I want to give some background to my story so you can understand my review. I worked across the street from Al's for about 2 months. During my time across the street my car broke down. Not spectacular, in any way shape or form!! I went across the street to ask for help, not once, not twice, but quite a handful of times and they were more than happy to help. I never got the names of the gentleman who 1.) Helped push my car into my old jobs parking lot 2.) The gentleman who loaned me a tool or two and a hand to help when I had to replace my battery in the parking lot [one of thise screws were stripped and a pain in the a**] and 3.) The lovely older guy who told me what the issue was with the car almost got it to start after 2 days of sitting like a duck. Also need to mention they recommended a great mechanic who fixed the car IN A DAY. So they're knowledgeable people here. Plus, in the end they did tow my car to the mechanic so overall in a bad situation they did everything and more to help me. This business has been around for a long time and you can tell why. They're all friendly and willing to lend a hand when you need it. I still have to go experience the auction because who doesn't need a good working car. Car was impounded here with all my valuables. I went to retrieve my personal belongings and my laptop was missing (all my belongings were a mess, they clearly went through my car). I asked the employees and no one knew anything about it. I asked to speak to a manager and they said they knew nothing about it and that no one opened my car. I brought up calling the police and then they all of a sudden remembered they took it out of my car to "protect it". I got home and my laptop was in recovery mode because they attempted to login numerous times. I called to complain and they acted like they didn't know. I have a security system on my laptop and have pictures of the employees trying to break into my laptop. read more

The mechanic that pulled up checked the car, confirmed it was the battery and recommended replacing it. I called Al's towing after my car died for a second time during a trip to Southern California. The response time was great...I think the tow truck driver was at my location within 15 minutes, and my car was towed to the dealership for repair within 30 minutes. Overall, the response time was great, the driver was friendly and courteous (not to mention cute!), and everything was done for a fairly reasonable price (~$70 for a five-mile tow). My transmission blew out of my 2008 Jetta and I was basically stuck on the up-hill side of Rose St. and Grand Ave. (Escondido). Traffic wasn't able get around as I was literally blocking the lane heading up Rose St. The worst part of the entire situation was I could literally see the Escondido German Auto shop that I would end up going to, but had no way of getting there other than a tow. I pulled up Yelp and Al's was the first one that popped up. I can't thank them enough - they mentioned it could be up to 45 minutes before they arrived and it was within 15 minutes. Absolutely amazing. The price was very, very reasonable, the employees were awesome and after being a little worked up from the situation, J P was great conversation and helped make light of the situation. I had even called them back to have the car towed back home as the transmission replacement will be done somewhere else. I got a flat tire in Escondido. I'm not familiar with the area, so I did a search here on Yelp to see what towing businesses were nearby. Al's Towing picked up quickly when I called. I gave them my location to the best of my ability and she told me someone would be there within 30 min to help me change the tire, and that the cost was $60. I called back a few minutes later with a more exact address of my location which the woman who answered the phone said she would pass on to the driver coming to my car. It only took 15 minutes for the tow truck to arrive (this was a Thursday morning around 8:45). James, the driver, was friendly and efficient. He put the spare tire on my car with a smile as we chatted, and even noticed my spare was a little flat so filled it for me. He also recommended some places to purchase new tires in the area. There seems to be a big difference in how you get service with this co. If you call for a tow they are on it. If they tow your car from somewhere because of registration issues etc. They do not notify you until a collection agency gets in touch of course that is after they run up storage fees and caution the car off. I sold a car and the car was towed away months later and because I was the last known owner I get a collection bill in the mail. Somehow motor vehicle is aware I don't own the car . I don't get reg bills for it. I've heard that they do this to people but I didn't believe it until now. I will never give them any kind of business. read more

The guy running this place is seriously rude. I've never dealt with someone so unprofessional in my life. After towing our car we had to wait outside his gate for 40 minutes after her arrived with our car. He just kept calling our phone saying he needed to do paper work. He towed our car 9 miles and we got at the place right when he did and charged $356 dollars. He had to have paid people to give him good yelp reviews but then again its from years ago.
