This is Athletic Director Gordon Johnson of LPS Hayward High School and I would like to say that our school has used San Jose Characters for several of our school trips. They have the large buses and their drivers have been outstanding. On our latest trip one of their drivers, Julio Santiago, was outstanding. He was very helpful in so many ways. My wife was in a wheelchair and he opened up the side of the bus and assisted her getting in and securing her for our trip. He also supply our players with waters and was a very safe and friendly driver. Their bus was extremely clean and very comfortable. I just wanted to call and get a rough estimate on how much two 56 passenger charter bus' would cost before I booked. I had my company card in hand expecting to go ahead with the reservation. Instead, I was greeted with someone with an attitude over the phone. "hang up and email if you want a quote" *click*. That's fine. I will take my business elsewhere. read more

I booked almost 9 months before my wedding, and I told them how windy the road was and they said their buses could make it up the hill. I didn't know there was a size restraint to going on this road. I booked 55 person buses 3 days before my wedding i received a call saying their 55 and 45 person buses could not make it up there and their smaller buses were already booked that weekend. LUCKY ME. I changed to the 45 person buses and was told I would receive a refund. So they practiced the route, normally it would take 30 minutes. ended up at 1 hour and 15 minutes. The buses made it up there and made it back and because of road construction on 17 it took them 2 hours to make it back. No research on road constructions. Either way I still haven't got my refund on the different bus size, I have a feeling that the lady Sara didn't want to talk to me and after the 2 hour drive home after a wedding 2 of my friends got sick on the bus, so I am guessing she used it for a cleaning fee. However, I would have liked to know about this!!!!!! I WISH I WOULD HAVE KNOWN I WOULD HAVE GONE WITH MINI BUSES WITH LE GRANDE AFFAIR, NOW THAT IS AN AWESOME COMPANY!!!! We've been using Royal Coach tour buses for years now with an annual retreat that I coordinate. Their service is top notch, reliable but quite pricey. And with the state of California's budget, an educator needs to roll like a baller on a budget. (aka...find a new bus company).....Though I was very hesitant as I've had horrible experiences with other companies (drivers being reckless, doors slamming on students, etc.) Our support coordinator did some research (thanks Diana R!) and came up with San Jose Charters. I am pleased to say that they were very professional, arrived early, drove cautiously down to Pacific Grove, and even took pictures for us. It's not an easy thing to drive 40 college students in a bus for over an hour but Steve did a great job. We'll absolutely refer them to our other campus colleagues :) read more

We hired San Jose Charters for our wedding. I've rented other bus companies before for work events and have never had a very good experience, this was very different. Sara, the Sales Manager, was great on the phone and got me all booked, answered all my questions and was able to handle the somewhat complicated arrangements. The day of the wedding the bus was early, the driver knew where we were going, had directions, knew the schedule - that has never happened before. Bus was in great shape too. A great experience with San Jose Charters, booked a 45/47 passenger charter to take a group of us up over the hill, hwy 17 from San Jose to Aptos during 5pm rush hour! We were all worried about making it to our destination on time but no need. Our bus showed up early, clean and with the best driver ever, Jonathon! He was very personable, professional and knowledgeable about the drive. We had he best experience with San Jose Charters, would and will recommend to any one! as far as customer service goes, I spoke with Angela and had great customer service with her also. read more

I coach a couple of sports teams in the local area and use SJC for all our road game transportation. I first started using SJC when our previous bus provider cancelled our entire multi-bus order two weeks before the start of the season. Not only did SJC step in and save our kids season, everything (paperwork, payment approval) was signed, sealed and delivered within 5 days of the initial phone call. They are dependable, professional and committed to supporting their local community. We have never been late for a game or late coming home, and they are incredibly honest. Last year, one of my coaches unintentionally listed an additional service that we didn't need for a trip. No-one realized this until days after we'd used the bus service and signed off on everything. Instead of billing us, SJC immediately refunded that charge. I would not go anywhere else and have no problem recommending them to other coaches and teams in the area. read more

We hired San Jose Charters to take 50+ friends and family up to Napa for wine tasting and lunch. The bus arrived on time, our guests said the bus was clean and comfortable, and working with them was completely stress free. We ordered 3 charter buses for our wedding guest through San Jose Charters and everything went very smoothly. We shopped prices with various bus companies and found San Jose Charters to be very reasonable. We had one accident on the bus when someone puked, and we also kept the buses a little too late, but it was a very reasonable extra charge in the end. Buses were late to begin with to pick us up we had 60 people out in freezing cold/rain had to call the emergency number...drivers were cool, its was hard to communicate..cause we didnt speak spanish very well, but they did the best they could..one bus had non-running water in bathroom, old germ cleaner, some tv's didn't work in one bus ...they smelled so bad after day 3 like ammonia and urine ...they were late to pick us up for ceremony ...I really would never use them again we paid for 2 bus for this origination ...and they all were very disappointed 60 ppl...very very disappointed ..they do look great out side....the one bus had transmission issues ..when they backed it up, it was so bad noise of bad transmission woke my kids up.... read more

We hired a 47-passenger bus over the weekend for our two-day trip to North Lake Tahoe & Reno. Our contact, Sara, always responded promptly and was very helpful with trip planning. The driver is very nice and professional. The bus is comfortable and well maintained except for one overhead monitor which was a little loose and made unpleasant noises throughout the trip. We hired a 30 passenger mini-coach for our wedding day transportation, as I didn't want my family from out of town trying to navigate through San Francisco. San Jose Charters had a fair price, and a 30 passenger mini-coach (those were somewhat difficult to come by). Sara emailed me the day before, and I was able to get our driver's contact info. Our driver Antonio showed up on time at the hotel, and he took us around San Francisco, and then down to Daly City. It made our wedding day so much easier and less stressful. He was there when we called at each stop on our itinerary and was consistently prompt and courteous. Outstanding job to Antonio for making our wedding day so much better. I would definitely recommend San Jose Charters, and I would use them again if I need any sort of chartering in the future. I can't emphasize how nice it was to have such a good dependable driver on our wedding day, and I'm really happy that we went with San Jose Charters. read more

We used San Jose Charters to take our campers to a Giant's game. We had about 50 people on the bus. The bus was on time, but our driver got lost and made a few dangerous maneuvers on the road. She almost hit a car while making a turn by At&T park. We would have been late for the game if one of our staff wasn't standing next to the driver on the bus and telling her where to go. Despite this, we still paid the extra $80 for keeping the bus 1 hour over our contracted time. It just may be our driver on that day, but I am hesitant to use this company in the future. read more

Office Staff is just terrible!!! Never call for a quote they never have the answers. I have friends that have tried this company and They were so disappointed about the driver, I believe his name is Rigob something...... Just think twice before booking with this company. Don't ask for the cost of a bus trip with this company because you will get a surprise upon boarding. Not only was the bus and bathroom on the bus dirty, but this would be the time they let you know of minimums and additional fees. The $500 bus ride for charity is now costing $635. To top that off, they just emailed me that they did not receive my $500. They are correct because they charged me $515. The $15 is for using a credit card which they say technically goes to the credit card company. Well, technically this is illegal from what I understand. read more
