    The view while we ate.

The food, service, and view were all incredible. The first night we ordered the blackened snapper with a fish topping.... Amazing! The vegetables were perfect aldente with a light butter. The fish was incredible. The next morning we had an omelet that was made to order with fresh ingredients. Altogether everything was amazing!

Unfortunately we forgot the discount for dinner

The only reason I am giving them 3 stars is because they are a little overpriced for a dinner. But again you is nothing else's around the Hearst Castle that was the only reason we stayed here. Employees are nice and friendly. Food was ok. Nice view of the ocean I guess that's why you need to pay some little extra lol if you stay at the hotel they will give you a 10%discount card. We eat dinner and breakfast here.. definitely recommend this place if you need a place to crash on your way to the castle.

It took about 20 min to get a waiter which I only saw once when we order our drinks, the water they served us let's me know they need new piping, appetizers came after a 20min wait, we had mozzarella sticks and garlic bread which was burned, the mozzarella sticks were store bought and straight out of the box, marinara sauce out of a jar. It looks like no one has control of this place, no stablished work stations for the waiters/waitresses, the furnishings are old and outdated, some trifold dividers separate the "fancy(based on prices)restaurant " from an old outdated stage and convenience little market. Today is my 17th anniversary we were trying to have a good dinner after visiting Hearst Castle, and I'm not hesitant to say this was the worst service I've ever experienced, oh by the way,,,how can you be short staffed on a Saturday night?!!! Anyways here's my results: *mozzarella sticks *garlic bread *coke *beer =$26 USD after 10% discount Me and my reason to live (aka my wife) never coming back to this place

This was my first time eating here and overall it was ok. The menu states their clam chowder is famous....not sure for what. It had chunks of potatoes but only a few clams. Definitely not the best clam chowder in the area or on the street. The tuna sandwich was simple. Very much like making it at home. Nothing special or extravagant about it. The green salad was nice and was probably the best part of the meal. Service started out ok but after finishing and waiting over 30 min for the bill even after having to ask for it twice wasn't the way I had hoped to end my experience.

What terrible food, absolute joke. I should be ashamed of themselves. Disgusting and overpriced. Bad service. Lazy people. Close it down.

We had about a 5 minute wait to be seated, we asked for first availability and we were seated indoors. Parking is extremely challenging, we had to park on the street and a bit away. The rating is based on two things food and service. There were 5 in our party so rather than put two tables together (empty tables were available) and seat us comfortably, they crammed us in a table that sat 4 and added an extra chair at the head of the table. We literally had no extra space for our food. Appetizer: oysters on a half shell. 6 oysters served with a side of cocktail sauce with horseradish and one small lemon wedge. Oysters tasted fresh Mains: clam chowder in a bread bowl. The clam chowder here is okay. Menu description: Homemade New England-style clam chowder served piping hot in our crusty sourdough round (contains bacon). Sourdough bowl was far from "crusty", bread was lightly toasted (did not have any brown toasted color at all. Bacon was nonexistent as were traditional potato chunks. The chowder was pretty grainy. I would not order this again. Very disappointing. Fish and Chips: menu description: Best catch white fish lightly breaded served with lemon, tartar sauce, and shoestring French fries. When asked what fish was used, waiter did not know and guessed cod. The fish were about 5 pieces of small fish. The fish was not greasy and tasted freshly fried. The tartar sauce was pretty good. The fries were, not my favorite, kinda hard and even worse once they cooled down. Other than the French fry quality, I would order this dish again and try to substitute the fries for a coleslaw. Fish Tacos: Two tacos served with corn tortillas stuffed with lightly breaded white fish served with cheese, jalapeño cream slaw, and salsa fresca. I did not try the tacos but my friend said they were pretty tasty. Dessert: Molten Chocolate Cake. A chocolate cake filled with dark chocolate truffle served warm with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. This dessert was served warm and it was delicious. Service 10/10. Waiter was very friendly and attentive. Overall, Moonstone Beach Bar & Grill has pretty amazing ocean views and ambience is pretty laid back. The food however, was hit and miss and parking is extremely challenging during peak hours.

We ended up sitting outside on the patio. My husband and I shared New England Clam Chowder in a bread bowl. The soup's texture was creamy with a bit of clam and potatoes in every bite. Beautifully prepped morsels. The bacon added another level piquing our interest with each bite. Server was friendly but was not much for steering us through the menu. Ordered a side of coleslaw after hearing another table add it to their fish & chips order. Our fish & chips orders seemed overdone for our tastes. It is a nice location and one can stroll the beach afterwards.

We enjoyed cocktails in the parking lot and met some nice people visiting from Evergreen, CO. We love the atmosphere when you first arrive, with all of the chefs prepped in anticipation of the bustle of the first patrons arriving. We split the Rockefeller for a starter. It went great with the Markham Sauv Blanc!! We had the shrimp scampi over pasta--so ridiculously good, it should be illegal. We also had the sea bass which was tasty. The potatoes on the side are perfectly done every time. I would say a 4pm arrival is probably the right time to get in line. Worth the wait!!

The Clam Chowder tasted like flour and needed salt. The Soy Ginger Mahi Mahi was presented with the Soy Ginger sauce on the side, rather than being cooked in. It was so bland you had to search for the flavor of the sauce. I'm not sure how a dish with soy needed more salt, but it certainly did. Rather than it being a reduction or the fish actually cooked in it, it was just flavorless. And don't get me started on my Halibut. All of the fish is cooked in butter, which should give it some flavor, but it did not. We are usually plate-cleaners, but we both ate only about half of our meal. Lackluster, boring, bland. I would say it was a one-note flavor, but you'd have to have some flavor for that to be true. The only positive I have about the fish is that it was fresh, so I guess there's something. The service was fine. I can imagine what it's like to have an entire restaurant sat at the same time, so there should be some forgiveness there. But for $200 for two people for one appetizer, two entrees, and three glasses of wine, I would expect to be able to get through the meal.

Perfect timing that this place came up. Got seated right way and I ordered the Mediterranean salad. Was a good portion, fresh ingredients with the right amount of protein (shrimp). If I were going to go back, I would recommend it. The ambiance is like dining in a greenhouse with a patio deck available. Very welcoming and pleasant service staff. Plenty of free parking and restroom are very clean. Ragged Point is more of a complex; it has an Inn, convenience/fuel station, art gallery/gift shop, coffee shop/snack bar, and burger shop (which was closed). Based on this experience alone, I would have given them 5 stars. However, read on. We continued our drive up the coast and did some hiking. Knowing that we would stop here for dinner, because we had such an enjoyable meal for lunch. Boy was this not the case. We were totally disappointed. Seated right away, but took a long time to for someone to take our drink order and meal order. Staff are over worked and seem and confused. We saw some people seated after us get their orders in before us. If we had other options, we would have left. But remember you do not have a lot of options on CA HWY 1. Ordered the Pork Chop, It was supposed to be a Iberico Tomahawk, it wasn't, it was a regular pork chop (be it was a good size). Supposed to come with Apple-Potato Hash, I received regular mash potatoes. Supposed to be Grilled Broccollini it was raw broccoli. When we did get our drink order in earlier, I requested a glass of Chardonay, never received it, but also didn't get charged. The menu does state the pork chop "(cooked medium)" mine was questionable (as a matter of personal preference I never send anything back, I've been known to box it up and cook it longer at home, rather than sending it back). I noticed two other dinners send their steaks back because it was undercooked. This meal was not worth the cost or time. I would not recommend you dining here. However, do stop, because of the views are wonderful.
