Run, don't walk, away from this firm. Sonny, the owner, is a true HotHead, and does not listen to any of the needs of his customers. They will call you and make you feel like a deadbeat demanding payment for work before they even tell you how much you owe them. They were servicing my Father-in-law's pool, and when he took ill and was gone for an extended period of time, they figured they could get away without cleaning the pool, but still billing us. I had to go weekly to see the work was done, and caught them several times not doing the job. There are a lot of reputable pool services out there, especially in So. California. Do yourself a favor, and stay away from this one. My experience with them is over 20 years, and everything went down the tubes when the current owner took over. The owner's name is Sunny and I cannot recommend his services. Questionable business ethics and practices. I am on the board of directors for a condominium complex and we need a spa cover. Sunny, gave our secretary a quote for a spa cover for $700. I wanted to do a review of the product, but he had no samples. So I asked for the website of the manufacturer. He told me he didn't think the manufacturer had a website but he would call and ask if they did. He told me he called and confirmed there was no website. I became suspicious, because what real business doesn't have a website? Sunny then gave us gave me a brochure for the spa cover. I got the manufacturer's name and looked them up online myself. They do indeed have a website. This is called lying. Their spa covers can be ordered online. He was attempting to charge us a 61% markup. No wonder he didn't want to give me the website. Other issues: My calls always went to an answering machine and we're not returned promptly - sometimes for days. His store was closed on a day I tried to visit durring regular business hours. He is flat out rude on the phone - to the point that I actually asked him if he knew how to talk to a customer. My recommendation is that you look elsewhere. read more

This pool service is terrible. We told them in a letter not to do anything extra without telling us first since we are on a strict budget. They keep adding charges to our bill making it hard to live. Also they are only there to clean about 5 min and when they leave the only way you know they were there is that the pool motor is on. The last time they clean our pool they left a number of algae lines . They did a rush job and the pool look horrible and we had a pool party the next day. It was so embarrassing . Plus they charge 15 dollars more than everyone else out there.. And to make things worse the people that clean your pool barely speak english which makes things hard when trying to ask them to do something.. Do yourself a favor and hire anyone else out there cause this company will just disappoint you.. read more

This guy is Terrible. At first he came on very competent. Came out after hours to get me started. Got the pool running ... things went well for two seasons ... Then things started going south. The boss guy just doesn't listen ... when something goes wrong (algae in the pool), it's always your fault! who ever heard of service??? The prices st the store are fair, but that is where I need to stop. The pool service side of the business is not very good. Seemed like we had a different pool guy every month. I think they sold off the pool service side and just transferred to another company without notification or introduction. They gave out our gate keys to a stranger. We have tried to get our keys back to no avail or cooperation from San andell. We had to have locks rekeyed. read more

I bought a house with a pool, being a first time home owner, I never knew what to expect out of a pool service. I have been asking Sonny why my pool has algae all the time. I stayed with him for 2 years for what reason I have no idea. He gave me some lame excuse about living near a lot of trees, etc. The kicker was that he yelled at me over the phone one day when I asked him to check out my pool. The owner is truly a hot head. Moved into a house with a pool - local to the store. I like to patronize local shops. Attempted this one for 6 months. Owner is extremely rude. Closes shop earlier than posted on random occasions. Prices are better elsewhere, which I have found since I no longer use this place. Stopped using them two weeks ago when the owner yelled at me and accused me of lying about using my bank card to buy products. His employee routinely accepted my bank card....owner informed me on that day I couldn't use it for anything under a certain price. Okay. Got it. No problem. Let it slide this time because I've been coming here and your employees have been accepting it, but I won't do it next time. No? You'd rather yell at me and call me a liar. Ok. Right. Er. Right. That makes total sense. My cash, my bank card and I will go elsewhere. Yikes. What an ass. Perhaps you should take some business classes or perhaps someone to teach you some manners. And for the curious: the amount was $0.37 under what he was saying the bank card could be used for. read more

