Awesome spot to grab cocktails off of the beach. There's typically a DJ and the music is great. There are misting fans and a little fountain to cool your feet on typical hot Florida days. Wouldn't suggest for food- more for a party spot with an outdoor tiki feel. read more

I've been here numerous times, but never felt compelled to write a review until last visit. The waitress was great, but the "security staff" are the rudest employees in a service-driven industry I've come across. They were constantly ease dropping and butting in rude comments to our party all night. They were very inappropriate and harassed us until we got sick of it and left. We like the place a lot and whenever my son visits from Belgium, the sandbar is a must stop for drinks and the famous shrimp. However, today, June 10, we faced some disappointment. Our son and friend are both 23 years old and, as usual, they have to show their id to gain access to the premises. Not a problem and they voluntarily produce their id which consists of official identity cards from Belgium. The doorman, however, was of the opinion that the identity cards with which, understandably, he may not be familiar, could not be used as proper proof of age and give access to the premises to my son and friend. Note that my son and friend have accompanied us numerous times for drinks and food at the Sandbar. I understand that competent staff my be difficult to find and that some of these "wannabe" cops may be limited in their judgment. But nothing should have prevented him from checking with someone who has a broader knowledge of international documentation, especially if the place is qualified as "touristy". There are a number of I.D. Checking Guides on the market, with on line access (yes, the smartphone can also be used for this, not just calling the girlfriend). But the doorman was determined to use the little authority that he is being given in life at the doors of the Sandbar.... Too bad, because we really liked the place. read more

Sanbar has both good and bad. Location and atmosphere is great being right across the street from the beach. Appetizers are good (smoked fish dip and peel-n-eat shrimp) at a good price during happy hour. For the bad, sometimes the clientele can get a little rough and the advertised half price draft beer and well drinks during happy hour is FALSE ADVERTISING. The price is half the normal price but the glasses are smaller so its not half price. Order a draft beer at 3:55pm and it will come in a 16oz cup. Order the same beer at 4:05pm at it will come in a 12oz cup. read more

We had two beers total Salt employees behind us even agreed what's his problem. He said stop yelling if you have ever been here on a Sunday no one can hear anyone. We weere there on Monday 3-18-13 for Happy Hour, this was our Forth visit since they opened. The bar was 75% full and there were females behind the bar. We sat for 5 minutes before wee were greeted. We asked what the happy hour specials were and it was difficult to get a total answer. I had a draft beer which was 1/2 price , I believe it was a 10 oz cup. My wife asked about winen or a mixed drink, the bartender told us that house wine was 1/2 price but there wine is not to good. She then listed the well liquor that was included. My wife decided to order a full price drink which she received in a 8 oz cup for $8.50. The had shrimp which was very good. The location, and view was great. Service was poor and not very friendly. Came here once with a friend for a few drinks... Took a while to wiggle our way to the bar to order some drinks, and even longer to find a place to sit. Eventually we decided we wanted to order a few apps, so we got the conch fritters and some peel and eat shrimp. The fritters were okay, and the "peel n eat shrimp" were just seasoned PEELED shrimp on ice. The way it's set up is it's outdoors with two tiki style bars, some sand on the ground, patio furniture for tables/seats, with flashy lights and loud music booming in the background. I can see this place being fun if you're from out of town on spring break and were into wet t-shirt contests or something like that (that wasn't going on, but I can see this place having one). It was kind of fun watching the older couples walk in here, look around, and tip toe back words out. I'm not saying this place is bad, but it wasn't great. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here, but I also wouldn't object to coming here if I was already in the area or meeting friends. read more

This place has been opened for 3 months, with any new business there will be alot of phasing in/out of employees. Club Security is good, bartenders make decent drinks and the servers need some help but are learning. It's a great place to hang out by the beach and have a few drinks maybe a bite to eat and listen to some decent music. If u complain about a beer or drink costing $5-8 then buy your drinks at the store and stay home staring at the walls! Work hard, play hard. read more

