Remarkable shop. They did a diagnostic for free and confirmed that yes, there were problems with the transmission. Then, rather than quoting a new replacement, they researched and priced a used unit, but forewarned me that even with that, the cost would be likely too high for the value of the car. AAA recommended we go to a transmission expert after our car had multiple dashboard lights blinking in the middle of a drive and their mechanic said they couldn't fix on their site based on the codes that popped up in their diagnostic. So I called a several folks / transmission experts I found on google, and this company was the only one that was both friendly and willing to check our engine versus just wanting to charge us for a complete replacement without even looking at car. The mechanic was responsive and kept us informed the entire step of the way and was able to fix the "highly rare" car parts as the other mechanics claimed within 24 hours. I have a 1989 Toyota MR2. I bought the car from someone from Redding, as my Project car. Naturally with most project cars they aren't in the best condition. Like most Toyota's however, they are still reliable as it can at least still run. For it having a bad Transmission, I was still able to do everything I needed to, aside from my Transmission taking a few seconds to actually shift into Reverse. Then after about a year, I was unable to Reverse. To be safe, I asked AAA to Tow my Car to Automatic Transmission Center, and just like the many other reviews have stated, Lenin Was a Great guy. Really nice, to the point where I just wanted to stay there and have a few Conversations with him. He told me my transmission was just- BAD, haha!! and that I had the choice of trying to find another transmission which could take a few months, or to just have it rebuilt. -I chose to have it rebuilt- The Inspection was free, but then I soon found out why. The actual cost to rebuild a transmission was a tad more then I anticipated, but I am happy with the results. Even helped me find some other issues that need fixing. Just make sure your Right financially, and you definitely get what you pay for. Everyone's car may vary, but my car was there for Almost 2 weeks, just to put into perspective. But it was well worth the wait. :) read more

Update to my earlier review... I've been taking my Mazda minivan to ATC yearly to keep the transmission in top shape. They perform a yearly service and inspection and with about 7 years on the transmission they rebuilt, it's still in great shape. Recently I took my 1962 Buick in to have them check that transmission out.... this is a classic car with a funky transmission that's seen better days. They did a quick test drive and inspection and decided that my best option was: to do nothing right now. Price for the inspection: zero. I really do like Lenin and his team of techs, and will keep taking my business for them. read more

The diagnostic was FREE and this is hands down one the best customer service experiences I've ever had. Lenon was super friendly over the phone and even nicer in person. He eased my anxieties and assured me he'd take a thorough look to see what was going on. I got a call back the next morning (I brought it in the day before right as they were closing) and he said there were no errors, phewf! This place was recommended by my regular car repairman for a transmission issue. I had a message on my car that something was wrong with the transmission. They diagnosed it and said that the transmission as fine and it was probably an electrical issue, giving a wrong message. They did not charge for the diagnosis. It indicated that I needed to replace the valve body and I decided to take some time to think about it. They were very friendly about that and I left with a great impression. My transmission busted out coming into San Fransisco on my trip to LA from Alaska. Lenin helped me find the only used transmission available in the country for my vehicle, got it shipped the next day, and put me back on the road the day after!
