This restaurant, food and staff have been amazing. I am very confused as to why they are permanently closed?! Please say it ain't so!!!

Overall it was an excellent experience. The food was expertly prepared and very good, spiced to our request, which is t always the case. The service was quick and friendly and they decorated the space very nicely, warm and inviting. The menu is extensive and in my experience, had many unique dishes, especially the desserts. The missing star is because the waitress wouldn't consider asking the chef about preparing a certain dish. They had Kashmiri naan on the menu, not something usually found here in this area. My favorite biryani is a Kashmiri biryani. They obviously had all the ingredients, and I was also told it used to be on the menu, but she wouldn't even ask. I haven't seen Kashmiri anything on an Indian restaurant menu since 20+years ago so there was excitement, but then some disappointment. read more

This newly opened Indian restaurant exceeds all our expectations. The dine-in experience is absolutely a pleasure. They offer everything we need in a fine dining place: a nice ambiance, impeccable service, delicious food, and a variety of menu options that please everyone (vegans, vegetarians, and meat lovers alike). Kochin Hut is the best Indian restaurant in our state right now. I can't recommend this place enough to everyone who likes Indian food and who enjoys trying new cuisine. It's totally worth it. What an amazing restaurant! From the food to the service...everything was impeccable. Our server was the most attentive and helpful when selecting a meal to satisfy my vegan diet. The chef also modified my partner's meal so that I could try it too! (Of course our server asked our consent about the modification.) I would definitely return for the service - nine like I've experienced before. AND onto the meal - it was delicious and so satisfying. I had a simple chickpea salad to start that was nice and light. My partner had the gobi Manchurian with a medium spice - he called a 6 out of 10. He enjoyed his plate very much! Our mains were a vegan lentil dish with rice, an order of roti, and a dosa with 4 dipping sauces. The lentil dish was a light spice but there was a definite presence of heat - not too much for a spice "wimp" such as myself though. In sum, the service and food were both top notch and Kochin Hut will be a spot on my radar for a return visit the next time I am up in North Haven. Definitely worth the stop! We were heading back home from vacation and needed a place to grab dinner. After seeing the great reviews, we decided to check this spot out--and I can confidently say it lives up to the hype! We ordered the vegetable samosas, chicken curry, lamb vindaloo, masala tea, and carrot halwa. Everything was delicious! There was a slight mix-up with the lamb vindaloo, but the staff was extremely apologetic and quickly resolved the issue. The restaurant was very clean, and the decor was nice. Kochin Hut is North Haven's newest Indian restaurant, so we had to come check it out! The dining room was clean, and the restaurant was well-staffed, which contributed to a good experience through their attentiveness. They had a great menu, and I liked that there were several fusion options as well - I'll definitely have to give those a try next time! We had the masala dosa and we've never seen anything like that before, it was impressive to say the least! Everything we had was delicious. My only critiques are that the chicken in our samosa could've been more flavorful and the garlic naan was a little crispy and could've been softer, but otherwise everything was great! Six of us dined here for Sunday lunch and had a great experience! Ordered tonnes of food as I got too excited with the cuisine (not much Kerala food in the Boston area) - chicken 555 and chicken Malabar curry were my favorite. Nice place, away from the city but super convenient after movie night with the movie theater just down the street across. Glad we found it coz the food was so good and now we will definitely return for more. Fish (salmon) moilee was so delish and the chicken tandoori burger was very tasty! This is a gem and I have been to all the Indian restaurants in the area. This restaurant was recently remodeled and has a very nice aesthetic. It is more upscale than the previous restaurant, but still comfortable feeling. We ordered all vegan dishes the Gobi Manchurian, Crispy Masala Dosa, Daal Tadka and Aloo Gobi. We ordered medium spicy and it was still mild (which is fine) and everything was good and tasted like it was made from fresh ingredients (I could see the fresh ginger even). The portions are good as well. Every staff member was so nice and provided excellence service. I love that this restaurant has great food and service, what else could you ask for? We came out for lunch. I was waiting to try out this place for almost the past two weeks now as I heard several different reviews. My favorite was definitely the fish molie and the flakey porottas (10/10) We also got the fried chicken biriyani (9/10), and the Kerala fish curry with regular naan. According to our taste the only minor thing we thought was the use of tomatoes in the fish curry. The dish would have been more authentic if tamarind was used instead. We also got a fresh like soda! (10/10). Overall The food was delicious. I am so glad the food was worth the hype my friend gave me about the place. The staff was really nice. They were really great with the service. The interior is really neat as the place is just recently opened. We will definitely come back to try other things! read more

Fantastic food and excellent service! This unassuming place is set in a strip mall right off the highway, but is brand new, very cute and full service sit down. Kochin Hut is excellent. The food is delicious, the ambience is warm, and the service is impeccable. This is one of the absolute best Indian restaurants in all of Connecticut, and the prices are very competitive. We will definitely visit again. I was a big fan of Punjabi Kadhi and was so sad to see it go. I was hopeful that Kochin Hut would be as good, but it was the opposite... The restaurant itself had undergone renovations and is beautiful and elegant. However, the food was awful. The tikka masala sauce had so many sweet bell peppers and onions in it, which is not traditional and made it taste like a disgusting fajita fusion. The naan was pretty dry and tasteless. We got take out and the service wasn't bad while we were picking up, but they forgot 3 of the 4 naans that we ordered and did not realize until we were 30 mins away. They would not offer a refund for the missing naan and only offered to comp them off our next order. We will not be returning. read more
