Bought a 2022 Silverado 5.3L to do a drivetrain service. Had the transmission, transfer case, both front and rear differentials drain and filled. As many know, the 10L80 transmissions are a pain to service which requires removing the exhaust to properly access the drain pan. Andy (the owner) is very polite, extremely knowledgeable and attention to detail which made me feel relieved to have him service my truck. I was charged a very fair price for the amount of work that had to be done. I had a vibration in my truck while accelerating, which I assumed had something to do with driveshaft and/or u joints. For some reason though, my mechanic suggested ruling out other causes before looking into those issues (still don't understand why he didn't just put it up on a lift to inspect). One potential cause would be a faulty torque converter, so I reached out to Andy at Pacifica Automatic Transmission. After going for a test drive and ruling out that potential problem, he volunteered to throw it up on the lift to take a look. As it turns out my suspicions were correct, and a faulty u joint was the culprit. Andy could have easily just sent me on my way, but went the extra mile to help me out when he didn't have to. While I didn't have any actual transmission work done, it's obvious Andy is an honest guy and knows what he's talking about. I'm late on posting my review. My experience is from early 2020. Five stars for Pacifica Transmission, specifically the owner Andy. I own a mid 70's Ford truck with an automatic transmission. Given the age of the transmission, I brought it in to have the transmission rebuilt. Andy diagnosed the transmission and found the transmission was running well ( a little tired). Instead of taking my money and doing what "I thought it needed, a rebuild", he recommended to just replace ALL of the seals (and fluid) and wait a year or two before rebuilding the transmission. I will definitely be taking my back as soon as it's time for the transmission to rebuilt. The world needs more people like Andy. Thanks!! read more

First, I want to say all these positive reviews are valid! Andy is the owner and he is a really nice honest guy. He really cares about his customers. I was having issues with my car to where it would not go while I was accelerating. I was assuming it had something to do with my transmission. I was nervous with taking my car into a shop and being taking advantage as some shops are known to do. I came across this place and read all the reviews and saw great things said. So I called and spoke to Andy telling him my issue that I was having. He told me bring my car in so that he can scan it on his computer. I thought he was going to charge, and he said he doesn't charge for scanning. He brought in my car he scanned it and no codes showed up. Which he said was a good thing. He told me to go ahead and gas up my car and drive it around to put 100 miles on it. Then to bring it back and he would scan it again. He would help to advise what would be better options for me. So a few days later I brought it in and still no codes showed. So that's when Andy said the transmission probably just needs to be serviced and flushed out. As it hasn't been serviced before. My car has over 77K miles on it so it was time. I scheduled with Andy to service my car and I had also requested to get an oil change as well. I brought in my car in the morning when the shop opened and it was done before noon! Andy had called to tell me that my alert for oil change was turned off on my car so he turned it back on and set it for 5,000 for when it needs to get serviced. He offered to show me how to set the setting on my car for it and other maintenances alert. My general mechanic told me I had a transmission problem after test driving my mini cooper, and I was concerned because there was some lugging I had been experiencing. Great, clean, professional shop. Was helped by Andy and seemed real honest. Told him I was, or thought I was, having issues with my transmission and that I was also told by another mechanic who tuned my engine that it wasn't really shifting like it was supposed to. They were not transmission guys. So I took it to Andy trying to help out Pacifica business and I was pretty happy with my decision. Spoke to him over the phone first to see if he could help me. He said I'd have to bring it in to diagnose, which makes sense. So when I was finally able to do it I called and he said to come the next day. I did sand he took it in right away. I told him I was in no hurry and to just take his time with it. Turns out it was fine. He explained a few things he did to it and I think it made a difference (was a faulty vacuum line). When I called and spoke to Andy last week, he seemed to know what the issue was right away and was very up front about what the cost would be. My 1999 Ford Explorer started having transmission problems. I took it to Serramonte Ford for evaluation. They informed me I needed to have a rebuilt transmission installed. I expected it