So delicious! Every order is filled with such care and the staff are so friendly and helpful! This was the first time I ordered and definitely won't be the last

Much to savor, there was. Ventured to Moringa Indian Restaurant and was met with a feast worthy of the Jedi Council. Ordered the Paneer Tikka Masala (medium spice)--a wise choice, it was. Just enough heat to awaken the senses without turning to the Dark Side. Creamy, flavorful, and generous with the paneer. The Cheesy Garlic Naan? Glorious. Melted cheese, garlic, and fluffy naan--like a lightsaber duel between indulgence and comfort. Also tried the Vegetable Spring Rolls--crispy and gone faster than you can say "Order 66." A carafe of water at the table? Brilliant, that is. No need to flag down help like a lost Padawan. Service was quick, friendly, and respectful of the Force (and my time). Prices? More fair than a Jedi trial. Ambiance was calm, clean, and cozy. If you're seeking flavorful vegetarian options or just a well-executed Indian meal in Waterbury, this is the spot. Go you must. Eat you shall. Regret it, you will not.

Best Indian food in Connecticut ! We have tried many of the Indian restaurants locally and this one was far superior. Very flavorful! We had the Paneer Dosa and Paneer tikka Massala with chilli naan . Great service . Reasonably priced . Cozy decor . Located close to the Waterbury Costco .

Finally open after some construction delays. Worth the wait. Nice to have a decent (Northern) Indian restaurant nearby. In a strip mall with a strip mall type interior, but it's all about the food. The owners were there. They said they had no business/restaurant experience, and it showed, but they were very pleasant, friendly, accommodating, and attentive. We asked about a vegetarian tikka masala and they obliged. It was good but lacked strong flavor I'd expect. We had the palak paneer, the dish I really base on whether or not I'm going to come back to an Indian restaurant. It too was good, but lacked depth. We also had some garlic naan and onion dosa which came with 3 sauces. Both of those were excellent and very generous portions. I really like biryanis but can't find it how I like it. Their version is like all others around, even the not spicy version is quite spicy. It was ok, but a bit dry. I asked about the version i like and it turns out it's a middle eastern twist that they don't make in traditional Indian restaurants. The version I like has pistachios, cashews and currents. It's a more moist and sweet version. So, all in all, a decent experience. I think the cook is holding back on giving the full Indian depth of flavor. They're new in every respect so hopefully it will improve. We'll be back.

We ordered appetizers to get a good range of variety. The service was sooooo slow. And the glasses seemed as if they had been sitting on the table forever. The food was tasty. I had the mustard shrimp and potato paratha. Both were amazing. My one complaint of the shrimp was that some pieces were without tails which gave the appearance that they were left over. It just seemed odd. The temperature of the shrimp were a bit under warmed for my liking but the flavor was amazing. They gave three sauces- that were all bursting with unique flavor. Some were spicy. I did see they were preparing a ton of uber eats deliveries and there appeared to be one person managing all of that. So it makes sense for the slow service. I think I'd prefer to order takeout to dine in. Although the dining room is gorgeous, I wish they had someone to be more attentive to customers and describe menu options with a bit of feeling. Our waiter was a bit distracted so he seemed uninterested in conversation when we had questions.

I did not expect to be as impressed as I was! I wanted to see what the difference in the chicken dishes so I had the boneless tandoori chicken tikka, chicken malai boti. Both are boneless chicken. The tandoori chicken tikka was my favorite, spicy but not overpowering, super juicy a lot of seasoning. The chicken malai boti was also juicy, but it is a very subtle light seasoning. Not too salty, not spicy, still with very nice char on it. I like that the chicken dishes did not come with rice as I don't eat it and it's a waste when I order elsewhere. I felt the prices reflected this, and you can get a side of rice if you would like! I also got the appetizer pakora chicken. It has a very light coating on it and is fried chicken, definitely was made fresh, I'm not sure how I would describe the seasoning but it was very tasty and unique. I didn't care for the dipping sauces, just personal preference. There's another very well-known Indian restaurant in town that I ordered from often and I have to say A&B is giving them a run for their money. Definitely will order again, if you like healthy fresh chicken at a reasonable price check them out!

Our waitress was very nice and gave us plenty of time to dig through their rather large menu. One thing I appreciated was that while our waitress was attentive, checking in periodically to see if we had decided, she didn't rush us to make a decision. We settled on trying the onion pakoda and the chilly shrimp but there wasn't anything chilly about it. I'm not exactly sure how to describe it but the chilly shrimp was covered in a sort of Indian general Tso sauce, which was delicious. It had a nice kick to it. We discovered that combining the shrimp and fried onion was an excellent pairing. Also I highly recommend trying the mango lassi, such a refreshing way to cap off some heat from the sauce. We ordered butter chicken, chicken Tikka masala, and a side of garlic Naan. I generally don't do carbs so I had Naan of it.... I'm sorry. Any who our food came out in a reasonable time and I wasn't disappointed. It was quite good, the only thing I'd say is that we ordered our dishes with medium spice and there wasn't much spice to it. If you're a fan of spicy food maybe give the high spice level a try and order a mango lassi to help with the heat. But generally the food was good. The only other minor gripes was it was kind of chilly, in the restaurant. Usually the cold doesn't bother me but I was noticing it and my poor girlfriend had to wear extra layers while we ate. Aside from these things it was a nice experience, the food was good, the service was great, and I'd visit again if I were in the area. Check them out if you like Indian food.

