I really enjoy Sammy's Pizza's Pizza. However, I tried the wings. The wings were fine but a couple things were quirky about the process. The quantities are 10 or 20. I wanted 20 but you can't do that and get two sauces so you have to order two ten pieces? I want to give a shout-out to Sammy's Pizza in an updated review. When I initially ordered from here 2 years ago it was during a large move. After we got our stuff transported to our current house we were too tired to make dinner, so we decided to grab pizza from here being that they were less than 5 minutes away. Initially I wasn't blown away by their pizza and/or wings, but after several months of coming home from work and not having anything prepared for dinner they have always been a convenient option for a satisfying bite. Aside from having halal meat options, they always have amazing specials (most notably their large 4 topping pizza for only $11.99). I opened Yelp and perused the many pizza restaurants. After searching for a little while, I came across Sammy's. They had solid reviews. We ordered pepperoni and a supreme pizza. Wow. I literally can not do a straight up review for this, because every franchise is different. The one in Canton is - Amazing. Always nice people, and constantly good food. The one in Westland, well, they might want to go to the Canton store and learn how to keep customers. Cause they lost me forever. I'll literally only go to the Canton store. I've been wanting to try this place for a while and what better time than now, in the midst of a stay home executive order, when we both were needing a break from cooking! We love Detroit square pizza and we happy to see it on the menu. Bonus: they also have old world pepperoni aka cupping pepperoni aka little grease holders (and I say that in a good way). Check out their specials/bundles. We went with a small bundle which contained a small 2 topping pizza, an order of cheese bread and boneless wings. We went with an Asian flavored wing and it was great with just the right amount of heat. Ordering was simple and they brought the pizza out to the car. I don't hand out 5 stars easily but Sammy's is one of the best pizzas I have ever had. Usually I prefer a round Michigan-style pizza but they offered a square deep dish (newly referred to as "Detroit Style" even though growing up in Detroit I only ever saw round pizza) and that hearty crust sounded really good on this sub-zero degree night. On to an of town pizza adventure! We got 2 pizzas, both had a very delicious dough, crispy-edged crust with sesame seeds. Buttery goodness crunched the outer edges so perfectly. 2 pieces will fill you up and it is even good as microwaved leftovers for many days in the fridge. Not always easy for pizza! The sauce tastes like a home recipe, toppings were generous and the box fits in our small fridge. The place is a little bit hard to see from the corner, it is behind Rosa's. Pizza was easy to order online. Good deals, too. As for the pizza itself, it was excellent and had a great "Detroit" crust. The sauce was on the sweet side, but still delicious. My family thought they preferred Buddy's, but their's is also more expensive. This pizza is a great choice, too. The cheesebread was good. Not overly garlicky, but everyone enjoyed it. For Muslims, this location of Sammy's offers Halal options in Chicken & Beef as well as some Halal sides. I have tried the wings which I liked a lot. The pizza is great, a bit greasy, but that's what I like. What's the point of pizza if it's not messy? There is no sit down service at this location, only take out. Welcome to Canton Sammy's! I have seen coupons for this place Monday after Monday when I check my mailbox to cringe at the bills. This pizza ad finally caught my eye and I had to take action. I went online and ordered a small deep dish 2 topping special with Pepperoni (old school kind - they have both), Black Olives, and Shrooms - I split the veggie toppings up half and half, as I am a lover of both with pepperoni. I went with a small because of the online deal they had going and they offered the small in square and circle form. I went with the deep dish square. - I saw an option for flavored crust, so I clicked the Cajun button, being all skeptical and stuff thinking that Deep Dish and Flavored Crust couldn't be done. Boy oh Boy was I pleasantly surprised. They delivered that Detroit Style Deep Dish w/ the Flavor Crust and they did it ever go dang well I tell you what!!! Muy Perfecto!!! Ordering online was easy. I got an email that said it will be at my door within 45 minutes and it exactly came in at that time. FLAWLESS!!! (I know Deep Dishes take a while to cook) The delivery man was friendly - Hell yeah man!!! You Rock :D When the hero (to me, all pizza deliverymen/women are heroes to me) brought me the goods, I was really shocked at how heavy that pizza was and that's a good thing! It means they care about filling up their customers and providing the best bang for the buck!!! On any given Sunday Lions gameday, I can eat an entire small Jet's 6 piece Deep Dish in 20 minutes before I shuffle off to work. Solid chain pizza. We tried a thin crust and a hand-tossed the other night. Both were good. This rivals any chain in the area and is better than many. Have I had better pizza in my life? Absolutely. Have I had worse pizza in my life? Absolutely. I don't want to name specific pizza places, but some places have better deals and worse pizza. I felt like their pizza was moderately and competitively priced with the other chains that offer similar quality. When it comes to conveyor belt style pizza (what most chains serve), this is pretty good stuff. We didn't try anything other than the pizza, but I would be interested to give this place another shot and try the cheese bread, wings, and deep dish pizza. If/When that happens, I'll update my review to give a more thorough review. I believe they are a local business that has been expanding and has a handful of locations in the metro Detroit area. I'm all about supporting the "little guy." A lot of times the "little guy" doesn't measure up to the competition. Not the case with Sammy's. We'll be ordering again in the future. read more
