When you crave some authentic indian food and authentic flavours I thought I can only get those when I go back to India. But I am so glad we found this cozy and intimate place on whitney ave in Hamden where we can find an extensive options of vegetarian, vegan food. Don't worry you can park on the back of the restaurant. We tried a lot of food - onion chilli uthapam, veg hakka noodles, honey chilli cauliflower which was our absolute favourite. Ghee masala dosa was huge and super yummy. We tried a full dinner with paneer tikka masala, mix veg korma, malabar paratha and some garlic naan. Can't wait to go back again. The prices are reasonable, they have some delicious looking cakes and desserts which we will have next time when we visit. Service is fast and friendly. You can't ask for anything more. read more

I wanted to eat something that reminded me of home on Diwali, so happy there is good South Indian food by me! The samosa chaat was very flavorful and full of spice. The dosa was very good as well as the sambar. I got a rasmalai to go which was also nice and tasty. The mango lassi was also delicious! The service was prompt and fast! I just noticed this place opened recently and had lunch today. It's a tiny dining room that seats 8 total. Service was great right off the bat. I ordered butter chicken and butter naan which came with rice. It took 10 only minutes to get my food (they cook to order). I really enjoyed my lunch. It wax piping hot, lightly spiced (by request) with plentiful portions. They make the Naan to order which i appreciated. This is a good place and would be a great take out joint for dinner. Don't sleep on this establishment! The ambiance is cute, the owner and employees are lovely, and the food is 5/5 stars. We ordered out this time but the first time we dined in was fantastic. I will continue to come back and try every item on the menu. read more

This is a new Indian restaurant that has limited dining space, so it's a good option for pick up. They offer Indian quick bite options like veg puffs. There Indian style cake slices are delicious. We ordered a cake for my son's birthday and couldn't be more impressed. Needless to say the cake got over before we started the dinner, it was that good. read more

Excellent lamb biryani . I asked for it spicy and got what I asked for. Free parking in back. Food came out quickly . I have been in Connecticut about 8 years and this probably best biryani that I've had since leaving New Jersey. Nice portion !! read more

This is a take out restaurant with limited seating for dine in. Orders are placed at the counter. They serve south and North Indian food. They also have a bakery that offers cakes. Parking is available in the Hamden municipal parking lot behind the business. The restaurant is halal. We tried their chicken puff, a variety of dosas and a chicken dish. The puff was flaky and the chicken filling had a nice Indian spice flavor. The dosas were crisp and the accompanying sambar, tomato and coconut chutneys were tasty. This is a welcome addition to the Hamden food scene. read more

Happened to see the place driving through Hamden and sent a quick pic of the front to my wife. She looked at the menu and said that everything looked, so once she got home, we were off. We tried to not get an appetizer, but hey, we tried. We got the honey chili garlic cauliflower, and it was fantastic. Sweet, spicy, mysterious. For entrees, my lovely wife got shrimp vindaloo. I don't care for shrimps, but the sauce was everything we've come to expect. I got the lamb chittenadu. The lamb was perfectly tender, and the sauce just had layer upon layer of spicy flavors. The naan was incredible as well light a seriously fluffy with a crispy bottom. It scooped up sauce like a champ. We got a garlic and a butter naan, and couldn't have been happier. Unfortunately, I think we're too full for the cakes, but I'll update if we take any home. read more

Food was Awsome. I'm Indian and it was very tasty. Best place in Hamden and north haven by far. This place needs to be first for Indian food. The garlic naan was terrific as well as the masala dosa. My kids loved the gobi Manchurian and the paneer tika. Staff was great and kind as well. read more

Six of us had a very nice meal at the Hamden location. The menu was amazingly broad with options from every corner of India, veg and non-veg. Our favorites were the dosas, (masala and ghee). ghee idlis (a surprise winner, which we doubled down on) ) , papdi chat. Decided to try the new Indian takeout/bakery that opened up recently. Seems like a pretty good place. Right off the bat, the Hakka noodles were very impressive. Very garlicky without being overpowering. Savory and delicious. The channa masala was good, but it was a little too sweet and the sauce was a little runny. The basmati rice was fine but it didn't have any of those aromatic seasonings that other restaurants use. A family member got the lamb tikka masala and said that the sauce was good but heavy on the stomach, also some pieces of meat were tender but some were tough. Personally I think Cumin is better overall, but this place has some dishes that Cumin does not so I will give business to both of them. Bottom line, this place is definitely worth a try. read more

Loved the food! The dosas are crispy, and I liked the flavoring in the veggie puff. The andhra curry is spicy and well-seasoned, and the malai kofta is delicious. I had a slice of black forest cake, which was moist with a delicate filling. The people are very friendly and the place is clean. I look forward to going back! read more

Here's the deal, I found that the few times I've been there that the orders are more sauced-up than than the actual ingredients that you would expect in your dish. The prices do not reflect the amount of food you get. In other words, you a lot of sauce, a pinch of the main ingredients and rice to go along with it for the same price as as a sit-down restaurant. I've been to Jaya's, Darbar, Sitar and others in the New Haven area, so I am familiar with Indian food, and for the price, this place has the smallest portions of all the places I've been to. However, if your new to Indian food, the flavors are nice but nothing special compared to other Indian places in area. You will most likely enjoy it until you experience another established restaurant in the area. You'll see what I mean at that time. The sauces were watered down (not as thick as normal) and your main ingredients are minimal. Unfortunately, the small portions don't justify the price of a dine-in restaurant. WAY TOO EXPENSIVE for what they offer. Sit down prices for take-out, sorry I won't be going back. DON'T BE CHEAP! PUT SOME FOOD IN THE Box, $18 for sauce, rice and niblets, not again. I give this place two years if they don't change just like the other overpriced chicken wing place that was there before them. read more

Delicious food at very reasonable prices! Tried the lunch specials, chicken and veg puffs, and mango cake. Will definitely come back!
