what we were sort of expecting
Justin F.

Had to wait about an hour until the next ferry ride so me and my lady walked around Embarcadero finding this newly opened Yemeni cafe. Honestly, for us, it was okay at best. The interior is nice, decorative with many places to sit. We decided to order on the self-order kiosk. The Biscoff latte caught our eye but we ended up being a little underwhelmed. We ended up waiting almost 15 minutes for our drink and out of concern we asked for an update on our drink only to find out our order didn't process through the self-order kiosk because their internet had been down which would have been nice to know by any of the staff prior to ordering. After reordering, receiving, and trying our drink we ended up thinking it was OK. We ordered everything as-is with the exception of changing our milk option to Oat milk and it wasn't as sweet as we were expecting and kinda just bland. The picture shown is what was online compared to what we received, we ended up asking for it to-go after reordering because of the timing but I was a little sad it didn't really resemble the kiosk's picture. Overall our experience at this cafe was ok!

Everything about this cafe is wonderful! The staff were warm, friendly, and helpful. The decor is beautiful without being over done. The coffee was delicious and strong. I can't for more locations to open!

Breathing life into the old Starbucks space is a Yemeni cafe with a lot more personality. Very big and interesting racks of pastries. And the drink list is intriguing too. Musakhan: This is kinda like a giant chicken taquito. The chicken is shredded and has a nice savory and sweet kind of taste. The carbs rolled around it are thin and crispy. Really fun to eat. Pastrami Ciabatta: Reminds me of those little warm Starbucks sandwiches. Nice smoky taste from the pastrami, lots of gooey cheese and a chewy roll. Hit the spot. Zaatar Cheese Fatayer: Lots of nice chewy cheese filing with some zaatar spices on the dough outside to give it some personality. Kinda small though, it goes too fast. Potato Fatayer: LIke the cheese version, but not as tasty or filling. Kinda like a samosa meets an empanada . Lesson learned, stick with the cheese! Beef Shawarma: Those most substantial savory item I tried. Longer and thicker than the musakhan. The beef pieces were pretty good chunks. Quite tasty and filling, though I'd think a dipping sauce could have really made this a homerun. Salted Caramel Milk Cake: Kinda like a tres leches, though not as sweet. Plus the salted part is actually quite salty. Dubai Milk Cake: Like a chocolatey tres leches. A little bit of kataifi mixed in for crunch. Honeycomb: The perfect mix of savory and sweet. The salty cheese inside each bubble pairs amazingly with the honey poured on top. You pour the honey yourself and I like to do it early, so there is time for it to soak in. Biscoff Danish: This was a great breakfast pastry. It's like a cheese danish with cookie butter on top and a biscoff biscuit on top of that. So rich, a great way to start the day. Ferrero Cheese Cake: Love the chocolate hazelnut spread on top. The half Ferrero Rocher is fun too, though the wafer wasn't as crisp as fresh out of the gold wrapper. Adeni Chai: Comes in a cute glass tea pot. Milky and full of spices. Such a refined way to relax enjoying constant refills in the little teacup.

Located near The Embarcadero and across the street from the Hyatt. Lots of espresso drink options and pastries. Lots of seating and strong WiFi so decent for working.

Yemeni cafés popping up everywhere; not just in my city, they're throughout the Bay Area and other big cities and some states throughout the US. Many Delahs, many Haraz, and Sana'a. They're all similar yemeni cafés! I'll be waiting for its new addition at the acute corner to open up. For now, I'm enjoying what Sana'a Café is having, Adeni Chai and any sweet treat. Be sure to check out their enchanted interior decorations that are pictured below.

I originally gave this a 5 star but now coming back to change it two hour later as I have a stomach ache from the chai tea I got here. I haven't had anything else new today. Been to the bathroom 3 times and have a stomach ache. Must be something wrong with the evaporated milk in the chai? I really wanted to like this please. Perhaps still working out the newness of it. Ugh I want to give a new place a chance so leaving 3 stars. Normally this is a one star experience for an established place. I think they intended well just have some quality control issues perhaps. ------- First time here. Love the ambience. Ordered chai and they didn't charge me for changing it to almond milk. Rare for a cafe. Will try their pistachio rose croissant. Love the seating too.

Finally tried out Sana'a Cafe now that a location opened near my work. Pros: Quality Chai: It's strong and flavorful (not made with those fake, overly sweet syrups). It comes out piping hot! The Atmosphere: The cafe is beautifully decorated, bright, and very comfortable. Kiosk Ordering: I wouldn't customize my milk preferences. A few tips: It gets busy: They have plenty of seating, but it packs out quickly during the morning rush. The Pastries: I didn't grab one this trip, but they have a massive selection that looks delicious. I'll definitely be back to try them soon

Well executed coffee and dessert chain. 17 Locations as of 8/1/26. Middle Eastern Ambiance. Very cool spot if you're looking for somwthing unique and different. Ballsy location right by another Starbucks and I love that about the place :-) Electronic menu/ordering or in person. Place was popping when I visited, but the wait was not long. Excellent product and experience!

