I've been going here for over a year now (if not longer). When I started my under arms were horrible. I am Caucasian female, 32 years old, normal hair growth (maybe a bit thicker under my arms -arm pit region). Well, NOT ANYMORE! The hair is practically gone & I owe that to Terry. WARNING: the FIRST treatment & maybe 2nd I swore to myself I would NEVER go back (bc if my thick hair there it was painful), but then I kind of got addicted bc I didn't have to shave for like over a month post treatment. I was like "dang, I need to do this again." So I kept going back and so glad I did! Areas I got treated: upper lip/lip area, under arms, toes, elbows (all of which look GREAT-and almost NO hair anymore)! Except for my lip area which I already told you about. Tips: she gives you numbing cream (if you want it), ice pack once done for treated area, cost around $75 per hour (extremely reasonable). My first sessions were longer (more hair), but now it only takes 15-20 min PER UNDER ARM! I think we have started at like 1.5 hours for both under arms in the beginning. ‼‼BEWARE of LIP AREA: I have PEACH FUZZ I wanted to get rid of but when Terry did a small area of my skin I noticed the PORES were bigger in that area & seemed to not heal properly. I do not believe this is her fault but rather my skin type/sensitivity. Either way, I highly recommend problem areas but if you're like me you might steer clear of the lip/chin area. Pros: Terry & team(s) knowledge, cleanliness, expertise, personable/friendly, easy parking, inexpensive (she doesn't allow tips)-which I felt a little bad about in the beginning, GREAT RESULTS Cons: she does cut your time off 3-4 minutes before your session is over in order for you to pay (no payment online) and for her to do this thing that helps protect your skin... I had my first session with Valerie and she was great! She started by going through the form that I filled out, correcting any errors and asking questions. She clearly explained the procedure and the pain level. She clearly explained the life cycle of hair follicles and the reasons for a follow up. I learned that plucking hairs only make them stronger. Whoops!! I have been plucking hairs for years now. She carefully and meticulously performed the procedure constantly checking on my pain level. She removed part of the tail of one eyebrow. I went for a couple of chin hairs and with the rest of the time she was supposed to remove stray hairs under the brow line. Instead, she took off part of the tail of one eyebrow, leaving me with uneven brows. The too-short eyebrow gives me an angry/puzzled expression on that side of my face permanently. She did not seem to feel any sympathy for my anguish. I thought she should have at least offered to have the tail of the eyebrow she took off tattooed back on so the brows would look even again. Now I am forced to draw the missing brow tail on one side every day, and I wear my hair covering that eyebrow. She left me looking ridiculous. I regret going to her every time I look in the mirror. Pros: Price is comparable to other similar businesses. Clean. Parking is easy. Cons: She does not know where eyebrows should end. She takes hairs off areas without permission. read more

I've been going to see Terry at Sandra's Electrolysis for about two years on a weekly basis. She is a board-certified electrologist and follows strict guidelines for infection control, which is very important to me (I tend to be OCD about that type of stuff). She only uses single-use probes and autoclaves her tweezers. This is a minor detail that most people might not care about, but one time she forgot to get me a pack of ice and already had her gloves on; she is so attentive to infection control that she used a paper towel to open the door to get the ice! Most providers (healthcare ones included) lack this sense and only wear gloves for their own protection with no regard for their client's/patient's protection and freely handle contaminated surfaces with their gloves on. In terms of skill level, Terry is excellent. I've seen great results over the past two years (I'm eliminating hair on multiple areas of my body) and have never had any complications. She also is very personable and knows how to make her clients feel comfortable with her. I highly recommend her! read more

Terry is a very nice lady. The prices are fair if not cheap. I used to do electrolysis in Atlanta and when I moved here I was devastated until I found her. The only reason I give her 3 stars is that she is much much slower than the lady I used to go to. What Terry does in an hour, is the same amount of hair removal as half an hour with Michelle in Atlanta. Even if I want to do two back to back appointments (which would be more expensive than what I used to pay in Atlanta) Terry is booked and I would not be able to do that. Pain wise, the machine she uses is fairly new so I barely feel what she is doing. read more

