It is made with toor dal (pigeon peas), a variety of vegetables, tamarind broth, and a special spice blend called sambar powder. Sambar is a staple in South Indian cuisine and is commonly served with idli, dosa, vada, or steamed rice. They normally served it with a dosa or rice but I declined it. Damn! This is hot and yummy! It's like a soup. Not so spicy. For my main meal, I'm having the Lamb Pasanda. Pasanda is a rich, mild, and creamy South Asian curry made with yogurt, cream, and ground nuts like almonds or cashews. Originating from the royal Mughal courts, its name comes from the word pasandemeaning "favourite". It is similar to a korma but features a distinctive nutty flavor and a slightly tangy yogurt depth. Despite this, she still refused to make the food, explaining that the ticket had not come through on their end and that they didn't know whether they would get paid. I explained that I didn't understand how the second order could also not be coming through, especially since I had just placed it while she watched me go through the ordering process. She could also see the two pending charges on my bank account, but continued to say that they didn't know whether they would receive payment. Rather than trying to find a solution, she continued showing me that orders from other customers had come through earlier in the evening. At that point, I had essentially been charged twice and still couldn't get the food I had ordered. I left without receiving either order and with two pending charges. I ultimately had to dispute the charges with my bank to get them reversed. I'm a very loyal customer when I find a restaurant I like, and I often become a repeat customer and recommend places to others. That's what makes this experience particularly disappointing. I try to support local businesses, but unfortunately, I left feeling like my business simply wasn't wanted. I'm giving 1 star only because Yelp doesn't allow 0 stars.

Would you believe "celebration, or joyous occasion"? Well, I can probably declare that celebration is the right word to describe one of the best lunch specials I've found in months. Now brace yourself, and remove all breakables from the room, when I tell you that you can get a seven course Indian feast of a lunch for just $15. Utsav has 22 lunch specials priced in tiers -$15 for vegetable or chicken, $18 for seafood, and $20 for lamb. You'll find Utsav in the Wethersfield shopping center on the Silas Deane Hwy. All of those lunch specials start with a lightly dressed refreshing salad of greens, shredded carrots, seeded half cucumber slices, and sliced red onions. Now let me tell you about the remaining six courses. Your lunch comes out on a serving tray with lots of bowls - one each for your entrée, Basmati rice, eggplant with zucchini, spinach with potato, rice kheer for dessert (a rice pudding with raisins and nuts), and a separate plate with 3 wedges of Naan bread. I wanted to try something different for my entrée, and since I didn't think I ever had Khorma before, I ordered Chicken Khorma prepared very spicy. Korma is an Indian curry cooked in a yogurt sauce with nuts and spices. There was a good amount of tender chicken cubes, and that spicy curry was wonderful. Same with the rice, bread, and the vegetables, although I did prefer the spinach with potato over the eggplant with zucchini. There was so much rice and bread that I took half of those portions home for another day.