I'm surprised to read so many good reviews of this place lol We went here for happy hour after a day on the beach. Wasn't super busy, we sat at a table beside the bar. It was dirty, like, the rings from previous cups and food crumbs from previous meals, but it's outside, so whatevs. Our draft beers came in plastic solo cups. Ok, but it's 100 degrees out, so they were warm in like 2 minutes. There was reggae music playing softly from speakers. We ordered the guacamole, ughhhhhhhhhh huge mistake! Sorry, but this is fake guacamole that comes in a tub from the Sysco supplier, disgusting! Homogenized and bland and bitter- blech! My face is all screwed up just remembering it! I eat about 5lbs of guacamole a week (yeah i have a guacamole problem!), and I'm not even super picky about my guac, but this was the worst I've ever had. We didn't eat it. And the salsa that came with it: OMG seriouslyyyy how easy and cheap is it to make fresh salsa????? I personally do it once or twice a week all summer long with tomatoes and peppers from my garden, it takes about 5 minutes and is insanely good. Apparently they don't do that here, because this was like jarred Chichi's salsa from the grocery store. Like, cooked, stewed salsa. This place is on the beach in Florida and doesn't make their own salsa or guac???? Anyway, suffice it to say, it was bad. We also had the hummus, which was the best thing we had. But I feel certain it was store-bought not fresh, based on how homogenized it was. But it was good. It came with soft, greasy DEEP FRIED pita wedges, like, whaaaa???? Crispy pita CHIPS are a way better foil for hummus. Luckily it also came with carrots and celery. My husband had chicken wings, which were huge and soggy and looked more like knees. Gag! Based on all that, we would never go here again, although our server was nice and efficient. A weird side note, the waitresses were all wearing bikinis, which is kind of gross. Like, unsanitary gross. And unpleasant if you're on a date, or with your family. Not a huge deal, but still, a little something left to the imagination is way sexier. We stopped by here twice, first time a thursday night at 6, maybe 15 people here. We loved the outdoor atmosphere, you can sit at their large bar or a table and chairs in the sand. There are tiki torches and neat water falls etc. Looks like they put a ton of money into the place, wish they had something like this on every touristy beach. It was happy hour both days, drink and food prices were good. Drinks were standard, not strong, not weak. I didn't care for their peel and eat shrimp, kind of spicy. The service was very good. If you like horrible customer service, this is the place for you. I have never been treated more awful in my entire life than I had been here. As a service worker myself, I know what it's like to be busy but I would never treat a customer the way I was treated at sandbar. Specifically, a bartender named Jenna completely ruined our night. My friend and I were looking for a drink at the bar. When we tried to grab Jenna's attention she turned around sharply, with an attitude "WHAT DO YOU WANT?!"---Is that how you respond to a paying customer? I brushed the first incident off-- maybe it came out wrong, maybe she didn't realize she had an attitude---ok fine. After a while we went back to the bar. We were trying to get Jenna's attention again (she was the only one catering to that section of the bar). We were trying to get her attention for almost 15 min!!! She completely ignored us. So I leaned in and tapped her. She turned around and said "don't fucking touch me!!" I was in shock. She quickly realized she was in the wrong, and tried to justify and apologize but I was over it. The atmosphere is great. Right across from the beach. They have the best location and setup for nice weather. But because of that it's crowded. I left because I never saw a waitress and even the bartenders failed to take my order in a reasonable amount of time. I did not expect great food, just a bite and beer while enjoying the sun. I felt like I was on vacation when I was here! I stumbled upon this place with my boyfriend after taking a walk on the beach. It's a relaxing, breezy, open-air place, and there was a live DJ playing good music. We ordered the pull & peel shrimp, the portion was huge and it tasted amazing. They had a variety of drink selections - we went with some of the flavored rum pitchers which were really good. I can't speak for the dinner menu, but this is definitely a great place to enjoy some appetizers and a drink in a relaxing beachy atmosphere. We will be going back for sure. read more