Electrolysis is not a quick fix for removal of unwanted hair but it is the only permanent fix and it is a commitment. I am a very experienced consumer of electrology services and Terry Adams is who you want working on you. Over the years I have had all the hair on my legs and underarms permanently removed by electrolysis and it is wonderful! But the electrologist who did that work is no longer practicing in Dallas and finding a competent electrologist to work on the bikini area has been an expensive, painful and disappointing journey. Until now with Terry Adams. What you want in an electrologist is someone who has had enough time in the business to have developed skill and efficiency at hair removal because this will make quicker and less painful work of clearing an area. Efficiency also makes it less expensive in the long run. And speaking of expense, you want someone who charges a reasonable fee to start with. This is Terry. Terry also uses the newest equipment, which is faster, more powerful and therefore less painful. Terry is also nationally Board Certified. The state of Texas does not regulate electrologists so no one needs to prove their ability to hang out a shingle. Terry has voluntarily done so through the American Electrology Association with the designation of Certified Professional Electrologist. This may not matter to you, but it does to me. I began my electrolysis treatment in New York but had to find an electrologist in Dallas during a family visit. Teryy was so great. She's kind, efficient and is great at what she does. I did not feel any plucking of the hair- which is something you should pay attention to because the hair should be able to slip out easily with a tweezer so if you feel the plucking it means they are not doing it right. Her office was also clean. The treatment was just as I expected based on the good reviews. Let me start with my little electrolysis soapbox first: Electrolysis is the only FDA-approved permanent hair *removal* method. Laser hair removal places can technically only promise permanent hair *reduction*. Meaning your hair can come back. With electrolysis, once an individual hair is treated, that follicle is dead dead dead and will never make a hair again. Electrolysis is a little more time consuming, but I think it's worth it in the end knowing that the hair is GONE. Plus it's a much better option for people with darker skin since there's no risk of the laser burning the skin. So yay for electrolysis! (If you have questions about electrolysis, there are tons of faq's out there in googleland. This one (http://www.bluedoorvt.com/index_files/Page1641.htm) from a random electrolysis place in Vermont is good. Make sure to read the scary chin story to get an idea of how long the whole process can take.) Okay now to my review: There is no Sandra at Sandra's Electrolysis. Confusing, no? It's owned and run by a woman named Terry. I've been going to her for about six months now, and she's great! Before finding Terry, I went to a salon that happened to do electrolysis on the side, and whoa, big difference. Sandra's is SO much better. Terry is super nice and obviously cares a lot about her clients. The office and waiting area are clean and orderly. The machine she uses (I think it's called the apilus) is fast and not that painful. I won't lie and tell you that electrolysis doesn't hurt. But the pain is just a quick zap. How bad the zap is depends on your pain tolerance and area being treated. If you're a wuss, ask for numbing cream. After the electrolysis, Terry does something called cataphoresis--I have no idea how it works, but it really reduces swelling and redness. The prices are reasonable, especially if you book a longer appointment. No tipping. I'm not being a scrooge; she literally won't let you tip. Minor complaints: Because she's so busy, it's hard to get an appointment on short notice and impossible to get weekend appointments. I have to book a few months out. Only other annoyance is that she always has Oprah or local news on in the background. Not my cup of tea. If you would rather listen to soothing music while getting poked with needles, bring your ipod. Lastly, a warning: electrolysis is addictive! I can't say enough about Terry at Sandra's Electrolysis. I've had a hair problem my whole life, and finally decided it was time to do something about it. I decided to start with my face since it is the area that causes me to be the most insecure. At first I was just going to get all the dark hairs off, but Terry was doing such a good job, and the results were so amazing, that I am now past the point of clearing all the dark hairs and I'm getting every single hair off my face. Terry's office is clean, modern, and comfortable. She goes above and beyond when it comes to cleanliness, and uses state of the art technology to provide the best experience. I've been going to her for almost two years now, and I intend to see her for many more since electrolysis is very addictive and I am now determined not to have a single hair on my body. The only downside is that it takes a lot of time, which isn't Terry's fault. I think with a lot of people they are looking for a quick fix, and sadly, that simply isn't possible when it comes to unwanted body hair. My sister paid over $8,000 to have all the hair on her body removed with laser over a series of treatments in six months, but now almost four years later almost all of it has grown back. I didn't want to go through the same thing. I'm not going to lie, electrolysis takes time. A lot of time, but the reason it is better than laser or other alleged hair removal methods is that the results last forever. People need to be prepared to put the time in for electrolysis to work. For me I go for an hour a week every week. I go at the same time on the same day every week so that Terry can get the hairs as they come in. In the two years I've been going I now only have those small white hairs on my face that every woman has, and I'm now working on removing them. Before I started? I had a mustache, sideburns, and lots and lots of dark, coarse chin hairs. It took about 10 months before I felt comfortable going a week without shaving anywhere on my face, and since then it's been about getting every tiny itty bitty white hair off because I love electrolysis! I don't even need to go every week. I could go once a month if I wanted, but since I plan to get all the hair on my body removed it's best to keep up the pace. So a couple of things to keep in mind A) Keeping to a schedule is important for electrolysis to work, and Terry's can fill up pretty quick so book as far ahead in advance as you can. I've booked myself for the next year. B) Certain areas on the body hurt worse than others, so take some pain reliever about an hour before to help. C) Don't let the amount of time it takes to see results discourage you, it is worth the time and effort. Waking up every day and not having to worry about unsightly hair is a blessing, and one Terry is particularly good at bestowing. Give her a try, and I know you won't be sorry. read more

Just had my first appointment with Terry today and it was a complete pleasure. She is so sweet and very professional, got me in and out in no time. Very affordable since she works so fast. I had one stubborn hair on my upper lip where a mole was removed many years ago and had, unbeknownst to me, aggravated, enlarged, and deepened the root system by plucking it. It did sting pretty well to get it out, but totally bearable. Terry also quickly removed several smaller hairs on my chin with shallow roots, so they were easy to do.
