick and easy, and I'm sure promotes business for shops. Anyway, somebody from the shop brought me home where I waited a couple hours for what I thought would be a call informing me that my car was repaired. I was very upset upon receiving a call and being informed that the car (which was running great, no problems) required additional work involving a total of one thousand dollars and they were urging me to give permission to start the work. I first checked the need for a $400.00 manifold set replacement because they told me the manifold was leaking water. This merely required checking the radiator overflow contents which I had topped-off previously but never had a problem with a leak. btw, the level had made no perceptible change when I examined it later, an indication that there was in fact no coolant leak. I decided to get some suggestions from some friends for a local reputable repair shop which I then proceeded to visit and explained my problems to them. They performed a diagnosis without any charge and told me that my coolant temp sensor did not need replacing and neither did my manifold gasket. As for the oxygen sensor, he charged me about $80.00 for one made by the same manufacturer for which SBTC was going to charge $180.00. I would like to regard the whole situation as human error, but unfortunately, I'm not able to do that. The moral of the story for me is two-fold, that I would not patronize this establishment of course, but also to be more careful about signing any agreements for work, i.e., read the details. If I would have known that the $150 was strictly a diagnostic and not an actual repair, I would not have proceeded. read more

A rip off! Tune up cost more than $1k and they call it "major tune up". Changing fuse for the radio takes 3 hours. Don't come here!

I made an appointment for today 9am when I made the appointment I was told that it could take awhile for electrical work that was fine when I dropped it off I had ask if it's done early is it ok if I pick it up later in the afternoon say 4pm I was told sure . The day went on NO PHONE CALL saying it's done or it needs more work nothing so I CALL 2:30pm I was told he is going to look at it now BUT ITS BEEN THERE FOR 5 HOURS with an appointment so I show up 3pm and Chris tells me he is just pulling it in now and then laughs I didn't see the humor it that and as I was checking out the I didn't catch he's name I think he is the owner over heard me saying that if I would have known earlier that it needed more work it should have been done he tells me that I had indicated that I did not need my vehicle until 5pm and that they did there work laughed and walked away again I didn't see the humor it that . I could give them ZERO STARS for their customer service. I brought a tire with a nail to be fixed. They told me they would call me when it was ready. No calls. Next morning they call saying the tire is ready. I show up, they tell me to come back in 1/2 hour. I get back after 1/2 hour, NOTHING DONE. I can't waste all day waiting for a tire to be replaced! They are GREEDY, 3 employees working non stop. HIRE MORE PEOPLE! Awful customer service, $40 to fix a tire that costs $100, NOT WORTH IT..... Love their customer service! Top notch!! We've used them for several years. We were in a bind this morning because my son let his tires get WAY too worn down. Darn kid! He called Firestone and they got him in as soon as he could get the tow truck to deliver his car to them. I called to find out how long the wait would be and he replied "their done"! Wow! The service is always reasonably priced (I shop around first), good quality, prompt, and very courteous and friendly. They explain options well. That's the worst experience I ever had!!!! The battery signal on, they said I need to change the new on. After the new battery on, the signal was on again after almost 2 weeks. Then they said I need to change the alternator, I did change it as they said. just right after I got my car, that's something wrong. On the next morning, my car was totally overheat. Called them, they said to bring in. But how can you trust them to fix it right after two wrong investigations!!! I brought my car to another auto shop and finally they found out my car got almost broke was because of the Sanford Firestone put the wrong alternator into my BMW. OMG, they charged almost $140 for labor per hour by doing nothing instead killed my car...... Asked them to refund what I paid and they didn't want to. They said they only can refund the alternator but not the labor charge! How can I pay something that was not working but killing my car!! They are not losing anything b/c they still can get the refund from the manufacture. They still try to get excuse from the mistake they made on my car! This is the worst shop I ever seen!! I've been here a couple of times. I decided to go to this place to get my headlights fixed. I have a '96 Jeep Cherokee. They inspected it and told me the problem and the cost of it. It's been awhile and they said labor, the parts, and the inspection would cost about $278. I gave the "go" sign since one of them said it should do the job. I had to leave that day because I had a flight, feeling good. The next day my dad called me saying that they need more time fixing it. It ended up being a little more than $400. This was a big disappointment. $278 was already pricy for us for a freaking headlights.. then it was done. The other thing I didn't like was their service. My dad and my sister, who were the ones that picked up my car, told me some of the guys were rude. They had sharp tongues, which irritated them. And I could totally see why. Never going back here. I found other shops that said that it shouldn't have costed that much. read more

Friendly, willing to help, and always smiling, yes. However, vehicles need competent mechanics as well. First visit: had 4 tires that I bought from a neighbor installed and also paid for an alignment. (BTW: purchasing tires from an outside source and having a third party install them is fairly common and, as most tire shops claim, has no bearing on the install price.) Was informed that the alignment could not be completed due to faulty outer tie rod. SECOND VISIT: New tie rod installed alignment completed but then I was told that I needed a new wheel bearing on the same side. Hmm, I replaced that one six months ago. I was told that it was put in incorrectly. THIRD VISIT: the car pulls hard to the right. All smiles, as usual, and they fix it. Car now pulls hard to the left. FOURTH VISIT: "well your car is old and it does have a lot of miles." LOL! All smiles, as usual, and they fix it. Car pulls slightly to the right. I'll live with it. Leave shop, experience a loud grinding metal sound. Get underneath, a bolt that holds together the strut and steering linkage was missing. FIFTH VISIT: "that fell out, we didn't do that." I own the same car for over a decade and it just happens to fall out on the day that they fixed it. Hmm. SIXTH VISIT: replaced the bolt without charging for labor. Classic: they want to charge a premium price for substandard work. Hearsay? No, the evidence lies in how many times I had to bring my vehicle back. read more
