We stayed in the French room and it was really nice. Comfortable bed, functional kitchenette, and a nice porch to sit and relax. The units are not huge so really for a couple only. Several friends were in 3 other rooms and all indicated they were happy with the place. If you want to be in downtown Christoval at a reasonable price, I can't imagine any of the other properties are better. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is to be reasonable with expectations. No complaints.

There were spiderwebs everywhere, black dirt in the freezer, mold in the coffee pot and dirty dishes left in the dishwasher. We literally had to wash every dish in the kitchen before we were able to use them. Multiple burners on the stove didn't work, there were several safety hazards in the flooring with cracks inside and outside as well as the upstairs glass sliding-doors and the lava hot water in the kitchen. They were also very picky about where we parked because we were going to "hurt the tree roots." Also, the owner rarely answers phone calls and if you leave a voicemail she will respond with a text. I had to request a few things to be restocked such as dish soap and toilet paper. She brought it over quickly with a few rolls of toilet paper and dish soap in a hand dispenser that looked like she pulled from her own kitchen. Definitely won't be returning to the Boathouse. It is worth the 20 minute drive to San Angelo just to stay in a place that is clean.

However, I wanted to stay somewhere with real character, and the Angoria completely won me over. The rooms, while compact like a traditional motel room, are beautifully renovated, spotless, and feature very comfortable beds. The staff was warm and friendly, making our group feel welcome despite us being a bit noisy at the bar and pool. Another nice touch: while the bar officially closes at 10:00 PM, the bartender has the discretion to keep it open until midnight if guests are enjoying the bar and pool area. Speaking of the pool, it is a bit smaller than it appears online, but that wasn't an issue for us since we didn't end up swimming. A couple of quick heads-up for future guests: Road Noise: Traffic on Bryant and Beauregard can get loud in the evenings, but fortunately, the hotel provides earplugs to help block it out. EV Charging: Avoid the on-site ChargePoint charger unless absolutely necessary. It cost $27 for just 2 hours for a fraction of a full charge--way overpriced! Management should really consider renegotiating rates or switching providers. The charger issue didn't ruin my experience. My buddies and I had a fantastic stay, and I would definitely stay at the Angoria again!