My only regret and disappointment is that it's been open for seven years and this is the first time I've discovered this wonderful find in the heart of New Haven. I have been looking to come to this place for sometime, but you do need to do reservations for a Saturday night. I didn't want two weeks earlier through Resy. Full disclosure, I get a credit from American Express as part of their partnership with Resy and this is one of the locations that you can obtain that benefit from. We arrived shortly before our reservation time and waited in line as two other groups were turned away as they were all booked up for dinner until much later in the evening. Once inside, I understood as it is not a large dining area. The motive is very Indian forward with images of transportation themes from India, including bicycles on the ceiling above the tables. To start with, the drinks were some of the most flavorful options I have had in some time all with a very traditional Indian twist. I am not big on coconut or tequila, but my wife loved her coconut tequila drink. I thought the Manhattan was a big hit as the date balanced out the flavors perfectly. Even the cold drink, my daughter got reminded me of getting the same back in India. I personally was not a big fan of the mango lassi. My son got but he loved it. It was a bit thick for my taste. With regards to the food options, this reminded me of being in Manak Chok in India. For those that don't know, that is an area in western India known for its street foods and late night dining. The smells and tastes of the food would fit right in there. We started with the Dahi puri. This was a big hit for the entire family. You get six items in the order and this is a great place to start, especially if you like the balance of the street food. The Chaat Dog was also a big hit. We got the option with Lamb covered in chaat. The role was toasted perfectly and the balance of the flavors really hit well. The entire family enjoyed the chicken stuffed naan with the side of the sauce. I will admit it had a bit of a kick, so be careful for those who are not looking for spice forward foods. I have always been a big fan of Chole Bhature (chick peas and puffed whole wheat fried bread). The one here was nearly perfect as served. I was saying to my wife, that it could only be made better with a little bit of raw onion on top. As luck would have it, the waitress overheard my comment and next thing you know, we had a side of chopped onions and lime, the perfect topping for this dish. With regards to the biryani, it was flavorful, though it has never been my favorite thing. It comes with a side of raita as well. Again, that is not something I really enjoy. However, all three of my family enjoyed this immensely, and the serving was so generous, we had a decent amount of leftovers after our meal. We finished the night with some mango kulfi. It was too large scoops as you can see by the picture. This was the perfect sharing dessert for the four of us to conclude our meal. As noted above, our waitress was super attentive and very quick to bring out the dishes and drinks throughout our dinner. I will note that the price point is also great for New Haven restaurants as the complete meal with drinks for all and a dessert came out to $120 before tax and tip. This is definitely a place I would strongly recommend for any in the area. If you're not close by, book a reservation before you come down so it's not to miss out on this amazing experience. It is definitely worth a try if you want a traditional Indian street food experience. They do also have options like more traditional Punjabi style restaurants on the menu, but we focused more so on the street food options during our first visit. I will update further as I experience this place again which I expect to happen in the very near future.

We recently moved closer and I decided to try it for a work at home lunch day. I did no research before going. It turns out that Himalaya does not presently have a dine in option, which is fine because I live nearby. I walked in to look at the menu and order. I'm not sure if the person who helped me was having an off day, or maybe he's used to regular customers ordering ahead and didn't like having to change his routine, but he was not particularly welcoming. No smile or friendly greeting. I'm fairly sure that he rolled his eyes when I went to pay with cash. I don't know who this person was relative to the restaurant, but it didn't set a good tone. I ordered from the Lunch Specials. I ordered the Chicken Saag special which came with Basmati Rice and Naan. I don't remember the exact cost, but I remember being surprised at how inexpensive it was. Everything on the Lunch Special menu was inexpensive relative to places I frequent. I was told that it would be 10 minutes. I returned around 15 minutes later and my order was ready. All of the food was at least OK to pretty good, but didn't really pop for me. I'm much more familiar with Indian restaurants than I am with Nepalese and Himalayan restaurants, but some of the dishes share names. I'm not sure if there are seasoning and other variations in Indian versus Nepalese cuisine, or if any variations are more based upon the chefs cooking the meals. In any event, Himalaya's version of both the Saag and the chicken in the Saag were different than I'm used to. I prefer the way the Saag is seasoned in my favorite Indian places in CT. I feel like the chicken in most Indian restaurants is kebab style and is cooked in a tandoori oven. Himalaya's chicken had a rougher texture and seemed like it was perhaps roasted. It was pretty good, but probably my least favorite Saag dish I've had in a while. The Basmati rice was fine. The naan was OK. The texture and flavor didn't measure up to my favorite Indian restaurants. I have multiple nearby Indian restaurants that I prefer to Himalaya. In light of that and my less than positive service experience, I'm unlikely to return to Himalaya. However, given Himalaya's strong overall rating, it's clear that others have had good experiences and maybe you'll have better luck than I did. And as I said, the lunch specials are a good value. 3 Stars