So much fun. We arrived to very friendly service and half off happy hour of all apps and drinks. Delicious cocktail menu and the food was really good. We had conch fritters, fish dip and guac/chips. Fish dip was great - definitely get it if not just for the warm fresh pita. The guacamole is eh so skip that. Really fun atmosphere - across from the beach, toes in the sand, tiki torches, tvs (they put on the yankee game - huge extra points for that!), awesome specials - we will definitely return. My wife and I really wanted to try this place out being that its location is right on A1A across from Delray beach. We paid our parking meter and locked the car and boom! Thunder and a down pour of rain. I though of course right after we pay to park it starts raining. We were not sure how this was going to work out being that the sandbar is outside. We got to the sandbar and everyone was huddled under the main bar hut. Luckily after 10 minutes or so my wife and I found a place to sit at the bar. We received recognition immediately and our drink orders were under way. After a few minutes looking at the menu we decided on the wings. It's $11 for around 8 meaty wings. However, it was happy hour 4-7 so the wings were half off. We ordered three orders of wings. About 30 minutes later we had our wings. We were shocked how fast it was. The wings ended up being delicious. We were tempted to order more, but didn't want to pass out from a food coma rather than from drinking too much. I will suggest everyone to point it out to your tab, we ordered few beers in "happy hour" and two Pina coladas( this is not included in happy hour ) along with some appetizers, when we asked for the tab, all beers were full price and one extra Pina colada was charge as well, we called the server and the answer was "this is what you ordered" off course The Manager got involved and we tried to explain what exactly we ordered that it was ok if we are paying for full price for the beers even though they told us they were half price for one more hour when we got there ,we just want got out there and just asked for the correction, one Pina colada was extra in the tab,he was rude, unprofessional,and the whole thing happened over one Pina colada, he literally said "I got it trust my servers, if they said you had 3 you got it paid for it" at that moment it was matter of pride no for the money. the tab it was only $ 73 dollars for a couple hours and we used to expend more than that . we request him that he could check cameras then, or called his servers, once again, he said " they are busy now " you got it paid, I told him, I am going to called the police and you had to prove it then, he just turned around saying to us " ok , but I don't want you come back again"... Sandbar - Bars Near Me - Delray Beach, Florida

I have been going to the Sandbar for Years since 1992 before it was remodeled. Today, is the last time I or any family members will spend another dollar there. My husband and I treated our grown daughters and friends to drinks, appetizers and lunch. My husband left for ten minutes to go into Boston's on the beach ( building attached to Sandbar) to withdraw more cash from ATM to pay for our 600.00 bill. When he tried to return the people at the door told him they didn't remember him going out and to get on line a wait to be seated. The line was very long as they were waiting for people to leave to let anyone else in. The manager got involved the police officer that works at the Sandbar took the guy at the doors side. We had to go get our waitress to tell them to let him back in. Even then it was an issue with the guys at the door to allow him back in!! It was a very rude, unprofessional way to end a great day with family and friends on the Sandbars part. You don't treat guest that way ever! There are many other restaurants along the beach that will appreciate having nice clients. C'est la vie, ciao and we say in Boston wicked poor management, choke on ya Chowdah! read more

The WORST service we have ever experienced in our lives. We decided to try this place for the first time last saturday even after reading the bad reviews. Last saturday it was pretty fun service was good (at the small side bar) and it was very busy. Last night different story... It was not even half the crowd and the service was TERRIBLE! We sat at the big tiki bar and has the worst service we have ever had. The bartenders seemed more concerned on holding hands with their boyfriends or flirting with the other bartenders than making drinks. Sandbar maybe someone of importance should read all these reviews of terrible service and make a change quick before it is too late. STAY AWAY!!! Ridiculously overpriced, water-downed drinks. Rude, inattentive servers who make it easily known that they hate their jobs and don't want to be there. HORRIBLE management--observed the owner on multiple occasions dealing with rational customer complaints by telling them if they have a problem they can take their business elsewhere. He puts his pride and ego way before customer satisfaction and the reputation of his business. I've never actually seen an owner go by the mantra, "the customer is NEVER right." I would give this bar 4 or 5 stars if not for the negative experience i had with the manager. My girlfriend and i were traveling with two small support dogs. We had visited the bar after a couple hours on the beach and really loved the atmosphere and vibe. The next evening we went for a few drinks and were with our dogs. Knowing that boston's next door even has a menu of food for dogs and the sand bar being open air we did not imagine the dogs being a issue. After sitting down a male manager came over and abruptly said we had to leave cause of the dog's. My girlfriend informed him that in addition to them being on leash and well behaved they were also support dogs. At this point the manager bent down and got in her face and just kept asking what kind of support do they provide. We told him that he was not allowed to ask that and they were protected by federal law just like service dogs. He continued to be rude and repeat himself and eventually just said we dont allow them here so call youre lawyer if you want. Funny how he really only spoke to her and not me. i did show him documentation and he said he didn't care and to leave. The bar could be a fun place to go but we will never return because of the ignorant and rude management. read more
