The appointment slots open I think exactly one week in advevery Monday (I'm not 100% sure on that though, and the time slot optionsare very limited and fill up quickly. If you can snag an appointment, it's one of the easiest and smoothest places to get passports done, especially with kids. Most recently, we used one of the multipurpose rooms here for a homeschool class event, hosted by an employee from the Las Vegas Natural History Museum for an ocean life class. I really love that the museum does that and we've always had great experiences with classes like this brought to us. Overall, this is a fantastic library for so many reasons, not just for checking out books, but also for community events, meeting spaces, and passport services. Whenever I've had a question at the front desk or needed help checking something out, I've never had to wait long. One of the best things about this location is the self-checkout system. It's super easy to use ... you don't even have to scan each book, DVD, or video game individually. Just place everything on the scanner and it checks everything out at once. They also have a great selection of PS5, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch games, which is something a lot of people probably don't realize libraries offer. The DVD selection is solid too. It gives me a little nostalgia of walking through Blockbuster back in the day. Instead of paying for streaming services all the time, I'd definitely recommend supporting your local library. I usually reserve my books, movies, or games online, and they notify me when they're ready. I just stop by, pick them up, and check out. The whole process is really smooth. One time they even called me quickly to let me know I accidentally returned my own video game with the library items, which I really appreciated. Renewing items online is also super easy. As long as nobody else has requested the item, they usually let you renew it without any issues. I personally don't stay long enough to study or hang around, so I can't really speak on the noise level like some reviews mention and rude employee interactions. For what I use it for ... quick pickups and returns, it has been perfect. The parking lot is spacious, and they even have 3D printers available for public use, which is pretty cool. You can also renew passports here, so the library really offers a lot more services than people realize. I've been to multiple libraries in the valley, including the Sahara location, and this library has consistently been one of the easiest and nicest ones I've been to.

Guess we usually come on a saturday, and it wasn't open. Pricing is very good. We didn't find anything. Has well-stocked shelves in many different categories, even foreign language items, which surprised me. I know some languages, other than English. But only fully fluent, about 80%, in one of my mom's languages (she knows four languages, fluently). Noticed that the display cases inside of the main lobby have been moved. This is a pretty large Library.

They have a little store with items like drinks and snacks and other stuff you might need . It also sells gas . It has like 5 video porker machines if you wanna play . I got a slurpe and a candy bar and sat on the side where they have a large western mural and some chairs with tables and some books if you want to read something . It is covered and you can just relax and look around the town and the park . The park has clean restrooms also . Sometimes you will see wild burros munching on the grass . Enjoy the quiet and maybe walk around the town . There is even a restaurant there now called Cottonwood Station . I haven't tried it yet .

It's about 12 miles from the Albertsons at W. Charleston and Desert Foothills, where many cyclists park, to Blue Diamond, so it's a popular turn-around spot. We often stop here to use the bathroom (clean), fill up our bottles, and buy some cookies or a popsicle on hot days. They even have free ice, which is very much appreciated when you're sweating like a piggy. If you're lucky, you'll see a bunch of burros who hang out at the park nearby.

Yesterday I attended my interview for the LPN program at Las Vegas College. I had worked hard to…read moreget to that point. From the beginning, I was upfront about my background, including my felony conviction. I contacted the Nevada Board of Nursing beforehand and was informed of the steps I would need to complete for licensure. I shared that information with admissions and was told I should be okay to continue through the process. I spent months studying for the TEAS exam. I failed my first attempt, second attempt, then kept pushing forward, and eventually earned a passing score. I completed the admissions requirements, wrote the required essay, and attended my interview with the program chair. The interview itself seemed to go well until I disclosed my felony conviction. While waiting for a decision, I could hear a conversation taking place about my application. What I heard made me feel judged and dismissed rather than evaluated as a whole person. It felt like my years of hard work, growth, and honesty no longer mattered. What hurts most is that I was transparent from the start. Had I been told earlier that my background could prevent acceptance due to clinical placement concerns, I could have made informed decisions before investing so much time, effort, and emotion into the process. My past does not define who I am today. I have worked in healthcare for 16 years, currently work in addiction recovery, completed probation, and have dedicated myself to rebuilding my life. People can change, and many of us spend years proving it. This experience only strengthened my determination to become a nurse. One day, when I am caring for patients, I will remember exactly how this felt. I will treat every person with dignity, respect, and compassion regardless of their mistakes, background, addiction history, or circumstances. No one should ever be made to feel less than because of where they came from. A felony may be part of my story, but it will not be the end of it!! I was looking for a specific book that a friend of mine recommended. Why not just buy from Amazon…read moreand save anywhere from 20% to 60%? Well because I couldn't wait to grab it since I was flying out the next morning and needed it to read for my long flight. I asked one of the cashiers if they had it in stock and where I could find it and she said there was one copy left and where to grab it. I was out the door in the next five minutes. I'm very surprised these book stores are still around since they sell books for much more than Amazon but it was awesome to be able to grab what I needed due to poor planning on my end. I hope they stay in business.

I was invited to attend a Sound Bath here on Friday morning and was so excited to be able to check out this library. It is located in the tiny town of Blue Diamond, Nevada. Blue Diamond sits just outside of Red Rock Canyon. I arrived early as I knew parking was limited. I was kindly invited in once the room had been set up. This library is a one large room broken down into a kids and adult section. A nice couch and easy chairs are there for you to use while looking for your next best read. There were about 15 of us in attendance and we filled the room with our mats, blankets and pillows. This was a great space to hold the sound bath in and we all really enjoyed ourselves. The librarians are super nice and friendly. When I need a quiet place to hide and hang out, I will be coming here.