Sanaa Cafe on Drumm Street is simply enchanting. The decor looks like it came from a page of a children's picture book. I came here on Friday after the morning crush and there are tables aplenty. I am new to Yemeni cafes so everything is a bit overwhelming to me. I ordered a small adeni chai, a beef roll and a pistachio milk cake. Sat at a nice table along the wall. The very sweet lady who took my order also brought my food to me, neatly presented in a gorgeous tray. She also warned me that the chai is very hot. Everything tasted fine. The ambiance and the hospitality will bring me back for sure.

Yemeni Latte and Honeycomb

I came to Sana'a Cafe right after they opened this morning, and I was impressed the moment I walked in. The place is absolutely beautiful...warm, inviting, and thoughtfully decorated. It has such a peaceful atmosphere... It was my first time trying a Yemeni latte and honeycomb bread, and both were amazing! The latte was smooth, rich, and wonderfully aromatic, and the honeycomb bread was soft, warm, and delicious. They paired perfectly together. Such a lovely experience and a wonderful way to start my morning. I'll definitely be coming back to try more of their Yemeni coffee and pastries. Highly recommend!

I ordered the biscoff cheesecake, oreo cheesecake, biscoff latte, and biscoff Danish. I did not eat everything in one sitting. But everything was delicious and not to sweet. I will be go back to try other items. The service was amazing. The staff was super nice, friendly, helpful and attentive. They are willing to answer any questions even with a line. They treat everyone the same. It almost feels like your family. The ambiance was beautiful and I loved the music playing in the background.

Delicious Yemen coffee, nicely prepared. Tasty little deserts and the Hibiscus tea was very flavorful. Enjoyed the middle Eastern vibe and music. Kind and friendly staff.

Ok coffee but really difficult customer service. Gave me a hard time to use my birthday reward, and ended up just paying full price.

Great drinks. Loved the chai. They need someone manning the register though. Takes too long to place an order.

DO NOT PAY FOR DELIVERY…read more We paid extra to have our order delivered to our hotel and used the restaurant's order-ahead option. We scheduled the delivery for 9:20 a.m., but by 8:40 a.m. the app showed it had already been delivered. The problem? There was no food at our hotel room. I tried contacting the delivery driver by text, but never received a response. It was incredibly frustrating, especially after leaving a generous tip. We later found out the driver had left the food at the hotel but never told the front desk which room it was for, even though they had all of the delivery information. As a result, our food just sat there until we eventually had to go down and get it ourselves. In the end, I paid for a delivery service that I never actually received. Instead of enjoying the convenience we paid for, we had to track down our own order. Based on this experience, I would not recommend paying for delivery. If you're ordering from this restaurant, save your money and pick it up yourself. I paid for a service, but I did not receive what I paid for. Then to make it worse the breakfast sandwich was just OK. Nothing to write home to mom about. To say the least we will not be ordering her again and would not recommend this restaurant.

It seems like there's also an upstairs but did not get the chance to check it out. I got an iced latte with their almond macadamia milk, and they're also so nice to do complimentary cold brew! So we got an extra drink for free. Trying the iced latte, it was pretty disappointing lol. I thought it would be similar to like a Hawaiian style latte with macadamia milk, but it was a lot lighter than I thought. It was definitely very nutty, but it also just tasted like water down latte. Honestly not much going on with the drink, but it does taste lighter in general. Crazy have to pay $1.50 more to add on this milk. Overall, its alright. I do like the natural lighting coming into the shop, but nothing too special.

Rare 5 Star Review - The Irish Coffee to die for!…read more The Buena Vista Cafe is an absolute must-visit. Nestled right near Fisherman's Wharf, this historic saloon is world-famous for introducing the United States to Irish coffee back on November 10, 1952. The story behind it is legendary: owner Jack Koeppler challenged travel writer Stanton Delaplane to replicate a rich, warming beverage they had tasted at Shannon Airport in Ireland. After a long night of trial, error, and eventually consulting a local dairy-owning mayor to figure out how to get the cream to perfectly float on top, their perfected method was born. Watching the bartenders craft rows of these cocktails simultaneously with magician-like speed and precision is an incredible experience in itself. Tasting the final product--a smooth blend of hot Peerless coffee, C&H sugar, premium Tullamore D.E.W. whiskey, and a cold velvet collar of heavy cream--was an absolute revelation. I can honestly say it is one of the best drinks I have ever had, offering a perfect, comforting balance of hot and cold, bitter and sweet, that makes you want to immediately order a second round. Dreaming of one of those Irish Coffee's as we speak. Absolute perfection. Thanks

Ambiance GREAT! Damn the bartenders are SAVAGE! They basically hate anyone that isn't a regular!…read moreWent yesterday and a slender bald guy was ours mid day. He was so taken aback. Asked, if I could have an Irish coffee to go "iced" ( they have a TO GO menu outside listed) It was 78F, I guess I had to acquiesce to the man's wishes. Hot...to go! Went again tonight (9/7) Steven was the guy I got! He said "Labor day weekend is full of amateurs" Man...They are paying your bills! When did this area become NYC? I am not from SF. I am a bartender in San Diego. I, understand your frustration and you have worked there for 5 years. We all know why we get into this business, with that being said... Deciding, to $hit on anyone that could hear you is atrocious and maybe it's time for half of those old timers to retire. This is only my experience from the bar top. Kind of made me sad as they forgot why they chose this profession. Clearly, they have lost that and have become jaded.
