I got tired of buying small bottle of paint for my car. I paid $32 (0.4ml) for white car paint that matches my car's original paint on Amazon. That was good for a few small knicks. Yes, you read it right, .4ml. I came here with my car's paint code, which is located on the driver's side door. I got an entire spray can of paint for $25 dollars. It took about 10 minutes for them to mix the paint for me. The color match is 99.9%, my eyes can't even see the difference. I had a terrible experience at this store and want to warn others before they waste their money. I spoke with the owner about getting paint for my pure white Volkswagen, and they assured me they could help. Following their instructions, I visited in person to place the order and paid $28 for a tiny amount of paint--barely enough to cover a fender. As a first-time DIY painter, I asked the staff many questions, including which sandpaper to use, but the employee was clueless, didn't seek help, and even tried to charge me twice because they forgot I'd already paid. No one advised me on proper application, like priming or scuffing the clear coat before painting. I mistakenly painted directly onto the clear coat, and the low-quality clear coat I bought from them left a sticky, mildew-like finish with dirt embedded in it after drying. It dried like jelly, not like normal clear coat, even after two coats. When I called to explain this to the manager, he was rude, hung up on me, and said, "We don't answer questions. You should know how to do everything." He bragged about being in business for 73 years, implying they don't need to care about customers or competition. The paint cans are a rip-off--less than half-filled, and you have to spray at a specific angle or it just shoots air. To paint a hood, expect to spend $60-$90 for their tiny cans. When I told the manager they should advise customers better, especially given the high prices, he dismissed me completely. I won't be back, and I urge others to read reviews before visiting. Found SLC online and noticed their website had a link to their online store. Browsed and eventually purchased a few things on the store with a store pickup time later that day. Got there to pick it up, and I'm told there's no such order. Matter of fact, they even said they don't even use it/untouched for at least a year. Some dude sitting in the back, yelling up front to me, pretty much told me I'm SOL; deal with it through my payment method. Personally, a simple solution would be to close the online store down and remove it from the website. I take it that may be too difficult. Took my business to ATC Colors instead. read more

I got my paint, great instructions, and it was quite affordable! At a shop, you can easily spend hundreds of dollars paying a pro to fix even small scratches, chips and dings in your car's paint. If you've got the cash, and want an absolutely perfect job, then a shop is probably for you. If you are into saving cash and willing to learn a relatively simple paint repair process, buying touch-up paint is the way to go! I went to San Leandro Color to get some touch up paint and spoke with Dennis at the counter. The thing I really appreciated about my experience is that I wasn't pressured to buy anything and Dennis didn't make me feel stupid for not knowing what I was talking about. Instead, he took a look at my car, offered free instruction on how to do the job properly, and then, in the end, let me go my own route, which ended up being the cheaper route. :) Overall, I had a good experience at San Leandro Color. Update: I downgraded my review to four stars. When I opened the touch-up paint, I found the brush hairs all spread apart and adding paint to them didn't help to clump them back together. The brush was useless, so I just pulled it off the cap and bought my own fine tip brush from the store. I can't believe SLC is ok with having junk brushes on their touch-up bottles. And, since you can't return it, you're stuck with it. Seems like getting a quality brush on the touch-up bottle is a pretty major part of buying touch up paint. What a great experience. I spent about 2 1/2 hours in there today. I had a good idea about painting my car before but not a great idea. Leo and Mr R were very patient with me ( I have no idea what that other reviewer was talking about.) while they didn't offer straight tutorials, they answered all my questions and are very knowledgeable about the entire process. Leo was super cool and was willing to work w me a little on the price of a very nice spray gun and threw in some mixing cups and small things that I really appreciated. Knowing that entire process was invaluable. I've had terrible experiences at finish masters. Way better here. I really felt like they listened to what i needed and recommended everything i needed. This place is not as bad as some make it seem. Of course YMMV. I came here based on a friend's recommendation. Despite what others have said, I've decided to come here anyways. Today, I ordered Toyota 040 in a can, which came out to 24.99 each (I ordered three), they also carry 2K (2 component) clear. Fortunate for me, SL Color is only a few miles away. I ordered my paint code over the counter, and about 10 minutes later I was walking out with everything I needed. There were a few people ahead, so I just want took a look around. There's not much to see around the counter. Unlike some other paint stores, there's product laying around you can browse. It's not so bad. I didn't really have any questions aside from ordering my stuff, but all in all a good and helpful staff. read more

This place is fantastic. Yes they are in a scary city lol, but their prices are spot on and they carry everything you could possibly need to paint your car. Not only that but they have a color scanner that will tell you what color your part is and you can get single stage spray cans. You don't even need a spray gun!! Fix your fender or bumper etc for cheap! These guys and Global Auto Parts in Hayward and Boom cheap fixes all day long. I can't say enough great things about this place. Be careful. The prices are outrageous, but I guess if you want a specialty product, they've got you. If what they sold me would work, I wouldn't mind. But I bought a 2 oz. bottle of touch-up paint with a small brush applicator for, I think, about $30 (wow!) which was not a very good match in the first place, but then dried up into glue after the initial use. If you have this much (more than just a few dabs), wouldn't you expect to be able to use it for a while as you get more dings on your car? This appears to be a one-time use product, but they sure don't represent it as that (or charge you for that). The staff is never really friendly there, but when calling to get more info, the guy was close to rude. I realize paint doesn't last forever, but it should be able to last for more than 1 or 2 immediate uses. read more

One pint of color match paint and clear coat with reducer amd activator came out to 160$ its very expensive but thats to be expected when buying automotive paint. My only complaint would be the attitudes these people have, made me feel i wasnt welcome or that i had no business being there..weird.. and im not given alot of details on what type of paint or mixing ratios and there wasnt instructions on the can but since my being there seemed to bother them i didnt bother asking i just went home and decided to call them the next day, the woman who answered the phone got a rude tone rather quickly when i was confused about what she had asked me she had raised her voice and with more of an annoyed sterness had repeated herself. If you are at work you are there for the customer im not bothering you at home on your time. I think its a shame so many businesses have lost touch with what customer service means and how important it is for repeat business and overall business image. After all that the paint they gave me was too dark..and i live over an hour and a half away. Wont be returning i give 2 stars only because atleast one person in the back who had made the paint was actualy more pleasant and when i had a question he didnt know the answer but he took the time to ask someone else and made sure i got one. thanks bro read more