to be pricey, but the quote was higher than expected, so I decided to take my truck to an independent transmission specialist. Andy at Pacifica Automatic quoted me a price that was only about $100 cheaper than Serramonte Ford, but I decided to go wtih him since I like to use local businesses. This was for a Ford factory rebuilt unit with warranty. When I picked up the truck, Andy noted on the invoice that it was running roughly and needed a tuneup. I thought this was strange since the truck was running fine when I brought it in, and it didn't make sense that it suddenly needed a tuneup. When I discussed this with Andy, he said the spark plug wires needed to be replaced. Again this was strange since I couldn't imagine the spark plug wires going bad overnight. Nonetheless, I subsequently replaced the spark plug wires with original equipment Ford. It didn't make any difference since the truck still idled roughly. I also noticed that it made a clunky sound when starting and had an unusual exhaust note. I took it back to Andy and this time he theorized that the old spark plug wires had been delivering a weak spark and had fouled the plugs. Again, this didn't make sense because this kind of problem doesn't happen overnight. I told Andy I was going to take it to Serramonte Ford. He offered to take another look at it to double check his installation. When I picked it up, he said he could find nothing wrong with what he had done. At Serramonte Ford, they said they detected a miss and that I should replace the spark plugs and coil pack. I said go ahead. But when I picked up the truck it was still idling roughly. I took it back to Serramonte Ford to have them look at it again. This time they detected an out-of-balance torque converter which was causing the engine to shake. Apparently the rebuilt torque converter that Andy installed was faulty. I'm surprised that a transmission specialist like Andy missed this. Serramonte replaced the faulty torque converter (no charge-covered under warranty) and the rough idle was gone. Unfortunately, the truck was still making bad noises including a clunk when starting as well as a knocking rumbling noise when idling and running. I took it back to Serramonte Ford and this time they determined an exhaust mount was incorrectly postioned causing the exhaust to come in contact with the frame. During normal engine starting and running, the slight rocking of the engine was causing the exhaust to bang on the truck frame. Apparently when Andy removed the exhaust to replace the transmission, he incorrectly positioned the exhaust mount when he re-installed it. Serramonte positioned the exhaust mount correctly (labor charge for me) and the noise went away. Finally my truck was fixed! Andy missed these problems twice: when he first installed the transmission and when I took it back for him to check it. I don't think Andy believed me when I told him these problems didn't exist when I took the truck in. He must have thought I was some dumb schmuck who didn't realize my truck was running poorly. In reality, I am more knowledgeable than the average person about automobile mechanics and keep all of my vehicles in top running order and perform preventative maintenance. I also used to own collector cars on which I did a lot of my own wrench turning. If my truck was running roughly before I brought it in, I would have taken steps to fix the problem. As it was, Any just assumed the problems were not related to his work and must have been some pre-existing condition. After the problems were resolved by Serramonte Ford, I took it back to Andy to let him know what it took to get my truck running right again. It took me two months and several trips to him and several trips to Serramonte Ford, most involving two vehicles, before everything was right. This involved a lot of gas and a lot of my time. He offered a weak apology, 'sorry for the hassle.' I asked and he reimbursed me for the labor cost in having the exhaust mount positioned correctly. Everyone makes mistakes, and I'm willing to live and let live. The only reason I'm writing this review is because of Andy's attitude. He argued with me every step of the way. I can be stubborn and pig headed, but Andy matched me word for word. I always went away angry from my meetings with him because he would never address my points and just kept insisting that he didn't do anything wrong. There's an old saying 'the customer is always right' as a guide for running a business, but in this case the customer really was right. I believe Andy is a competent mechanic and if everything goes right, you will probably go away happy. But if something goes wrong, you may find yourself in a protracted battle before the problem is resolved. read more

took my ford in for a transmission service. after a couple of hours i got a call and was told by the owner that cars tranmission fluid couldnt be changed, because there wasnt a drain on the tork converter. So all he could do was change the filter and top off the fluid.