I would not do business with this establishment, went to get information on serving my pool heater, man said $150 going rate and turned his back on us without further explanation and proceeded to get on the phone, didn't even acknowledge our presence or offer any suggestions! Getting San Andell as your pool service is like dealing with a call center. They are clueless about pool service and equipment and extremely defensive and confrontational when it comes to being questioned about why certain things happen. They sub everything out (i.e. Chris Barstow from CB Electrical for equipment, a true charlatan and con artist, who'll quote you one thing and charge you another once he sees the type of house you live in) and never follow up to see if everything went well. I only have one experience with this company, and it was satisfactory. I needed a new pump for my pool. I went to their store and they explained the differences between the different units. I decided on one and said I wanted it. He called me a few days later to look at the job, and came out and gave me a price. I got bids from 2 other companies, and they were all about the same. He tried real hard to sell me a new filter, saying the new pump was much more powerful, and my old filter might blow up. I did not believe that, and I told him so, because the new pump can be adjusted to run at a wide range of speeds, so I figured it could be adjusted to put out the same pressure as the old one, so he said he would research it and get back to me. I went to a chain store in the area and asked them what they thought, and they agreed with me. This guy called me back a couple of days later, and said a new filter would not be necessary. Then he said he would recommend putting in a bigger pump, because it was a better pump. I also disagreed with that , and he finally said we could go with the original unit. He called back a day or two later, and told me when it was scheduled to be installed. The installer showed up on the day he said he would, and did a nice installation. I am a mechanically minded person, and I watched while he worked, and asked lots of questions, which he was happy to answer. I was also pleased that after he programmed the controls, he took some time to show me how to change the program if I wanted to later on. read more

RUN !!!! They screwed up our pool to a point to where we might have to re-plaster it. Sonny the owner is the biggest prick you can imagine. We had San Andell service our pool from Nov 2008 to May 2009. All was fine until all of a sudden, within 2 weeks, our plaster went from silky smooth to sandpaper. One of his guys messed up the chemical balance in the pool, causing a calcium build-up on the plaster. The calcium level was through the roof !!! The spa is so rough you can't sit in it without tearing your skin up. We had two independent plaster companies (and another pool service company) come out and they all confirmed that this issue was caused by San Andell Pools. When we confronted Sonny the owner, he started to have a serious attitude problem. He was on our property yelling at us that it's our own fault, being VERY confrontational and righteous. He didn't even listen to half of what we had to say before yelling "it's not my fault". STAY AWAY !!!! read more

The man who owns this store Sunny is terrible. He is into MONEY and he ALWAYS tries to sell you more than you need. He has no customer service skills and is a big grouch every time I walk in the door. I have given them business for a year or two, and he hasn't changed one bit. I have finally given up. He sold me chlorine, and it leaked in my garage. I told him and he didn't replace it. He complains because I park in front of the store. Then he complains because I don't leave my empty gallon bottles in the back. I have never met anyone who complains so much and is so UNHAPPY no matter what you do. He claims that he has 5 security cameras around his place. It's really a shame because his wife is very nice and helpful. They also have a young son, and I just shudder to think that he may turn out to be just like the father. Since I left, I have gone to Leslie's.s and what a BIG change. They are so polite, helpful, and just appreciate the business. read more

So I get to my buddy's house to chill for over a week away from my NYC digs to explore LA. He's away on business and he just bought this nice little house on Paloma with a great view of the mountains. Use the pool he says, which is a luxury where I come from. But one look at his pool and I didn't even want to jump in - and this is what I came to California for! He's got nothing in the house to clean the pool since he just moved in! I find this closest pool place about 5 minutes down the road and they figured out quickly that this city slicker hadn't the slightest idea. But the lady was so helpful and didn't oversell anything. I really needed advice and instructions, so going to Walmart for this stuff ain't gonna cut it. Got a skimmer, new cartridges for the filter, a tub of chlorine tablets to start. She looked at pics I took of the filter and knew what cartridges I needed - that was real good because I had no idea. She told me to call her any time to describe what I notice going on in the pool and even offered to have it delivered to the house by the next day if I needed anything else! I was able to swap out the cartridges myself and cleaned up the pool. Anyway, great service at this place and I'll tell my buddy to sign up for their service plan because he's out of town a lot. Now he's gotta pay me back. read more
