I parked my car in a permit only parking space, with a valid parking permit. I had expired registration tags on my vehicle, but my car registration was current. They towed my car for having expired tags! I called the local police department and they confirmed a tow truck company can tow your car for expired tags without contacting the police department to verify your car registration is current. Western Towing tows your car at night so it's in their tow yard overnight which costs $370 to get it out. If you ever see this towing company in your neighborhood, run!

I can't say anything about value or price, but they couple that loaded the truck made some nice small talk and again LESS THAN 10 MINUTES to load a car and be on their way. I didn't hear everything, and I really didn't mean to eavesdrop, but my front window was open, so it was sort of unavoidable. My wife works at Tricity Medical Center in Oceanside. Our son's car which is in her name was towed…read morefrom the parking lot. It is registered in Alabama because that's where he lives. He was visiting us when we got a call from her father who was put in the hospital back in Alabama and our son had to fly back and help him, and would return back for car as soon as he could. We left his car at the hospital parking lot where she notified security and hospital authority it was there. We just found out the car was towed by western towing in Oceanside. They don't have any information online to help find the car by vin or tag. None of the state resources pulled it up, no one from the hospital could tell us anything so that tells me that they violated California wrongful towing laws, primarily under Vehicle Code § 22658, forbid towing from private property without express written authorization from the property owner/agent, who must be present. I finally found the car after searching online for days, because I remembered I put a AirTag in it because it was his car. I believe they wrongfully removed the car because we had the hospital permission to park it there. Will be picking it up today 4/6/2026, asking for authorization form for towing and speaking to the lawyer this afternoon as well as filing bbb complaint.
